Married To A Vampire.

A/N: I don't own Twilight.

Summary: Re-Edited.

When Isabella Swan moved to Forks she was prepared for many things. Boredom and small town gossip, what she wasn't prepared for was vampires and she certainly wasn't prepared for being married to one.

Prologue

Jasper's POV

Mount Fairweather, 3015

Well that was another killed dead and buried, now it was time for me to go and find my mate. There really was nothing better after a good feed than spending time with my beautiful mate, especially when she has the ability to make me feel human again. Yes, you heard right, I'm not human and I haven't been since the American Civil War in the 1860's. Which means I'm around 1150 years old, give or take, but that's one of the perks of being a vampire. You will never look your age, unless of course you are unfortunate enough to be turned sometime after your mid 60's. Then hiding your age gets a little difficult.

As I roamed through the forest that still surrounds Mount Fairweather my mind wondered back to when I had first laid eyes upon her. It was at a point in my long immortal life when I never thought I would be so lucky as to meet my soul mate. At the time I was under the impression that I had already met my soul mate and lost her to another vampire, though I confess that it was a wavering impression by the time my mate arrived.

1010 years has passed since she came walking into my life and every day feels like I am falling in love with my Isabella all over again. Not even Shakespeare could write such love and it wasn't for lack of trying. You won't believe how long he pissed and moaned about the book I wrote dedicated to Isabella for. My book put Shakespeare's entire human life's work to shame and I haven't heard the end of it.

Yes, Shakespeare is a vampire.

A soft breeze swept past me and brought the seductive aroma of Isabella's scent. As I inhaled her intoxicating scent I noticed the distinct smell of fresh deer blood in the mix. She was still feeding. Damn, guess I was going to have to keep my distance for a little while longer.

You see like when you are human, there are laws to being a vampire. First and foremost is obviously, maintain secrecy of your existence. Failure to do so would mean the end of your vampire life, yes we can die, immortality really is nothing but a myth. Sooner or later all things come to an end. Anyway, secrecy, that's the one that all vampires must follow but the rest you just know on instinct. Like if you are lucky enough to find your mate, your whole universe surrounds them. Everything you do, everything you say is always to ensure their safety and happiness. The second rule that you learn on instinct is this. Never ever interrupt another vampire when they hunt and feed, it's a good way to get yourself killed. If you interrupt your mate during a feed, you'll just manage to survive. Unless your mate is completely psycho, then you're screwed.

Then again, if you are mated like myself, you find it very difficult to keep away from your mate even if your life depends on it. Like right now for instance. For I have somehow managed to walk into Isabella's line of sight, not a good move. Mercifully my screaming instincts are keeping me firmly in place now. Knowing she is safe is one thing, seeing it however will always be the driving force. Just one of the many things with mated vampires, we are instantly pulled towards each other with a force more powerful than two magnets. Yet, this fact about mated vampires also contradicts the fact that as a rule, vampires need to feed away from each other, unless of course the vampires in question are feeling rather suicidal but it's usually down to stupidity. That is another thing, it doesn't really matter how long a mated couple are together, you need to have him or her within sight or you can go a little bit nuts. Oh, fine, I admit it. I'm one of the ones that go bat shit crazy. Happy now? I lean against one of the many boulders that litter the base of the mountain and just watch as my mate feeds.

"Honey, is everything alright?" Isabella asked me, concern colouring her voice, emotions and eyes. Isabella very rarely stopped being concerned about me despite what we are. A brilliant smile lights up my eternally young face to show her that I am completely happy.

"Yes Darling, everything is perfect just as I promised," I replied and the smile, that I adore to no end, appeared on her face as she used her speed to close the distance between us to give me a gentle kiss.

"Then what is running through your mind, Jasper? If I were the enemy I would have taken you out by now, you were so distracted," Isabella said teasingly, causing a playful growl to come from my lips at her words.

"I was thinking about this extremely sexy woman that I met some 1010 years ago today," I replied. I almost stopped the game at the pout that came my way but the playful nature of her eyes and emotions held me back.

"Oh really! Did it not occur to you that your wife might need to know of this woman?" Isabella replied in mock anger. It was so convincing that I almost felt like I was in trouble.

So instead, I playfully growled back before I pinned Isabella to the opposite tree, and taking her lips with mine in a passionate kiss, the same kind of kiss I gave her when she was still human. But now, the danger of me accidentally killing her is no longer there. Which I still welcomed even after all these years, when I pulled away I couldn't stop the proud smirk that appeared on my face at the sight of her once again onyx black eyes. Onyx eyes that were filled with lust for me, enter masculine pride.

"It's a good thing that this particular woman I was thinking of is standing right in front of me then." I told her with a smile on my face as I reclaimed her lips.

If there was one thing that I can honestly say, it's that our need for each other has never faltered. We keep things far too interesting for that to become a possibility. Playing out fantasies, things that I would never have thought this woman would dare entertain let alone do them.

Some hours later we were lying in the dirt with our arms wrapped around each other. Night had long since fallen, and in our current location and we had a perfect view of the stars above us. Sadness suddenly overcomes my wife; looking down at her I saw that small frown was now lining her features.

"Darling? Why are you sad?" I asked her, concern in my voice.

"I keep trying to remember those last months of my human life, but everything is either a blur or just...blank." Isabella told me, her sadness increasing.

"Could you tell me again please, I love hearing you tell me how we got here," Isabella requested. I replied by giving her a loving kiss. I could feel her heart breaking again. At the same time my anger spiked, so I kissed her again. There was no point in us reliving our anger when the cause was no longer here. But then, more often than not, it can't be helped as she frequently feels like she is incomplete thanks to those missing months. The first chapter of our lives together, stripped, gone forever but I swore long ago, to keep our first chapter alive.

"Say no more Darling, I will tell you this story as many times as you like. Even the stories of myself serving in both wars. From what I remember of the Civil War that is." I told her softly. Her grip on me tightened and with good reason. Unlike the Civil War of the 1800's, I had been dragged into a Civil War with vampires, some 600 years into our immortal lives together. A war against rogue vampires whom, for completely insane reasons, wanted to enslave 10% of the humans and kill the rest. It was without question the most violent war the world has ever seen to date. Humans, despite the best efforts of our side, got dragged into it and almost all of them died a death more gruesome than even I had seen.

A shiver of terror shoots up my spine at the memory. Oh how I wish I had the power to change such things.

When the war had broken out, Isabella had been truly terrified for me and it was the only thing we truly argued about. I think she was afraid that the pull of glory from being a soldier would be greater than my need to constantly have her in my arms. A foolish, unnecessary thought however, as I rarely left her side even now. Nevertheless, I had went and lead the war against the rogues and Isabella came with me. Never entering battle of course but she helped nurse the wounded both vampire and human a like.

Forcing myself back to the present I pull away from our embrace to start a little bonfire. Not that we suffer from the cold or anything but because Isabella finds them romantic and whatever my Isabella wants she gets. Hell, she frequently gets me however she desires, not that I am one to complain. We both know that I have had my Isabella equally enough times however I desire too. I feel feather light kisses being placed on my back between my shoulder blades and God its heaven. Sweet mother of God! I love this woman. It didn't long for the bonfire to start roaring cheerfully as I wrapped Isabella back in my arms and the two of us watch the flames dance for a while.

"OK, well we met back in 2005..." I started, telling our story once again.

A/N: My very first story back up and running with changes scattered throughout the first chapter. Hope it's still a good read. Constructive criticism welcomed.

I will also being doing a story on the 'Vampire Civil War' that Jasper mentions.
