Well, here it is everybody the final chapter of A Reason For The Rain. I think I did a good job with everything but I'll leave that up to you. And I know that it's impossible, but the proposal that I wrote for Sasuke I desperately want to happen to me! crying Back to the summary, we left off with Sasuke making a special anniversary dinner so lets find out just how well that's going to go...
DISCLAIMER: I own nothing but the plot. The design of the ring belongs to Satosanteru on deviantart and all rights and ownership of the Naruto characters and franchise belong to Masashi Kishimoto. He's going to be at the New York Comic Con this year and if I was going then I would ask him personally why he did what he did.
Stalker-hater: I don't need to say anything to you at this point do I? This is a happy story, don't cause shit just because you don't like it.
Catching the scent of the wondrous aroma wafting through the house and to the balcony, Naruto straightened himself out and stood up to go downstairs where Sasuke was waiting with dinner. Upon reaching the bottom of the steps, his heart stilled in his chest before it began to beat faster than it ever had before. The room was so beautifully breathtaking and it took a few moments for it to sink in for the blonde. He instantly recognized his favorite piece of classical music, Franz Shubert's Ava Maria that Sasuke only let him play on special occasions, and small tears of appreciation and love came to his eyes. The sounds of the soft piano and violins blended with the thunder outside and the gentle roll of the newly falling rain on the patio and roof of the house making it all the more romantic in his eyes. Sasuke came out from the kitchen with a bottle of red wine in his hands and poured some into each glass before looking up and smirking at Naruto.
"I'm glad you could join me. Did you get lost on your way down here?"
"Sasuke…what is all of this? This is so romantic…it's not like you at all."
The raven only smiled and walked calmly over to his boyfriends' side, wrapping one arm around his waist and guiding him to sit down at the table set for two. Sasuke leaned down and planted a gentle, loving kiss on Naruto's stunned lips and as he pulled back he smiled again.
"Happy anniversary, Naruto. I hope you like it."
"I…I love it…but our anniversary isn't until tomorrow. Why do all of this now? Not that I'm not flattered and totally blown away by it all!"
"I wanted to celebrate it with you while the weather was still good to us. I know how much you love your storms and I thought that it would make the event all the more special if we were to celebrate during your favorite kind of weather."
"Sasuke…I love you so much."
"I love you too, Naru-baby. More than you'll ever know in this life. But for now, let's put the mushy stuff aside and enjoy our dinner. It's pasta with a thick and creamy tomato cheese sauce tossed with chicken and topped with mint."
"It smells so good. I'm sure I'll love it!"
Grabbing each of their forks, they tasted the dish and Naruto was surprised by its light refreshing flavor despite its thick sauce and he found himself falling in love with it. Sasuke smiled to himself at the look on Naruto's face as he continued to eat while he too indulged in one of his favorite meals. Through the course of the dinner, the two had laughed lightly while joking and sipping on their wine as the storm grew heavier and heavier. Once they cleared their plates and Sasuke brought a rum cake out for dessert, the lovers had moved to cuddle on the loveseat in the living room; feeding each other bites of the delicious cake and exchanging kisses that quickly became heated. Sasuke had Naruto pinned against the armrest of the piece of furniture they were currently occupying and was about to push up Naruto's shirt, but the blonde stopped him. Sasuke pulled back with a mildly frustrated look on his face; after all, he had wanted to propose before they got to the main event of any anniversary celebration, but the look quickly disappeared. Naruto's eyes were half-lidded and he was smiling gently as a blush dusted his face. Sasuke smiled back and felt his cheeks flush the tiniest bit before he leaned back, bringing Naruto with him and left the loveseat. Naruto smiled wider and led the way to the sliding glass doors that led to the garden. Feeling in his bones that the storm was about to break loose, Sasuke quickly dispelled the other clone at Shino's house. At the flash of lightning that had Naruto holding his breath and leaning against the glass, fireflies began to light up the yard. Naruto, seeing the insects and smiling at their display, turned to Sasuke excitedly.
"Look teme, there are fireflies out! I didn't know that they glowed in storms! They're so pretty."
"Keep looking at them Naru. They may do something since it's rare for them to be out in the rain."
