It was just another acapella only party tonight, and the Bella's had all gone together. After a few drinks and some epicly crazy dancing, the ladies had split off to dance, drink and generally enjoy themselves true college-kid style. Beca and Chloe however, had called it a night pretty early. Chloe's place was a fair way further up the same road as Beca's, but when they passed the brunette's apartment, she invited the taller woman in anyway. They had been doing sleepovers for as long as they'd been friends...regardless of how close their accommodations were.
They both not-so secretly liked to cuddle. Well, with each other anyway. Besides, it helped Beca's bad dreams.
After changing briefly with their backs to each other, and trying desparately not to look at the other, Chloe went to the bathroom for a moment, before poking her head back around the corner.
"Hey Becs, where's my toothbrush?"
"Oh yeah, erm"
The petit brunette walked into the corridor, and pulled a bag out of the airing cupboard.
"In there somewhere"
She left to go back to her laptop head filled with possible tunes she could remix with Titanium. She'd been looking for a while, but nothing seemed to fit just right.
Chloe walked over to the bag of her things. Wow, it was quite a big bag... She really had left a lot of stuff at Beca's over the past few months. Accidentally of course... It was simply an added bonus that Chloe got to see Beca on the rare occasion she had to grab something she'd left. It had only happened once or twice, and Chloe knew she didn't need a reason to see the tiny woman... but it was nice to have an excuse nevertheless.
Chloe's toothbrush was sitting on top of the pile. She paused as she bent down to pick it up. Beca had removed her toothbrush from the bathroom, and put it... here?
Beca, had gathered all of her various things, and left them in a plastic bag in the airing cupboard?
The red head wouldn't have been able to describe how she felt in that moment, only that it hurt. She picked it up, paused, and then grabbed the entire bag.
"I might as well go back to mine"
Beca looked up from her laptop screen,a little surprised.
"Oh... Okay, sure"
Chloe feigned a brief smile and grabbed her jacket from next to Becaon the bed.
"Is... Everything alright?"
"Yes of course, silly"
Chloe was still smiling when she closed the front door behind her. The smile could almost have passed for real, if it weren't for the fresh tear tracks streaking down her face. It was as though her features were frozen into place, even as she turned the key in the door to her own apartment. The smile only broke when the red head closed her bedroom door behind her, slid down it awkwardly, and the first wave of emotion hit her. Except it wasn't emotion exactly, it was more like loss. An emptiness that wrings the tears out of your eyes, and draws breath from your lungs until you're left gasping for air.
