Hey everyone! Do you remember this story? I wouldn't blame you if you did cause I did too. It has been a while (like two years), and I never thought it was going to take that long.

I am so, sorry that this chapter took such a long time. I could give you an entire recap of what happened, but to cut it short, real life got super hectic, giving me very little time to write and this chapter had me stumped for a while, but now I have found some time to write. Yay!

This chapter isn't as usually long like my others, but I'd rather have out a short chapter than no chapter. I hope you guys are still interested in this story and let me know what you think!

Hope you enjoy! :)

Chapter Twelve: Something's Wrong

As they ran, Clarke was telling Kaya something, probably about Thomas state, but she couldn't hear anything. There were many emotions running through Kaya as she followed Clarke to the dropship where Thomas was.

Oh, my God, Kaya kept thinking. It was difficult to wrap around Kaya's head that Thomas could die. Kaya would admit that she might not have been the warmest person to the overenthusiastic guard, but she grew to care about him. He had been the only person she could rely on when she was at the lowest point back in the SkyBox.

When she had left the Ark, she had been resigned that she would never see Thomas again. Especially since he went missing after Raven and he crashed landed on Earth. So, it was understandable that she was having a hard time accepting that he actually was alive. At least for the moment from the sounds of it.

Thomas is hurt? Oh, God! He's going to die!

"Kaya! Can you hear me?" Clarke called out for her attention.

"Yeah," she said, but Clarke didn't seem to believe her. She patiently explained again that Thomas had been brought in by two guys that had been in the search party. They took him to the dropship and after making sure that he wasn't any close to dying, Clarke didn't waste time coming to look for her.

When they reached the dropship, Clarke stopped walking and turned to face Kaya, who was completely out of breath. She was bent over, her hands on her knees as she tried to catch her breath.

"Kaya," Clarke said seriously. "I don't know anybody else, you're the only I can count on."

"I don't do well with blood," Kaya told her and straightened up, going towards her.

"Well, you better suck it up because I need you," Clarke warned her. "And so does Thomas."

Kaya stared at Clarke and seeing the other girls stare, made her sigh.

"Okay, I can do this." Kaya exhaled but nodded in determination. She had to do this. Thomas live was on the line and she would never forgive herself if it was because of her that he died.

"Good, because it's ugly and I can't have you backing down."

Kaya thought Clarke was exaggerating, trying to get a rise out of her but once they reached Thomas, Kaya couldn't help and gasped, her hand going to her mouth. He looked deathly pale. Her stomach churned at the disgusting sight of his wound. She tried to breathe through her nose but that proved to be a mistake. She immediately started gagging.

"Kaya?" Clarke asked, looking at her in concern. "Remember, I need you right now."

"I know, I know," Kaya said breathlessly and nodded. Breathing through her mouth, seemed to work and once her urge to throw up lessened, she saw Thomas was sprawled on a makeshift bed and frowned. The way he was position was concerning her. "Why is he like that?"

"He's not dead," Clarke said, guessing where Kaya's thoughts went.

"If you say so," Kaya said, glancing at her warily, not entirely convinced. Thomas body was in a position that no living person could be in. She took a hesitant step when she stopped, noticing that Thomas was not alone. Kaya was taken back when she saw Ezra standing near Thomas.

"Hey," Ezra said, going over to her, and touched her shoulder.

"What are you doing here?" she asked more sharply than she intended.

"Me and Dave volunteered to bring him back," Ezra explained.

Kaya frowned and looked at Thomas and then back at Ezra. "What happened? How did you guys find him?"

"Bellamy found the guy. He was practically dragging himself towards us. I don't even think he was aware we were even there. He was so out of it. Almost attacked Bellamy and the other guy, your friend—"

"Finn?" she interrupted him. "Was he hurt?"

"Yeah, him, Finn, that one. He's fine. They had to calm the guy down but the moment they got a hold of him, he passed out. For a second we all thought he was dead." Ezra shook his head in disbelief. "I'm honestly surprised he's not."

Kaya ignored his last comment and asked him, "Where are they?"

"Bellamy and the others? They continued on, but not before Bellamy ordered us to take this guy back to camp."

Kaya looked at Ezra with a mixture of emotions. "It's Thomas."

"What?" Ezra frowned.

"His name is Thomas. Stop calling him this guy. His name is Thomas."

Ezra looked confused at how aggressive Kaya was being. "Okay, fine. Thomas. Jesus, Kaya, what's your problem?"

