It's the sequel you've all been waiting for! That's right, this is the sequel to my earlier fic 'Thunderstorm' and I'm very proud of it so far. I hope that you guys will like this one as much as you have the last one. This one's rating is slightly higher than its predecessor but I'm not going to be adding any lemons. Some of it will be lemon-scented, but I'm sorry to say that there will be no SasuNaru naked goodness in great detail. I'm trying to keep it in the same mind-set I had when I wrote 'Thunderstorm' so for better or worse...read on.

Sasuke Uchiha was a man with a mission. In his time of being in the elite ANBU Black-Ops he has been on many perilous and life-threatening assignments but none of them could compare to what he was about to embark on now. He had waited a full year for this, and he wasn't about to back down. This mission was by no means life threatening but the outcome would definitely be life altering. Are you curious yet? Allow me to enlighten you, my dear people for this mission is the proposal of Naruto Uzumaki – future Rokudaime of the village of Konoha. Sasuke and Naruto had been together as an official couple for nearly three years and Naruto's birthday, and their anniversary, was fast approaching. Sasuke needed to execute his proposal strategy before said birthday arrived and he was hoping that their anniversary would present the perfect opportunity. The only problem was that he didn't think the weather was going to cooperate with his plans.

Ever since the two of them had confessed their love for one another during the 'thunderstorm of the year' three years ago, the two have been inseparable. Sasuke and Naruto learned many things about each other in that time and have fought about just as many. For example, Sasuke learned three very important things about his blonde-haired lover. One was to never wake him up during his treasured thunderstorms unless it was a life or death situation for fear of having his family jewels ripped off with nothing but sandpaper. Another was that the kitchen was Naruto's safe haven and if the blonde was upset, he had to make sure that there was enough flour, sugar, eggs, milk, chocolate, baking powder, salt and butter to last for six cakes and four batches of Sasuke's favorite pecan cookies. Lastly, never interrupt Naruto in the bath unless you were invited in. Naruto cherished his bath time almost as much as he did thunderstorms.

Naruto learned many things about Sasuke as well. The first and most important was that he despised anybody looking at Naruto with lustful eyes. Sasuke had put many people in the hospital because he thought someone was undressing his boyfriend with their eyes. Sasuke was overly possessive when it came to Naruto and Naruto had to pity his other teammate Sai. The man had made the mistake of commenting on the size of Naruto's penis in front of Sasuke and the raven-haired man went ballistic. Sai had to spend three months in the intensive care unit to recover from the chidori that connected with the base of his spine. The second thing Naruto learned about his lover was that he always folded his clothes a certain way and if Naruto happened to do it incorrectly, Sasuke would re-fold everything. He was mainly particular about his boxers for some unknown reason, but Naruto didn't question it. The third thing was that Sasuke had a weakness for the baked goods that Naruto enjoyed making. Even though his boyfriend didn't have much of a sweet tooth, he did occasionally crave something with sugar in it and his favorite thing to have were pecan cookies with spearmint flavored tea. After Sasuke got his fix of sugar, he was particularly 'affectionate' with Naruto. It was a good reason to always have some ready for whenever his lover wanted them.

Back to the main point of the story, Sasuke was sitting on the roof of the house that he and Naruto had built for the two of them a year ago wondering just how he was going to pop the question to his adorable little kitsune. Sasuke sighed and leaned back on his elbows and looked up at the bright blue sky in disappointment.

"I am a twenty-one year old ANBU of the Village Hidden in the Leaves and I am soon to be the chief of staff of the Hokage Protection Detail that all new Hokage were ordered to have. I have everything I could ever want in life but why can't I come up with a good way to propose to my darling?!"

"Sasuke, can you come down here and help me with something?!"

"I'll be down in a minute, Naruto."

He jumped down off of the roof and landed on the back porch where he heard his love calling for him. Naruto was tending to the garden in his baggy jean shorts and the sun hat that Sasuke had bought for him to prevent sunburn. Sasuke licked his lips when he drank in the sight of his shirtless boyfriend and cleared his throat to ask what Naruto needed.

