"Kamui did what?!" Kagura yelled at her dad, who just came back from his job.
"He left the pretentious boarding school that I was slaving over to get him in to become a gangster! Now the school expects him to attend this fall. I can't afford the contract fee."
"So you want me to pretend to be Kamui for the rest of the year? He's older than me! They won't buy that!"
"No one has seen your stupid brother yet, so this is the perfect opportunity. Please Kagura, I'll do anything!"
Kagura stared at her father for a moment, contemplating what she wanted from him. "Fine, I'll do it, but when I'm ready to receive my payment I expect your full cooperation."
Her father agreed. And so the Vermillion haired teen cut her long hair a bit shorter to match her brother's picture. She taped her breasts down and practiced her "man voice."
She started Silver Soul Academy in class 3-Z as Kamui Yato. It was a high-class school that included a bunch of unique characters. The headmaster was an older woman who smoked every second and her ugly cat look-alike assistant. Her teacher was a silver-haired man named Ginpachi who liked to smoke a lollipop.
Her classmates were super friendly and annoying. There was a nerd named Shinpachi and there was this asshole named Sougo. He liked to pull her hair and pick fights with her. She punched him in the face once but she did her best to steer clear from her classmates. Her cover couldn't be blown.
There were only two people Sougo Okita trusted with his life, his mentor, Kondo Isao, and his sister. Other than those two, no one else even piqued his interest. He tried to kill anyone who went against him. That number person was Hijikata Toshiro, his sister slave, and Kondo's best friend. He hated that guy with his guts. However, on the first day of his class, 3-Z, a new student entered. Kamui Yato. This feminine-looking male was quiet, but Sougo could feel the murderous intent radiating from his body.
Once in gym class, they were playing basketball and Kamui pushed Sougo so far to get the ball that Sougo hurt his elbow. Kamui was supposed to be sent to detention, but Sougo decided to get revenge and hurt Kamui's leg by tripping him. Both parties ended up in detention. It was only the second day of school. The two boys began to nitpick at each other every day since then. It was to the point where Ginpachi Sensei suggested for them to be roommates to get along.
Kamui protested about moving in because of his condition that he did not want to name. Sougo believed it was an excuse and mocked him for being a little P****. Kamui then punched Sougo so hard, he broke his nose in three different places.
"If you two fight one more time, I will have no choice but to expel you and your parents will have to pay the penalty fee," the headmaster said.
So the two boys had to live together. That's when Sougo noticed some things about Kamui. Kamui was pretty decent when they weren't punching each other. Kamui liked mixed martial arts and eating. He was big on day time television and liked to sing along with them. He would sneak out at night when he thought Sougo was sleeping to shower. That part was weird. But Sougo was used to weird characters.
"If you can redo your whole life, what would you do?" Kamui read their homework question out loud.
"Make sure I never met you," Sougo said. Sougo dodged after he felt Kamui's murderous intent and the wind blowing. He was right as a pillow was thrown at him. "Keep your comments to yourself. No one wants to hear how slow you are." Sougo smirked.
"Yeah, yeah. Like you would know hardships."
"Oh? You have porcelain skin like a girl. I think you're the one that doesn't know."
The two-faced each other from their respected desks. Kamui lifted his middle finger. "I just have great genes."
"To look like a little girl?"
"You have a problem with that?"
"No. Not my cup of tea. Maybe if you were one this conversation will be different."
Kamui gagged. "Fantasizing about me?"
This comment made Sougo pause. He had to think about it. Then he recalled the dream he had last night with Kamui and the two of them were doing inappropriate things on his bed. He threw the pillow back at Kamui before leaving the room. He banged on Kondo's door with Hijikata opening it. He pushed him aside and went straight to Kondo, who was napping instead of doing his homework.
"I think something is wrong with me?"
"Sougo? What happened?" The tan-skinned gorilla looking man jumped up in concern.
"Kamui did something to me?"
"Doesn't Kamui fight with you every day?" Hijikata asked.
"Mind your business and go die," he told Hijikata. "Kondo, I need your help. My heart beats a lot when I fight him and I get happy when Ginpachi Sensei smacks him even though I wish I was the one doing it. I even dreamt about us terrorizing the city together and...other things."
Hijikata laughed and Kondo's brown eyes widened. "Sougo, I think you may like Kamui."
"I didn't know you like to play for the other team," Hijikata said.
Sougo, then, took Kondo's lamp by his desk and chucked it at Hijikata.
"You should see what happens? Kamui may like you too. Besides Shinpachi, you're the only one he talks too."