Kaya pressed her lips in a thin line, knowing that she was going to say something stupid at Ezra, who didn't deserve to deal with her frustration. After all, he was the one who made sure to bring Thomas back to safety.

"Nothing," she said shortly and looked at him. "You don't have to be here. You can leave."

"Fine, then," Ezra said, and shook his head, muttered something under his breath before walking away to join his friend. Kaya watched him and then went to join Clarke.

"What are you going to do?" Kaya asked, refusing to look at the blood-soaked Thomas. She could feel goosebumps forming on her arms at the strong odor of blood.

"I don't really know," Clarke admitted slowly as she inspected Thomas.

"You don't know?" Kaya whipped her head to look at her. "Then what the hell am I doing here?"

"Moral support."

"For who? You or him?"

"Both I guess," Clarke said, still looking at Thomas with a deep frown across her face. "Even if I did know what to do, I can't do anything. We don't have any supplies."

"Well, why don't you start looking for the source of the blood. That's always a good thing," Kaya suggested.

"It's there." Clarke pointed to somewhere at Thomas forcing Kaya to look at him. Her stomach churn at the sight of blood. His jacket looked like it had been green but now it was practically black of the blood.

"He's cut from his abdomen. It's not even shallow. But he has lost so much blood and the cut was exposed to so much, it would be a bad idea to stitch him up. Plus he has glass inside of him."

"What do you mean by glass?" Kaya asked sharply.

"When he and Raven crashed, a glass jammed itself inside of him."

"How do you know it was glass? What if it's something else."

"Because of this..." Clarke gingerly pulled Thomas jack and shirt up and exposed his stomach. A large glass was sticking out, covered in blood. The worst part was that blood was dripping to the floor.

"Oh fuck," Kaya said, feeling her face drain of color and before she could stop herself, she turned to her right and clumsily stepped out of the dropship. The second she was outside, she threw up. She could hear Ezra calling her name and when he put his hands on her, she straightened up and pushed him away.

"I'm fine," she gasped and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She grimaced when she saw her hand covered in throw up. She groaned in disgust and carelessly whipped her hand on her pants.

"Maybe you should lie down," Ezra suggested.

"No, no," she said, shaking her head and started making her back inside the dropship. Ezra got in front of her, forcing her to stop by grabbing her by the arm roughly.

"I'm fine," she insisted.

"No, you're not. You look like shit. You should sit this one out."

Kaya glared at him. "Stop. Telling. Me. What. To. Do," she gritted out, forcing him to release her from his grip. She heard Clarke stepping out and before she could say something to her, Kaya said, "I'm fine. I just threw up."

"You really don't like blood," Clarke said. "Maybe..."

"No. I'm here. You need me," she said, turning to face Clarke. "Thomas needs me."

Clarke still didn't look convinced but didn't disagree with her.

"What are you going to do?"

"Kaya, I already told you, he's lost a lot of blood," Clarke said, looking at Thomas with clinical expression. "That's the biggest problem. I can't do anything about that because we don't have the materials."

"But what are you going to do?" Kaya repeated more firmly. "I don't care about what we don't have. Make do what we have. Now, what are you going to do?"

Clarke looked startled, and after a few seconds, she nodded. Clarke motioned her to go back inside, and following her silently, they both made their way towards Thomas and pointed to his open wound.

"The problem is that can't stitch him close because it's infected. But if I don't close it, then he's going to keep bleeding out."

"What would happen if you stitched him close, despite it being infected?" Kaya asked, taking a step closer and examining the wound. Even she, someone with no medical knowledge, could see the swelling in the cut and green liquid seeping out.

"He could get blood poisoning and probably die."

"Okay then, that is out," Kaya exhaled shakily. "But if you don't close the wound, he's going to bleed out."

"That's what I said."

"What exactly are you waiting for then? For the infection to go away? And even if that happens, how long would that be?"

"Yes, that's what I'm hoping," Clarke said and rubbed her face in frustration. "And I don't know. We don't have the correct materials. Doesn't matter what I do, he could still die because we have nothing."

Kaya contemplated everything that she knew, and in any situation that brought her anxiety, she started scratching her arms. Her mind was racing, trying to think of something, but coming up with nothing. She couldn't help in this situation, she had no experience in the medical field. What Clarke knew she had learned it from her mother.

She froze mid-scratch and looked at Clarke, her eyes narrowing. "Your mom, she's a doctor, right?"