"Normally, I would make a clone to do this but right now by hands are full and I can't really weave signs. Can you go inside to get me some of the potted plants that we have out? I need to transfer some of these inside and I don't have enough pots anymore."

"Tell me which ones you want out here, dobe, and I'll get them."

"The strawberry plant, the tomato plant, two of the lilies I don't care which, the lemon tree and the black irises your mother took care of."

"Tall order Naruto. It's a good thing I love you."

Sasuke ventured inside and made three clones to retrieve the plants Naruto had listed. One of the clones came back with red lilies and the irises, another had Naruto's prized tiger lilies and the lemon tree and finally the last one had the tomato and strawberry plants. Sasuke himself grabbed two bags of fresh dirt and mulch from the gardening shed and the four of them made their way over to Naruto.

"Alright, thanks so much my multiple bastards! Set them all down where you are and help yourselves to your cookies you love so much. I'm going to be out here for a while."

"Naruto, I'm going out for a bit."

"Where you heading?"

"Just out. I need to talk to Kakashi about something."

"Well don't let me stop you. Tell Iruka-sensei I say hi and congratulations on getting approved for the adoption process."

"I will. I love you; I'll see you in a bit."

The Uchiha bent down to give his kitsune a kiss on the cheek and jumped back onto the roof to make his way to his old sensei's house. Sasuke and Naruto lived on the outskirts of the village in order to have more privacy and land so the trip into town could be time consuming if the two needed anything. Hauling back groceries was a chore that Sasuke didn't particularly enjoy but it was just something he had to deal with in order to live where he and his love wanted. Easily evading the townspeople and coming to his teachers' home, Sasuke knocked on the door and waited until a silver haired man greeted him with, what he could only read behind the mask, a smile.

"Well hello Sasuke, what brings you to the middle of town today?"

"Cut the bullshit, Hatake I only come to your place if I need advice and you know it."

"Well let's not delay any longer then, I do enjoy these times we have together."

"I know you think I'm your kid, but I don't need the mushy parenting crap."

"Ah, but I need to get into the habit of the mushy parenting crap, since Iruka and I will be adopting a baby soon. He's been so excited about the whole thing that he's been screaming and laughing so much and I've needed to get out of the house for a few hours to keep my hearing. That's a precious asset to a ninja, you know."

"Whatever. Naruto says congrats by the way."

"Tell him we thank him and that Iruka expects him over soon. Now let's get down to why you're here."

The two men made their way into the living room, the very same room where three years ago Sasuke confronted the same man about his feelings for his blonde idiot. Kakashi plopped himself down in the recliner as Sasuke took a seat on the couch beside him. The silver-haired man propped his feet up and grabbed his little orange book and settled himself in for the long talk that he was sure Sasuke and he would be having.

"I wouldn't get too comfortable right now. This is really important to me, I need you to listen."

"This is how I deal with important situations. I'm comfortable now so why don't you just say what's on your mind?"

"Fine but you asked for it. I want to propose to Naruto."

Kakashi's visible eye widened and he dropped his book in his lap. He blinked a few times at Sasuke and all Sasuke could do was smirk at his sensei's reaction. Regaining his composure, Kakashi put his legs back down on the floor and put his book back into the side pouch of the recliner. He placed his elbows on his knees and folded his hands between them, leaned forward and looked in Sasuke's eyes.

"You're serious about this?"

"Of course."

"How long have you been thinking about it?"

"I don't know, almost six months? I know how I want to do it but I don't think that the conditions I want to have will favor me."

"If you've been thinking about this for so long why haven't I heard about it before now?"

"Because before now I didn't need any help. Now I do."

"And what exactly do you need help with, Sasuke?"

"First I have to tell you how I want to propose to him."

"Okay, I'm all ears kiddo."

"I wanted to do it in the middle of a thunderstorm. I wanted to take him out to dinner before it started and then pop the question in front of the restaurant when it started to rain. If he said yes I would have taken him outside so the both of us could run wild in it. The problem now is that the rainy season is almost over and there have been no storms whatsoever. What's even worse is that Naruto seems to need one now. He's been acting strange for a few weeks and something tells me that he really wants it to rain."

