"Doumo, Akashi-kun." Came a teen with high school gakuran, greeting the redhead that was sitting by the table in Maji Burger. "I'm sorry I'm late. My homeroom teacher had me to help him around a bit."

"It's okay. Have a seat, Kuroko. Or rather, do you want to order first?" Akashi asked.

"Ah yeah, I'll just put my bag here first…," and Kuroko did so. He glanced on Akashi's tray, he only had cold ocha with him. "Do you want me to order for you, Akashi-kun?"

"Only if you buy food as well."

"Fine…." Kuroko gave up arguing with his former captain before it could even start.

"I want tofu sandwich set on their special menu. Change the soda to cold ocha."

"Can I treat you? As my apology of coming late, even though Akashi-kun made it to Tokyo on his school day off."

"Go on." A chuckle.

Five minutes later, Kuroko came back, his tray filled with a cup of vanilla milkshake, chicken burger, and Akashi's menu set that consisted of tofu sandwich, cold ocha, and potato wedges. They engaged their conversation as their mouth enjoyed the food slowly, though properly as to make sure they didn't speak as they eat. They talked about anything, as the talks flowed just perfectly. Akashi wasn't only a playmaker in court, but he's a perfect conversation engager as well, contrast to Kuroko's low point in socializing. Kuroko always enjoy talking to him, because it wasn't hard and awkward to have a long talk with him.

"… and I would say, Seirin's coach is good in advancing the individual skills rapidly."

Kuroko responded, "And even coach's father is something else as well."

"I won't doubt it. You all must have had his coaching, right? You played well."

Kuroko smiled. "And… how is he?"

Akashi didn't respond right away. Nor did he ask questions, requesting him to provide an elaboration to his question. He knew what the other teen meant. It was a question about his other self.

"He's sleeping right now. But he is okay, thank you for asking about him." Akashi smiled. "I still talk to him sometimes, but it seems he's not satisfied with our match result. That's a given."

"I… I see."

"I'm sorry for everything that happened."

"You already said that a lot, Akashi-kun. There's no need to."

"No, I'm responsible for this, but none of you all blamed me for it."

"Because it's not your fault to begin with." Kuroko simply said. "It's not your doings. Ah… but I don't blame the other you, either."

"You're the first person to say that." Akashi chuckled. "My teammates, especially Reo, told me that 'he's cute but sometimes unbearable', and even feel sorry for me. But he's actually the person who dislikes him the least." He took a sip of his cold ocha. "I'm thankful, Tetsuya. For not blaming him."

"Why so?"

"It's simply because I don't think he's entirely at fault, either. I just had conditions, and he simply did things to make sure I'm alright. It was as if he's being protective."

No one of the two spoke up again afterwards for the next two minutes. They munched on their own food. But after the third minute, Akashi noticed Kuroko was smiling to him.

"Do I have something on my face?" Akashi asked.

"No, Akashi-kun doesn't even eat sloppily. I just find it funny."

"Which is?"

"The fact you said the other you is being protective makes you yourself protective."

The redhead was puzzled a bit. "I don't understand?"

"Maybe it's just me. But you really sound like a protective older brother who is apologizing in place of your mischievous little brother."

Akashi laughed at the statement. "Maybe because I probably am."