"Yeah," Clarke said slowly.

"That's how you learned everything you know?"

"Yeah."

"If you were to talk to her through the radio, would you be able to find a way to... heal Thomas?" she said carefully, avoiding to use save because Thomas was not going to die. He did not get to die before he had a chance to see Earth. He deserved so much better than that.

"Yes, but that doesn't matter, the radio isn't working."

"Fine," she snapped, throwing her hands in exasperation, "then which choice would he less likely die?"

Clarke turned to look at her. "What are you trying to say?"

"I'm saying we need to take a chance on what you know and then we get Raven to fix the radio so she can communicate with the Ark."

"But that can take a long time, and we don't have time," Clarke pointed out, making Kaya sigh impatiently.

"I know that. Why do you think I'm asking you what choice you would make that would prevent Thomas from dying quickly? I know we've been through the options many times but which one would Thomas less likely die from quickly?"

Clarke stared at her intently, before saying, "I can try to clean his wound around the glass while Raven fixes the radio. There might be something here that I can use to stop Thomas from bleeding out."

Satisfied with having a plan, despite not being the most solid, Kaya glanced at Thomas before turning to Clarke.

"I'll be back," she told her.

"Wait, where are you going? I need your help."

"We need to catch up Raven on everything. She needs to know. She was with him. She's been worried sick about him. She deserves to know," Kaya said and mentally added to herself, I'm not keeping another secret from her.

Surprisingly, Clarke agreed with her. "Okay, you're right. She needs to know."

"I'll tell her. She needs to hear it from me. Besides, I think out of the two of us, she hates me a little less."

"Alright, but please hurry. I need all hands on deck with Thomas."

"I'll be back soon," she said and quickly left the dropship. Kaya sprinted all the way to Raven's tent. She was out of breath by the time she reached her.

"Kaya, what—?" Raven turned around and gasped when she saw her. "What the hell? What happened?"

"What?" she gasped, leaning against one of the makeshift tables, which was a terrible idea. It wobbled against her weight, making Raven rush to Kaya's sided and grabbed her arms.

"Did you cut yourself?" Raven demanded.

"What? No, what are you talking about?" Kaya asked bewildered. She looked down at herself and realized that she was covered in blood. It wasn't a large amount but it still was alarming to see her with blood on her clothes.

"Let me see—"

"No, Raven. Let go of me," she said, slapping Raven's hands from her but that didn't stop Raven from going back to grab them. "It's not mine."

"Then why are you covered in blood?" Raven then gasped. "Oh my God! Did something happened to Finn?"

Kaya shook her head. "They found Thomas."

"What?" Raven said disbelief, her grip on Kaya slackening, giving Kaya a chance to push her away. Raven seemed hesitant to ask, "As in... as in his body?"

"No," Kaya said sharply, not being able to believe that Raven would say something like that. "Of course, he's alive..." She faltered when she remembered his stare. "At, least for now."

"What do you mean for now?"

"He's really badly hurt. I don't know how bad, but he's lost a lot of blood."

"But he's going to be fine, right?"

"That's the problem. Clarke isn't sure if she can do something to help him," Kaya admitted fearfully.

Raven looked devastated at hearing that. "What do you mean by that? Yes, she can. She's Abby Griffin's daughter. She has to do something."

"Just because her mom is the doctor back in the Ark, doesn't mean anything here. We don't have anything."

Raven slammed her hand on the table, making Kaya jump back.

"I'm sorry," she apologized. "I just... fuck, aren't you pissed at how shitty things are right now?"

Kaya stared at Raven, a little nervous at how angry she was. Kaya was upset with their dire situation but nothing compared to Raven. She stared at her friend for a few seconds, and then slowly said, "Things aren't great right now, but when have they ever been?"

"Never," Raven laughed bitterly.

"Yeah, never, but that doesn't mean we can't try. You are going to fix the radio and Clarke is going to talk to her mom and save Thomas. Everything is going to work out somehow," Kaya promised. It was a big promise to make but it was both needed to hear.

"I need to see Thomas," Raven said, throwing her rag on the table and started making her way out of the tent. "I can't focus on the radio until I see with my own two eyes that he's breathing."

"Alright, let's go," Kaya said and both quickly exited the tent, and for what seemed like the nth time of the day, she sprinted.