Naruto turned back to gaze out into the yard as the rain fell and the bugs danced. Sasuke stealthily left Naruto's side for a moment to grab the ring and the kitten and returned without being noticed. He guessed that Naruto was mesmerized by the sight since he seemed to have not noticed the meowing of the kitten or his brief absence and even he had to admit that it was a beauty to behold. Shino knew what he was doing when it came to all types of insects, not just beetles as Sasuke had originally been led to believe, and he had to give his praise and thanks to the insect-handler when he told him of Naruto's answer. The bugs continued to fly in relaxing patterns for a few more minutes and when the thunder clapped again, they all moved together to form the vague image of letters.
"Sasuke, you were right. Something is happening but it looks like they're trying to spell something. I can't make out what it is though," Naruto commented without tearing is eyes away from them.
"Look closer, Naruto."
Naruto squinted his eyes and Sasuke got down on one knee beside him. A bright flash of lightning lit the darkened sky and the bugs flew tighter together to spell out the words Sasuke would be asking to Naruto himself in a few seconds. Naruto leaned back as he registered what they spelled and his eyes widened.
"Sasuke they spelled 'Naruto will you marry him?' and they all glowed at the same…time…. What are you…?"
Naruto was rendered speechless yet again as he looked down to see his lover on bended knee beside him; a small pet carrier beside him and a small box in the hand that was outstretched to him. Sasuke was smiling the gentlest smile Naruto had ever seen and his eyes were glowing; flickering to different shades of intensity in the dim light of the room and the sway of the candlelight influenced his gaze. Sasuke took Naruto's left hand and stroked his thumb along his knuckles before bringing it to his lips and kissing the knuckle that connected with his ring finger, all without breaking eye contact. Naruto felt his heart swell and soar with anticipation and happiness as Sasuke began to speak.
"Naruto…anyone who has seen me could tell you what I'm like. Anyone who has fought me could tell you what I think. But you…the only person to have loved me could tell me what I feel. With just a touch of your hand, you could tell when I needed comfort and support or if I needed to be alone and sort out my problems on my own and you gave me that without rhyme or reason. Your words would sometimes bring me anger and grief, although you always showed me love and tolerance whereas some would abandon me at the slightest outburst, but most of all they brought me happiness and courage. When you look at me with those deep, gorgeous eyes, I know that you sense my pain, joy, heartache, lust and most importantly my love for you. Those eyes which see the real me, the one who wants nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with the only person who's ever loved him. You, who has accepted my flaws, you, who wouldn't change who I am, and you who has forgiven the unforgivable…will you grant me the highest honor? Will you take my name, my symbol and my love? Will you, Naruto Uzumaki, marry me, Sasuke Uchiha?"
Tears of joy and love rained down Naruto's cheeks as hot and heavy as the rain pouring down outside was as Sasuke finished his proposal and opened the box containing the ring. Nested inside of the royal blue and burnt orange box was the single-most beautiful ring the blonde had ever set his eyes on. The rubies were polished until they shined as the diamond lit up in the glow of the room, making the colors dance together. Inside of the Uchiha fan Naruto had come to love was the proof that he was an Uzumaki as a sliver of white gold was intertwined in the colors to form his swirl. Embedded onto either side of the ring were two blue and orange gemstones that stacked on top of each other in the best and most gorgeous of ways. While he was admiring the ring, Sasuke took it out of the box without tearing his eyes away from his lover's face and showed him the inside of the ring. Naruto inspected it and more tears came to his eyes as he saw the message Sasuke had inscribed on the inside of the band. Sasuke took Naruto's hand again and while poising the ring at the edge of Naruto's finger, he looked at him more openly than he had been before.
"Will you give me your answer?"
Naruto crumpled down to the floor but didn't move his hand from Sasuke's grasp. Wiping the tears as quickly as he could with only one hand, Naruto chuckled delightedly and beamed at the Uchiha in happiness.
"You know what it is already and you didn't have to ask! My answer is yes, yes, yes, yes a thousand times yes! I will marry you, Sasuke Uchiha!"
Naruto knelt down beside Sasuke as the raven beamed in disbelief and delight as both of them shed tears of joy at the news. Sasuke held Naruto tight, bringing him to his chest and burying his head into the blonde locks of his most precious person. Naruto continued to chuckle in happiness and wrapped his arms around Sasuke, as said man rubbed calming circles in his back to calm his boyfriend, now fiancé, so that he could place the ring on his finger. After a rather loud crash of thunder and a particularly bright flash of light the two separated and Sasuke held Naruto's left hand once more. Looking into the azure gems that were mistaken for eyes when the blonde was born, Sasuke slid the ring onto the third finger and kissed Naruto deeply. Naruto brought the hand up to caress the ravens neck and jaw as they both portrayed their love in a dance of lips and tongues. Pulling away to finally look closer at the ring, Naruto smiled fondly at it as Sasuke picked them both up from the floor. Sasuke looked out into the back yard to notice that the fireflies were still glowing and that they were asking yes or no. Shino must have been watching from somewhere or he had some beetles mixed into the florescent insects midst so Sasuke gentle embraced Naruto again and nodded his head towards the 'yes' side of the yard. The bugs quickly lit up again and were gone.
