The lonely oracle
Rachel sat in her cabin. Alone. She was always alone.
Sometimes, he came to visit her. He called her his oracle, but she knew that she didn´t belong to anyone. Not even the Gods, not even him.
Growing up as an only child, with parents who hardly had time for her, she had always been alone. Before she met Percy Jackson, she hadn´t had many friends. And then she had fallen for that crazy demigod. And he had left her alone. Now he was dating one of her best friends.
She had accepted their relationship, because she was the oracle now, the virgin oracle, his oracle. He came into her life so suddenly, he had accepted her as his oracle, an honour for her, though she later realised how it was a curse, as well as a blessing.
She made sure that no one knew how lonely she really was. The campers knew her as happy, crazy, creative Rachel, the oracle Rachel. But Rachel got sad, jealous, afraid and lonely.
She sat on her bed one night and cried, it was too much once again. Seeing the future destroyed her from the inside. She had no one to talk to. Her friends were in the ancient lands to defeat Gaea. The campers were preparing for war. Her family wouldn´t listen. They wouldn't understand anyway, none of them could. Only he could understand, but he was never there when she needed him.
But now he was. He sat down next to her and put his arm around her shoulder. "Hey, what´re you crying about my oracle?" he asked and she cried even more, because she wasn´t his oracle, she was the oracle, but she could never be his.
Apollo took her chin in one hand and made her look at him. His hand was so warm. But he knew nothing about her, he didn´t care about her. He was a good and she was just an oracle. "I do care about you Rachel, more than you can imagine." He said. She didn´t know if he could read her thoughts or was just really good at reading expressions. She didn´t really care though. She looked into his eyes and saw the sincerity in them. She only wanted one thing.
She kissed him. And he kissed her back, and the world stopped turning.
And in that moment, Rachel realised that she wasn´t alone at all, and for the first time in her life, she understood that there were people who loved her, that he loved her and that she was his oracle after all. And she decided that she wouldn´t give up, yet.