Raven looked like she was about to cry when she saw Thomas. Somehow, she managed to quickly get it together. Raven didn't stay long, she left after five minutes to fix the radio. Kaya had chosen to stay behind with Clarke, seeing that she would have more to offer in the dropship than with Raven.

Clarke had made the bold choice to leave Thomas wound open instead of stitching him up. She cleaned his wound as much as she could and left it alone. She had explained to Raven and Kaya that she was hoping that if she left the wound open for a day, it won't become infected once she stitched him up.

Clarke had assured them that he was no longer bleeding so there wasn't a possibility for him to bleed out. Hearing that Thomas might be okay, took off some of the tension from Kaya. Once Raven had let, Clarke ordered Kaya to wipe the blood away from Thomas body. She didn't want to take chances with the blood in case he had other minor cuts that could become infected.

It sounded disgusting but as Kaya cleaned Thomas, it wasn't that bad. Kaya wished that she would have tied her hair back because her long strands kept falling, covering her face, forcing herself to push them out of the way with her bloodied hands. She wiped her face clumsily and cursed under her breath when she felt something wet touch her cheek.

"I'm going to check in with everybody in the camp. To see how they're doing," Clarke told Kaya after an hour. "I need you to stay by his side, in case something happens, you can come and get me."

"Okay, don't worry about it."

As Clarke stepped out of the tent, Raven appeared second later. She took a seat next to Kaya.

"How's the radio?" Kaya asked, trying to ease the tension between the two of them.

Raven shrugged. "It's going alright. It's easy to fix it when we have materials to work with, but I'm going to fix it, don't worry about that."

After that, they didn't say anything for a really long time, just staring at Thomas in silence.

"Do you think Clarke did the right thing?" Raven finally spoke up.

Kaya tore her gaze from Thomas and looked at Raven carefully.

"Yes, I want to believe she did. Clarke has the tendency to do what's right."

"Of course, she does." Raven then heaved a sighed and stood up. "I have to go. I just came here to check on Thomas. Tell me if anything changes."

"Yeah, I will," Kaya said and Raven promptly left, hopefully, to successfully fix the radio.

Hours passed and still, nothing happened. Clarke hadn't returned. Thomas was still deathly pale. Raven hadn't made any progress with the radio. Bellamy and Finn hadn't returned with Octavia. And Kaya was still unable to contribute to anything.

"It's almost been an entire day since they left," Raven said in frustration, kicking the ground. She had returned, taking another break from fixing the radio. "What is taking them so long?"

"This isn't like the Ark," Kaya said, not looking away from her staring contest with the wall. She was pretty sure she was losing her mind because she could now see the shape of a tree on the wall.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Kaya sighed but didn't look away. "It means there aren't any limits here. We have no idea how far Octavia went. We don't know what's around us. We don't know what the hell is going on half of the time."

"Then what the hell do you know?"

"That Earth isn't as unhabitual as we initially thought," she muttered bitterly, tugging on her jack sleeve, feeling that urge of scratching herself rise. At that moment, Thomas let out a painful grunt startling both girls.

"Shit," Raven muttered. "Is he...?"

"He's okay," Kaya assured her, finally breaking her stare when she went to check on him. His chest showed that he was breathing, but it was clear that he was having a hard time doing so. "He's okay, he's just... he's getting by."

She glanced at Raven hesitantly which made Raven frown.

"What? Is there something wrong with Thomas?"

"He's fine, well, as fine as he can be at the moment, but..."

At Raven's expectant look, Kaya took a deep breath, and said carefully, "It's not the most appropriate time to do this, but it's never the right time here. I want to say that I'm sorry. I know that it's not going to mean anything but I really am. And it's not true what you said."

"What are you talking about?"

"That you don't mean anything to me," Kaya said, struggling to find the words on the emotions she was feeling. "Because you do, in some way more than Finn. I love Finn, I do. He's been my friend since we were children. He was my first friend. But he has never really understood me. He tries though and that means a lot to me."

Raven's blank expression almost made Kaya want to stop talking but pushed aside her nerves continued.

"But you have always, somehow, l understood me in a way that he will never do. I don't know if its because you're a girl or we have shitty parents, but you get me." She grunted, frustrated at how shitty her explanation sounded. "I'm sorry, I'm not making any sense. What I'm trying to say is that I do love you. You're one of my closet friends and I just protect you from being hurt, which is the opposite that I did by not being honest."

Raven stared at Kaya for a really long time and then nodded. "Okay."