"Nope, I am not gay. I just need to date a female."
That stupid Sougo decided to go out with this girl named Urara from class 3-J, who loved the way that dumb sadist bossed her around. Kagura found it annoying when the girl was always in their room flirting with the freak. It was getting so bad that Kagura refused to enter the room until night time. This made her stay with the plain character Shinpachi in his room until she knew the girl was gone. Just six months into this school and she had yet to feel comfortable.
Shinpachi knew she was a girl from the beginning as Ginpachi sensei told him so that she could have someone to count on. Ginpachi sensei knew about Kagura's situation because of her father, who was good friends with the silver-haired idiot.
"Why should you care if Urara-san is in the room?"
"Because I hate the sounds they make."
Shinpachi yelled, "Are they doing it in the school dorms? That's against school rules."
Kagura shrugged. "So? Kondo stalks your sister all the time. Isn't that against society's rules?"
"Good point, but still he shouldn't be doing that."
"I agree, but what can you do? She's not even all that pretty. I'm better than her," Kagura said.
Shinpachi stared at her. "Do you like Sougo?"
"What? No way."
"Your face is turning red. I think you like him."
"Just because he and I can fight on equal terms and we both can torture people, doesn't mean I like him. We don't even like the same snacks. I like sour and he likes spicy. That doesn't mix."
"Does that matter?"
Kagura pondered for a moment. Her best and worst memories have been with him. Yeah, her first month in school the two of them were trying to murder each other, but once they started living together she did see another side of him. He admired Kondo, liked spicy foods, and was into building things from scratch. He loved his sister and liked pets.
Kagura cursed. "I may like that bastard and I could take him in a heartbeat. But I can't blow my cover. I do not want to get my dad or brother in trouble."
Over the next two months, Kamui and Sougo ignored each other. It was to the point that they were so good without fighting the headmistress allowed them to move out of the room if they wanted to. They didn't. Sougo continued to date Urara and Kamui continued to hang out with Shinpachi and now Soyo. The trio was inseparable.
Sougo wanted to fight Kamui and would try to secretly provoke him, but Kamui would catch on and ignore him. Sougo, then pretended that Kamui didn't exist. Though it was a lie as he would catch himself looking Kamui's way whenever he entered the room.
One day, Ginpachi sensei announced that each person had to do a historical group presentation. Kondo, Hijikata and Sougo had presented on the Shinsengumi, a group of awesome samurai policemen back in the day. Soyo, Shinpachi, and Kamui were presenting on traditions in Japan about males dressing as females for theatrics.
When it was Kamui's turn to present, another male with vermillion hair and bright blue eyes, looking like Kamui entered. He was lean and as tall as Sougo. He was accompanied by older men with scruffy looking hair and tattoos all over their arms. Some of the students were scared. Ginpachi sensei yawned.
Kamui's paled skin somehow became white, then red as he yelled at the invader.
The intruder laughed. "I decided to come back to school. Aruto's school bores me. Thanks for doing this sis."
Sougo jumped up from his seat. "Sis? What do you mean sis?"
Everyone looked at him. The older male grabbed Kamui and pulled him to his side. "This is my sister Kagura. I am the real Kamui."
"You stupid idiot, why did you say that?"
Sougo went to "Kamui" and grabbed "his" face. "Is it true?"
"Kamui" nodded. "My name is Kagura. Sorry for lying."
Sougo laughed, then pulled Kagura's face toward him. The class roared with gasps and the real Kamui pushed Sougo away. Kagura stood still with her eyes wide.
"I'm not gay!" Sougo announced with such joy.
After the incident was explained and all calmed down, the headmistress forced the real Kamui to clean the boys' dorm bathroom for the rest of the year. And because the fake Kamui, Kagura, was a great student (academically), she was awarded a scholarship to stay in the school and 3Z. Of course, their father still had to pay a fee for deceiving the school.
Sougo broke up with Urara and explained to Kagura that he only dated her to prove to himself he didn't have feelings for a male. He proceeded to ask Kagura to be his M. Kagura made fun of him but agreed to date him. When her father was ready to punch the male for touching his daughter, Kagura intervened.
"Its time to pay up old man. I will date Sougo and you can't do anything about it. That is the favor you owe me."
"What? Kagura, I don't agree to those terms."
"You said you will do anything."
Umibozu sighed and glared at Sougo. Then walked away crying to Ginpachi.
"We should stay living together in the dorms," Sougo said.
"Why?"
Sougo smirked. "So I can live out my dreams."
