Chapter 16:
Final Chapter: A life Together.
If Makoto Naegi had a defect in him. It was maybe that he cared too much. Naegi was a being who cared for everyone, he cared of them and wished for them to always be happy. He was a hopeful beacon of light in a world that was in a constant fight with shadows looming all around. But Naegi was a beacon for his friends and everyone who knew him.
Recently, a girl had come to that beacon of light and ended up falling for it. Like a moth to flame, Touko Fukawa was someone who was caught in the warm of the flame. And she went for it and decided to take the risk of getting burned by it.
And the result of this, was that she was hugging Makoto Naegi in a bench.
Not Genocider Shou her other side. But Touko Fukawa was hugging Naegi in the same manner a kid hugs a teddy bear. Full of warm and love. Of course, in this especial case, with lots of nervous too. She didn't know how she was managing it. But she was holding in place keeping Naegi close to her as she spoke.
"And… that's pretty much how I feel about you all the time"
Naegi had decided to try to know more of Fukawa, so they had been playing a game of questions. In a point of the game Fukawa nerves had gotten big and as if a way to ease herself she took Naegi in her arms. She found if funny how Naegi just seemed to be the perfect shape for her to hug. Naegi wasn't doing better than her though.
He was just as red faced as Fukawa and had gotten incredibly nervous at her admittance of why she liked him.
In the end what neither of them could avoid was the feeling of warm they were sharing. It was a moment for them to simply share.
After what happened with Mukuro, Naegi had been feeling down, and because of that Fukawa decided she would spend the whole day trying to cheer Naegi up. So far she was having quite the success in the quest to keep his spirits up.
Still, she had found out something interesting. She could seem to switch with herself when she wanted. While she didn't understand how it worked she was glad it didn't happen at random times.
As she kissed Naegi cheek, the ultimate lucky student was surprised by the gesture.
"Wha? What happened Fukawa"
Her eyes were smiling, and for a moment Naegi could swear she didn't look guilty or embarrassed at all.
"J-Just wanted to show y-you I care"
Naegi smiled and kissed her cheek back.
This time the embarrassment won and Shou came in place. Finding herself pleasantly surprised at seeing Naegi in her arms. She smiled at him letting her tongue get out as she spoke enjoying looking Naegi reaction when she tightened the hug.
"Well hello! Didn't know you were missing me already"
Before Naegi could speak he felt the tongue of Shou licking his cheek getting him embarrassed as she hugged him closer to her cheek.
"I missed you….just in case you were wondering"
At this Naegi smiled, he still was a bit uncomfortable at the saliva in his cheek, but he didn't minded so much as in the hug Shou cheek had gotten a bit too.
"I missed you too, I care for you and Fukawa"
At this Shou smiled mischievously at Naegi.
"Oh, look at you such a smooth talker, you sure know how to get me smiling don't you Makoto?"
Naegi found himself smiling while getting red in his face.
"I know what you mean though, and is good to know you care so much for us… I mean, I doubt she wouldn't care for you, you are irresistible Makoto"
At this Shou licked Naegi cheek again.
"Plus you taste delicious, so that is a nice plus in you too"
Naegi got embarrassed as Shou laughed at his reaction.
They were having a good moment. A simple moment that while many were observing the weird interaction in the park none seem to question it and simply scratched the act as something as of young love.
Naegi was happy. He found love and happiness in an unlikely place. In the arms of one person who carried two at the same time.
Both sides of a mirror were in love with him…
Mukuro was humming as she was having breakfast in the company of her sister.
"So… whats the plan?"
Mukuro kept humming, her attention on her breakfast. Junko was sighing looking at her sister.
"No plan? Really?"
Mukuro kept humming as her fork obliterated the egg she was going to eat.
"Oh… so waiting then?"
Mukuro kept humming but seemingly nodded at the question. Junko was confused.
"I thought you were going to leave it like that"
Mukuro stopped and looked at her sister. And Junko was surprised at her eyes. Those weren't eyes full of despair. No, they had hope and an intense resolve in them…
"I shall bid my time… who knows, we are young Junko, maybe they will break up one day, and on that, I will be there…"
As she munched on her breakfast she spoke again.
"Naegi is my friend first… I will not let something as small as this take that away"
Junko was with her mouth open. She wasn't expecting this outcome after looking at her sister coming sadly the other day. She just shrugged at a thing from soldiers.
"Whatever… but if you need a hand again be sure to tell me with more time on the next occasion"
Mukuro smiled at her sister before thinking about Naegi. She would wait a whole life if it was needed.
To her, he was worth it.
As Shou was smiling holding the hand of Naegi she was in thought looking at the sky. She thought to do one thing before going for a while.
"Oi Makoto!"
Naegi looked at Shou and before he had a chance to ask anything he got a kiss full of affection from her. It was delicate and in a way a polar opposite to how her kisses usually were.
As Shou closed her eyes, the red faded to leave the place for the gray of Fukawa. As she was surprised she didn't pull away and seemingly pushed more at Naegi who was red-faced at the whole situation.
"Hello, Makoto…"
Fukawa spoke while smiling. As Naegi took on her speech Fukawa was back.
"Hello Touko"
He smiled as she took his hand. In a way, it was fun for Naegi how it seemed Fukawa was the bolder of the two. She would initiate most of the physical contact. Thinking it back to how she was often nervous it was surprising. But not uncomfortable at all.
He appreciated it because it showed how much Fukawa cared for him.
As Fukawa was smiling holding the hand of Naegi she was in thought.
What would happen in the future?
Would they have a future full of happiness?
Or were they simply another love story that would end abruptly?
There were many questions in her mind. But as she held the hand of Naegi the questions simply vanished away.
Naegi was in a similar state.
Would their love end one day?
Or were they going to be together forever?
Was their love something fickle?
But as he felt Fukawa grip on his hand he knew he was thinking too much. And the questions vanished away.
They were young. So why worry so much about a future that had yet to come?
They had their whole lives to figure out where their hearts were taking them.
And they would take that journey together...
Somewhere in the school a certain fortune teller was smiling looking at a crystal ball that seemingly was showing him a future of two people who were about to get married. He wasn't sure what he was seeing. But he found it too funny when the bride carried the groom away laughing maniacally.
His laugh was so much he lost the grip on the crystal ball and it broke in pieces. He sighed, he would need to get a new one.
But in the pieces of the crystal ball now shattered…
If he looked closer.
He could have seen that there were three faces smiling in it.
It seemed they would have a life together…
Gray eyes, red eyes, and hazel eyes. All in a beautiful harmony…
The end.
I know I promised a long chapter. But in the end, this just seemed to be the perfect ending to this journey.
Thanks everyone. I hope you enjoyed Befriending the two sides of the mirror.
Stay tuned for my next work on this ship. Or feel free to comment me on something you would like for me to give a try in Dangan Ronpa. Once again.
Thanks, everyone.
