I was thinking of doing this for a while. I have seen other people's fanfic expand on the Gen Rex episodes (what happens after the show). They are good and I would like to try that too. But I don't want to copy them. I wanted to experiment in my stories. I read another fanfic in a different fandom where the person tells the story in conversations only. It's sort of like my textspeak story but face to face. Every word they say is supposed to develop the relationship, convey the atmosphere, tell who's talking, etc. I wanted to try this format. These are all conversations between Six and Holiday starting from the first episode. Don't know how far I'll get but I'll update when I get to writing the conversations they have in my head. Let me know if you think this is too confusing or boring or if you want to read more.
I don't own this at all.
"The Day That Everything Changed"
"Do you have those reports, Holiday?"
"They're right here… and thank you."
"For what?"
"For getting Rex a larger room. I didn't think you were listening to me when I said we needed to treat him like a person."
"I always listen, doctor."
"I know you listen, but there's listening and then there's listening."
"Now you're getting cryptic."
"Nevermind… I don't know what strings you had to pull but Rex loves his new room."
"I'm sure the monkey loves it too."
"Hmmm, you got that right. He's already set up his hammock."
"I hope a bigger room doesn't mean bigger messes."
"He's a teenager, Six. I think it's a requirement to have a messy room."
"I was never that way."
"Really? I didn't think you were ever a teenager."
"Very funny, Holiday."
"I thought so... I can't imagine you as a teen."
"Well, I was once, as we all were."
"My room was a pig sty according to my mother and Nanna."
"That's hard to believe."
"Well, I had my books all over the place and I ran out of room for my experiments. Once I lost my guinea pig in my room."
"I hope you found it."
"Of course! I heard it squealing from under the piles of my papers. Beverly was the one who actually found her. She use to come to my room to play…"
"Hey, it's not good to dwell too much in the past."
"...The past is all I have left of her."
"That's not true. She'll be cured one day."
"You think so?"
"You're the stubborn scientist."
"I am, aren't I? Some help I am."
"If anyone can do it, you can."
"...Thanks, Six. Sorry for badgering you about Rex."
"It's all right. Sometimes I need to be reminded who I'm dealing with."
"You mean me or Rex."
"Both."
"You're a strange one, Six."
"No different than anyone else."
"Now that's a fallacy, if I ever heard one. You are as different as different can be. I've never met anyone like you before."
"I can say the same about you."
"I suppose so. Well, it's getting late and I need to run those tests on Rex tomorrow to see what Van Kleiss was trying to do."
"We need to keep an eye on him. I have a bad feeling about that one."
"By all accounts he was a brilliant scientist."
"All the more dangerous."
"I agree. He seems to have an unhealthy obsession with our boy."
"...Holiday, we need to keep our relationships with…"
"I know, I know… professional. But come on Six, you can't tell me that you can look at him and not see a vibrant, funny…"
"Yes, he's hilarious."
"Are you still upset about the nanny comment?"
"I'm not upset about anything."
"Because you are sort of like a nanny."
"Don't you start too, Holiday."
"Okay, okay, sorry. I'll see you in the morning, Six.
"Good night, Holiday."
"Good night, Six."