"So then I take it the rumors going around the village were correct then."
"Yes, although I'm pissed that so many people gossip. I was actually worried that you would find out about it and start to question me."
"I was thinking about asking you why you were leaving the house earlier on your days off but I didn't think a proposal was the reason."
"I had actually been thinking about doing this since New Year's. I know I never really showed an interest in marriage but the more I thought about it the more comfortable I was and the more distraught I became at the thought of you saying no."
"No matter what you thought now, I'm beyond happy about this. I thought that I would have to be the one to ask you if you didn't say something in a year, haha!"
"I wouldn't have let you ask me, dobe."
"Yes you would have. Because you love me and you want me to be happy."
"I wouldn't have let you because you've been the one to make all of the big steps in our relationship. You fell in love first, you wanted us to move together, and if you had proposed I wouldn't have stood for it."
"It doesn't matter now. I have the ring on my finger and now…since you've given me such an amazing anniversary gift, it's only fair that you get yours as well."
"I never said the proposal was the gift, my dear dobe."
"What? If this wasn't the gift then what…?"
"Look down at our feet."
The blonde looked down and scanned the floor quickly until his eyes fell upon the carrier beside Sasuke. Snapping his head back up to look at his fiancé's face, Sasuke only smirked and told Naruto to open it. Naruto kneeled down again and opened the little door to the crate and gasped in surprise. Reaching his hands into the small crate, he pulled out the tiny kitten and held it up in front of him with a gleeful smile on his face. Naruto's inner child showed himself as he melted, almost literally, at the fluffy creature he now held in front of him. The tiny being gave a soft mewl and licked at the thumb that was stroking its' whiskered cheeks.
"Oh Sasuke! He's so cute, I can't believe it!"
"He's a Ragamuffin. He's only thirteen weeks and the best part about this breed…is that they don't fully mature for four years."
"You mean I have a kitten for the next four years?!" Naruto almost squealed as he brought the orange puff ball to his chest to cradle it.
"Uh-huh. We'll have to go to the pet store tomorrow to buy food, toys, treats, dishes, more collars, and litter boxes for him but it won't be too much of a problem. Speaking of, take a look at his collar."
Naruto lifted the kitten up again and examined its' neck to find a light blue collar studded with orange sapphires. Blue eyes widened and Naruto's jaw slacked, just slightly.
"The woman we saw earlier today at the jewelry store helped me pick out the gems. They're a rare orange sapphire and they had to be imported from the Land of Gems south of here."
"How much did you pay for this?!"
"You shouldn't care or have a need to know. That's between me, the saleswoman and my checkbook."
"You know I can just look at your checkbook, right?"
"Even if you do, I won't care. And I'm not letting you take it back, beside it suits him. Now what do you want to name him?"
"I like Juji."
"Engaged. I like it. Well then, Juji, welcome to the family."
Naruto gave Juji a light kiss on his forehead and Sasuke scratched his ears before Naruto set him down on the floor to let him explore his new house. The kitten was bouncing around and just generally being cute before Naruto grabbed his fiancé's hand and led him upstairs. With a smirk on his face and a wicked gleam in his eye, Sasuke hoped beyond hope that his proposal had won him some love making. He knew that Naruto liked to mix things up for special occasions and had hoped that he wouldn't be disappointed this year. Coming into their room, Naruto sat Sasuke down on the bed and sat in his lap; kissing the raven all the while and removing his shirt. Sasuke grabbed his hips but before things got too heated, Naruto guided the pale hands to grasp at the hem of his shirt. Pulling back and giving the blonde a questioning glance, Sasuke cocked his head to the side in curiosity but Naruto only smiled.
"At least now I know that you won't be angry at me for my gift to you. Go ahead…take it off."
Curiosity getting the better of him, and impatience from not having access to his beautiful body for almost two weeks, Sasuke placed both of his hands on Naruto's stomach and trailed them up his body to his nipples; bringing the shirt along with them. Naruto lifted his arms and finally removed the piece of clothing that Sasuke had come to hate. Nothing looked different with him from the front…so then it had to be his back. Naruto smiled and giggled a little before getting out of his fiancé's lap and instructed him to close my eyes.