"Okay?" Kaya had basically poured her heart out to Raven, something she clearly struggled and that was all Raven had to say? She must have done a poor job apologizing or Raven was really angry.

"Yes, okay. I'm very hurt for you not being honest, but I don't want to ignore you." Raven then gave her a tentative smile. "Thank you for telling me that. I can tell it wasn't easy for you."

"It wasn't," Kaya agreed. "But I meant it. It was choppy but honest."

"Great, because I love you too, you weirdo." Raven reached out and gripped her hand, giving her a reassuring squeeze. "We're friends, don't forget that. Friends fight."

This day hasn't been easy but hearing Raven's word of reassurance made her want to cry in relief. She breathed out shakily and had to wipe her eyes before she burst into tears.

"Wow, don't cry."

"I'm not crying," she denied it as she continued wiping off her tears clumsily. "I'm just... really glad that we're not going to have to avoid each other for the remaining of our lives."

"I can't be angry with you, Bambi," Raven laughed making Kaya wrinkled her nose.

"I hate that stupid nickname," she muttered.

"Would you rather have me calling you Blondie?"

"How about just Kaya?"

Raven laughed again but stopped, sighing as she looked back at the dropship opening.

"Do you think it's a good idea to let Bellamy lead the search group?"

"Finn's there with him," Kaya reminded her. "And as stubborn and reckless Bellamy can be, he's a good leader."

Raven looked at her wryly making Kaya feel like she said something wrong.

"What?"

"What's with you and Bellamy?"

Kaya was not expecting to hear that. "I—I don't know what you mean."

"You know what he's done, but you keep defending him."

"He's our leader whether we like it or not, we have to trust him. It's not easy being here and it's not easy to trust anybody, but despite some of his terrible choices and our circumstances, he's done a good job protecting us."

"Hmm," Raven said, not sounding too convinced by Kaya's argument. "If you say so."

Kaya couldn't blame her. Even to her, it sounded odd sticking to Bellamy but it was the truth as strange as it was. Raven was about to say something but it was drowned by a loud noise coming from outside. Kaya had come to recognize the loud shouts as a telling sign that someone has arrived.

"They're here. They made it back," she said, unable to hide her excitement, and was about to sprint off when she stopped herself. Raven seemed to be doing the same thing as they glanced back to an unconscious Thomas and shared a look.

"You go," Kaya said, jerking her head towards the noise. "I'm supposed to stay with Thomas."

"Okay," nodded Raven, already making her way out. "I'll let you know what's going on."

"Okay," Kaya said but Raven was already gone, leaving her with Thomas. She turned to him and said, "They're back. See? Everything is going to work out. Just hold on tight, Thomas," she said and gripped his hand. She has spoken too soon because in a few minutes many people burst into the dropship, one of them being Clarke.

She let go of Thomas' hand and watched as Clarke lead a group of people that were carrying someone.

"Something's wrong," she muttered to Thomas. She let go of his hand, and took a step closer to see what was going on. She desperately wished she hadn't.

"Oh, my God," Kaya said, her hands shaking as she caught the sight of an injured Finn. She felt like the ground had shifted beneath her and she had to lean back the wall to keep herself standing.

No. No. No. No! No! NO! NO!

"Right here," Clarke was ordering, placing Finn near Thomas. Kaya's let out a tiny whimper, reminding Clarke that she was there. When she looked at her, Clarke expression matched how Kaya was feeling.

"Kaya... maybe you should leave..."

"What... what...?" Her hands shakingly motioned to where Finn laid down. "What happened? Is he...?"

"He's alive," Clarke said and those words should have relieved Kaya but Clarke's haunted expression did nothing to calm Kaya's nerves. "It was an accident."

"O-okay. What about Octavia? Where's Octavia?" she managed to say, racking her hands through her hair desperately.

"She's outside, alive," Clarke said, distractedly. "Why don't you go see how she is?"

"Does she need any help?"

"No, I'm fine," Octavia said, coming from behind her. Kaya glanced at her and saw that she wasn't lying. She was far better off than the two men that were laying down.

"But she's got a few cuts and scrapes that need to be cleaned," Clarke pointed out.

"I can... I can help Octavia," Kaya offered weakly and not waiting for an answered, grabbed Ocatiavia's wrist and pulled her out of the dropship. She led them to Kaya's tent and pulled them in.

"Sorry," she apologized when she realized she had a tight grip on Octavia and let her go.

