The Angel's Demon

Chapter 1: Reflection

Angela Dumont was crying in front of the bathroom mirror, slouching in anger. Her hands turned into fist on the sides of the sink, she looked up at herself in the mirror, her light blue eyes shinning more clearly and then the mirror started to crack from the middle, Angela narrowed her eyes and it shattered completely.

The mirror fragments scattered over the bathroom floor, some over the sink and some had exploded with so much force that they were sticking from the walls. Angela had a few cuts but as she looked at them she slowly began to heal until they were all but gone.

She grabbed a broken piece of the mirror to look at herself, when she did the tears began to fall again, she slumped to the floor sobbing. "Why is this happening to me, what did I do?" She was sitting upon a carpet and among the fragments of shattered mirror.

There was an incomprehensible pain residing within her, it was weighing her down, trying to surface but she was afraid it would consume her. She put her arms around herself, as if it would shield her from everything raging within and outside.

"I don't babysit." Dante said crossing over his other leg upon his table. There were several magazines on his table, some papers, pens and a frame with a picture of a blond woman.

Thee woman looked at him appalled by his behavior, she turned back to look at Morrison who was looking at Dante with utter disapproval, his arms folded over one another in front of his chest. "Dante you're getting this job, I don't want calls claiming your tab is full and unpaid!" Morrison said with finality. Dante peered from under his bangs.

"I'll pay you a good sum of money, I'm really worried about my daughter." The woman said.

"Why do you want me for this job?" Dante wanted some answers and now, his pizza was on the way here and he hated when it got cold because of something taking up his time, especially something unnecessary and dull.

"Well my husband just died and my daughter hasn't taken it too well, she's gone too far with some things and she does strange things as well." The woman said tearing up, she pulled out a tissue and wiped the tears that were accumulating under her eyes.

"Strange things, huh?" Dante said, this conversation was getting somewhere.

"Sounds like something up your ally Dante." Morrison commented.

"Fine as long as I can eat my pizza in peace." Dante said getting up and walking towards the door. There was doorbell ring as soon as Dante reached the door. He opened the door seconds later, a young boy wearing a hat was holding a large box.

"Delivery for Mr. Dante!" He said smiling.

"Large pizza with everything on it except olives right?" He said grabbing the box.

"Right sir, will you pay-"

"Put it on my tab." He shut the door and walked back to the table.

Morrison looked at the woman and sighed, "he may not look it but he's the best at what he does."

"I trust your judgment Morrison, you wouldn't have recommended him otherwise." She got up as Dante made his way back, "This is the direction to my estate, I want you there by nine a.m. tomorrow." She said walking towards the door and letting herself out.

"Don't screw this up Dante, I'm warning you Mrs. Dumont is an old friend of mine." Dante just looked at him while stuffing a pizza in his mouth, "if you do this right I'll pay your tab in full again." Morrison said grabbing his hat from Dante's messy table.

"Alright, alright." Dante said grabbing his fourth slice already. He placed the box on his table and grabbed a napkin to wipe his fingers he took the picture Mrs. Dumont had left, "What strange things could possibly be happening…" with someone who looks so angelic? The girl in the picture was smiling without a care, her green eyes bright and her golden hair flowing in the light wind the picture gives a way, this is going to be an interesting mission.
