They don't talk much. Probably because Shulk didn't understand Japanese, and Marth stubbornly refused to learn English (although he did know how to ask people to dance with him).
Even so, they do act aloof to each other, adamantly refusing eye contact. But, if one were to see them during late night moments, they would most certainly be surprised.
They could be found sitting atop a hill, the blonde curled up on the grass, resting his head on the bluenette's shoulder.
Some claimed they had seen the pair roaming the streets and sidewalks in the early hours of morning dusk, looking deep into each other's eyes, "day"-dreaming and slowly walking.
Another person had spread a rumour that they had seen the lovers dance the dance of blades, and when it finished, they kissed briefly and ran in opposite directions. If they weren't seen together, nobody would know, right?
Obviously, there was no way to verify the truth in these statements and whispers.
Or that's what they thought.
When they coincidentally had been walking on the same street during the bright daytime, Marth hadn't noticed the car speeding along.
The bystanders would swear by all the gods that they saw a flash of silvery-gold and red blur by and push him out of the way, only to be hit.
Marth would swear by his fathers and life that he had cradled the dying male's head in his arm, and that Shulk had whispered, "愛しています..."
Nobody would've heard, but Marth replied, "Love you too..."