"It's fine," the younger girl brushed her off. Kaya pulled out a rag and wet it with a small water canteen Finn had given her. At the reminder of Finn, she found herself sniffling.

"Kaya, are you alright?"

"Fuck," she said and let out a watery laugh. "Am I alright? No, I should be asking you that. Not you."

"It's okay," Octavia said soothingly and reached out to hold one of Kaya's shaking hands. She glanced down at their hands and let out a broken cry.

"No, it's not," she said, her voice so pitiful. "It's just Finn is hurt. he might die and if Finn dies... I..."

She let out a broken sob. It hurt too much to imagine Finn out of her life permanently. After a few minutes of crying, she clamped her mouth shut, pulled her hand from Octavia's and wiped her eyes.

"Oh, my god," Kaya said. "This is the second time I have cried today. I'm sorry."

"It's fine," Octavia said, giving her a small smile. "Actually, it makes me feel better that I am not the only person that is a mess."

Kaya smiled at weakly. If only Octavia knew that Kaya was constantly experiencing an internal crisis and that crying was just the tip of it.

"Then you're with the right person. Come on, let me clean you up."

"No, that's fine," Octavia dismissed. "I was actually hoping to have some time for myself, maybe sleep in my tent. If that's okay with you."

"What? Of course. But if you change your mind, I'm here."

Octavia shook her head. "You don't have to worry about me. I'm fine."

"Are you sure? I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been. Actually, I don't even know what happened."

"After all of this passes, I will tell you everything," Octavia promised. Hesitating, she added, "Finn is going to be alright, Kaya."

"Mhm," Kaya said and sensing her little composure slipping, Octavia excused herself and left the tent. Kaya had to bite her cheek from stopping herself from bursting into tears again. She did the only thing that helped her calm down. She started counting.

One. Two Three. Four. Five. Six.

She reached number fifty-eight when she no longer felt like crying and all she felt that familiar numbness when she was having those days. Wiping her eyes from stray tears, she got out of the tent and to stand outside the dropship, hesitant to step inside.

She didn't want to go inside, afraid that even her presence might throw off Clarke's concentration and something terrible might happen to Finn. But she wanted to be there, to make sure that Finn was still alive. She needed to see him breathing, even if it was killing him to do so.

Kaya knew that she was more worried about Finn than Thomas, which should be wrong, but Thomas was in the clear. He had only lost blood. He was going to be okay, that's what Clarke had said the moment she saw him. The same couldn't be said for Finn. Kaya had seen Clarke's expression when she looked at Finn. The color of her face had drained and that was enough to tell Kaya that Finn's injury was much graver than Thomas.

She wished that she had something to occupy herself. Octavia wanted to be alone which she understood, and Raven was inside with Finn. Kaya had nothing to do but stand in front of the dropship awkwardly, hoping for something to happen. She just wanted to have something to occupy her mind.

"Why are you always covered in blood?"

Kaya turned to see Bellamy going over to her side. He looked exhausted. She was honestly surprised that he hadn't passed out. He had been out all-night walking through the forest. She remembered how tired she had been at the end of the night on her first day here.

"Kaya?" Bellamy asked her and she realized she hadn't answered him.

"Some of its Octavia's, some of it might be mine. Most of it is Thomas," she said and carelessly wiped her hands on her pants.

"You looked like you killed someone," Bellamy commented. She flinched at his poor choice of words. "Crap, Kaya. I'm sorry," he said, rubbing his face. "I'm so sorry about this."

"You know, it wouldn't be a bad idea to lay down," she said, ignoring his apologies. "When was the last time you slept?"

"No, I can't." Bellamy shook his head. "I'm not done."

Kaya didn't know how much she could handle more bad news. "What do you mean? What's wrong?"

"Nothing else is wrong," he said, clearly trying to appease her. "But it wouldn't look right for me to be sleeping while Finn and Thomas are in their death bed."

"Don't say that," Kaya whispered harshly. "He's not going to die. He can't. He just can't."

"Dammit, I can't do anything right," Bellamy laughed bitterly and hung his head.

"You brought back Octavia and Finn," Kaya said. "You have to be doing something right."

Bellamy looked over at her, wearing an unreadable expression.

"Speaking of Finn... how's Thomas? How is he?" he asked, looking hesitant at the mention of him. "He's not dead, right?"

"No, he's alive," she answered truthfully. "But I can't say if he's going to make it."

Bellamy grimaced. "That bad?"