"What if I don't want to close them? You've been hiding whatever it is in plain sight for nearly two weeks and I'm tired of waiting."
"It's a surprise, teme, just do it."
"Fine…they're closed."
He heard more rustling so he could only assume that Naruto had taken off his pants. Feeling the bed dip beside him and feeling Naruto crawl to the lay in the center of it, more shifting was heard and, what he guessed was the positioning of pillows, Naruto finally told him to open his eyes. Popping them open, Sasuke turned quickly to look at his love and lost his ability to breathe. Surrounded by nine beautiful orange tails…was the Uchiha fan tattooed on his baby's back. He had his head turned to face Sasuke and his smile grew wider than it already was. Naruto adjusted himself a little bit more and wiggled his finger at his raven to come closer to him. Mesmerized, Sasuke crawled until he was beside him and took a tan hand into his left one and traced the ink with his right. The Uchiha was more than surprised and beyond touched that his love had done this, knowing about his fear of needles and Sasuke's cheeks became wet with more tears.
"I had Kiba and Shikamaru come with me last week to go to the next village over to get this done. I knew I couldn't get it done here because of all the people I knew would talk. I swore the two of them to secrecy until I showed it to you."
"How long did this…? Were you in pain? Were you scared?"
"I was terrified; which is why I brought Shikamaru with me. He held me down with his Shadow Possession Jutsu so that I wouldn't be all over the table while the tattoo artist did her thing and Kiba was there to keep me distracted."
"Naruto…this is… I don't even have the words."
"I don't need them; I could tell when you first saw it that you liked it. I got the idea after the talk we had on the couch a couple weeks ago."
"I love it, and I love you. I love you so much."
"Sasuke…there's also something that I need to tell you. I wanted to wait until your birthday but I don't think that I can top a proposal."
"What's that, baby?"
"As you know…I'm a jinchuriki and therefore have…certain qualities about me."
"Yes…."
"Well a couple of months ago I found out something at my doctor's appointment with grandma Tsunade."
"And that would be?" Of course Sasuke already knew what Naruto was going to say but he wasn't going to tell him that he already knew courtesy of Kakashi. Sasuke understood that this must have been sensitive for Naruto to talk about and therefore wanted to tell him about his ability to have children himself.
"I can have a baby. I have a womb and I don't know how exactly everything works yet but we can have a baby…between the two of us."
"That…sounds amazing baby! You know that I always imagined little versions of us running around and now we can have that."
"So you're not…freaked out or anything?"
"Why would I be freaked out, Naruto? It's just something more about you that I can love. The only question I have is, do I have to use condoms now when we have sex?"
"Grandma Tsunade said no, since all I have to do is basically tell the fuzz bucket inside of me to knock me up. I already talked to him about it and he promised that he wouldn't surprise me with a baby if we weren't ready for one."
"So we can still have sex normally?"
"As far as I understand, yes."
"I love you more and more each day. You know that right?"
"I know…and I love you too. Now…I've denied the both of us what we've wanted for too long now. Claim me again, show me who I belong to, prove your love."
The night was bliss; hot, sweaty, magical bliss. The two had made love until the storm cleared and continued on until daybreak. Sleep took them into her beautiful arms after multiple orgasms, dozens of 'I love you's and hundreds of kisses. As they both fell into unconsciousness, with their hands intertwined, Sasuke knew that the only thing that was on both of their minds was the ring on Naruto's finger and their love of rain and storms.
Now they had to plan a wedding….
I bet you weren't expecting that from Naruto! A bunch of you were asking me if he was pregnant and I had considered it or a little while but then I remembered how Sasuke wanted to be engaged for two years, and raising a baby in that time wouldn't have been ideal for them. Plus you have to remember that before this chapter, Naruto hadn't told Sasuke that he could have kids; Kakashi was the fat mouth on that one. Naruto wouldn't be the type to tie Sasuke down with parenthood if he didn't even know if Sasuke was going to want to get married. Naruto is stupidly smart like that, I think. But I hope that clears some things up for everyone and I hope that it was worth the wait! Stay tuned though for the next installment of the 'Thunder' series and a huge thank you to AnonimadeLima-AnonymousofLima and berry5tz for following this from the beginning and leaving such wonderful reviews on almost every chapter! I love you guys and I hope that you'll continue to support future works of mine like you have!