"I have to say that that does seem like a good way to propose but what makes you think he needs a storm? It has rained a few times this year."

"He needs a big storm; thunder, lightning, wind, heavy rain – the whole shebang. I think he's upset that he hasn't gotten one yet this year. We've both been almost worshipping the weather channel hoping for one but day after day we're disappointed. Every day he doesn't have one, if he doesn't have a mission or academy duty, he's out gardening or baking. I'm just happy that he isn't at the 'leave me alone I'm bathing' stage yet."

"I remember the last time he got in one of those moods. Iruka came home with tears running down his face because he thought the boy was going to kill him."

"For somebody who has known Naruto for almost his entire life, Iruka should have known better than to barge into our private hot spring like that."

"Naruto was very apologetic later though."

"He was only like that because I had fucked him crazy."

"Well I thank you for that."

"You're a pervert and don't you dare imagine what we do in bed! It's bad enough that he gets stared at from random strangers but I don't need it from you as well!"

"Sasuke, Sasuke, Sasuke, I have no reason to imagine what you two do between the sheets. I have my Iruka-koi for that! Besides, when Naruto is out in public with you the people of this village know better than to look at Naruto with their lecherous eyes."

"That's when I'm with him. What about when he's not beside me? I know that he gets stared at constantly but he's just so oblivious to all of it! What if he gets grabbed by somebody and he's forced to do something with them? What if someone touches him, or worse gropes him?! Naruto is mine and mine alone and if anybody thinks they can touch my Naruto then they have to face me!"

"Calm down, Uchiha you know Naruto can handle himself. I don't know how he puts up with that possessiveness you have."

"He said he wouldn't change it; he even said he thought it would change me if he asked me to stop being so possessive. I know he's had to deal with a lot of my bad qualities but he keeps saying he doesn't mind. He just tells me that it's another reason why he loves me."

"I can't really say anything to that. I don't understand why you put up with his ramen obsession but it can't really be helped."

"I think it's cute when he has ramen broth all over his face. It makes him look innocent and tasty."

"Watch yourself then; you don't want Naruto to know that."

"I told him already – multiple times in fact."

"I applaud you."

"I don't know if I should thank you or not but can we get back to the point?"

"Fine by me. So you know how you want to propose but you don't know if you can is that right?"

"I know I can but if it doesn't storm I need another way to do it."

"Your anniversary is in two weeks right?"

"Yeah."

"Why don't you do it then? I'm sure that after a night of 'celebrating' like you two always do, he'll be more than open to the idea of a long hot bath with you. You can just set up the typical candles and roses scene and do it then."

"I don't want a 'typical' proposal. Naruto deserves the absolute best and I want to show him that I can be the absolute best for him. Plus, that's how Sai proposed to Sakura last year; I know you're called the copy ninja, but seriously at least come up with something original for your 'son's' proposal."

"You really are serious about this."

"I already told you that!"

"Have you even asked if you can marry Naruto?"

"Huh?"

"Have you asked permission yet? From Iruka and Tsunade; you know they'll want to know about this before you two just come up and say 'hey you guys guess what, we're engaged!' If you want to prove to Naruto that you're the best suitor for him then I suggest you do it the gentleman's way."

"But I'm not a gentleman."

"It doesn't matter; if you want to marry Naruto it's a good idea to get some approval first."

"I take it I have your approval?"

"Oh of course you do; I think that it's about time something like this happened between you two!"

"Trust me I've wanted this to happen for a while too. Since you're no help in providing an alternate proposal, I'm leaving."

"Make sure you talk to Iruka and Tsunade. Remember to ask them if you have their blessings!"

"Whatever. Iruka should be at the academy right now, correct?"

"He's taking the kids out on their first survival field trip with some of the genins but he should be back home by ten o'clock if everything goes well."

"Fine, I'll just see Tsunade first. Later and congrats on the adoption again."