"It could've been worse. He could've been brutally stabbed by the Grounders. So, he's lucky if you think about it."

"I'm sorry, Kaya," Bellamy said after a few seconds of silence.

"Why are you apologizing to me?" she asked, frowning at him. "You haven't done anything to upset me. Yet."

"I'm sorry about Thomas," he explained hesitantly. "I feel like everything has been my fault lately. Thomas, Octavia, Finn."

While Bellamy wasn't right, he wasn't wrong either. She knew it wouldn't help to agree with him and said instead, "Thomas may have been your fault. I don't know about Octavia, but I know that for Finn, it was an accident. So, not everything was your fault."

Bellamy hung his head and groaned. "I definitely went to the wrong person for comfort."

"If it makes you feel better, I tried my best to say it nicely," Kaya said apologetically. "If you wanted to be coddled, I guess you're asking for the wrong person. I tried to comfort Octavia and I ended up crying. She had to be the one to comfort me."

At the mentioned of his sister, Bellamy tensed. "How's Octavia?"

"She's fine. No serious injuries. Just small cuts."

"That's good," Bellamy nodded. "Where is she right now?"

"She's sleeping in her tent right now." Kaya pointed over her shoulder and when she saw her hand shaking, she dropped it to her side. "She wanted to be alone. I don't blame her. After everything, I would want to be alone to collect myself. But I told her that, if she needed anything, I'll be there."

"Thank you, Kaya," Bellamy said, sounding grateful. "I really do appreciate you watching Octavia. Especially with how things are with Finn and Thomas."

"I don't mind, it keeps me distracted."

Steady hands, steady mind, she thought to herself. That's what Finn would say and she had to exhale loudly. Don't cry, don't cry. Not in front of Bellamy.

"Thank you," he said again, getting her attention. "It's nice to have someone I count on."

"Like I said, it keeps me distracted."

Kaya and Bellamy stare at each other. Noticing blood on Bellamy's cheek, she took a step towards him and wiped it off. He blinked, taken back by her unexpected touch.

She let her hand linger for a second too long for it to be acceptable for someone like Kaya that was in a supposed relationship with Ezra. She dropped her hand to her side and looked away. She could feel Bellamy's stare on her, probably wondering what the hell did she touch him.

"Listen," he said, clearing his throat and forcing her to look at him, "a storm is coming, and you should be inside when it happens."

"Yeah, I'll get inside."

"Good, and don't forget to get Octavia."

She gave him an annoyed look. Didn't they just establish that she would take care of Octavia?

"When I get back, I want you and Octavia..."

"Wait, wait, when you get back?" Kaya interrupted him, looking at him in confusion. "Where are you going to be?"

Bellamy's expression darkened. "I'm gonna get the grounder that took my sister."

"Right now? After everything that happened? You can't leave."

"Kaya, that grounder," he hissed, taking a step closer to her and jabbed his finger angrily towards the forest, "took my sister. He's the one that hurt Finn. And I wouldn't be surprised if he found Thomas too and hurt him."

"I don't know how many died during your trip, but we lost people. Thomas almost died. And Finn," Kaya stopped herself, taking a breath to stop her voice from cracking. "I-I don't know what's going to happen to him. But do you think it's a good idea to go back to the grounder, especially when there's a storm that is coming?"

"Yes," he said, sounding so sure of himself. "He needs to pay for what he did. Maybe that will send a message to the other grounders to leave us alone."

"What if he hurts you? What then? We need a leader, Bellamy," she reminded him. "Clarke is in no position to lead."

"It's going to be fine. This time, we know what to expect. We're going to get him," he said with determination that left no space for argument.

Kaya stared at him, knowing that whatever argument she would bring up would fly through his head. Not that she had much to say, her brain felt like it had become mush with all the crying she had been doing.

"You need to be careful," she finally said, making Bellamy's lip twitch in amusement.

"Don't worry about me, worry about yourself and Octavia," he said and was the one that broke their stare, looking back to a group of guys that were seemingly waiting for him. "I have to go."

She watched Bellamy walk away, going towards the group of guys. She understood his anger, the grounder deserved to pay for the problems he created but a small part of Kaya feared that something terrible might happen. She didn't want Bellamy to end up like Thomas or Finn. If he did, things were going to go to shit.

Sighing, Kaya turned around and headed towards Raven's tent, realizing that she hadn't checked up on her. She couldn't imagine how she was handling their current situation. She desperately hoped that Raven was doing better than she was.
