Shinobi Pokemon Trainer

This is an idea I had. I always liked Naruto x Pokemon crossovers. So I had to try one out.

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while and I'm sorry for that. But college takes up a lot of my time. So I rarely get to write. Anyways moving on!

As it has been quite a while since I uploaded a new chapter, here's brief refresher for those who might've forgotten:

Name: Naruto Uzumaki

Age (Now): 10 Years

Height(Now): 4foot 10 inches

Current Team:-

1.) Ralts (Female) - Level 15 – Synchronize and Telepathy

2.) Torchic (Male) – Level 12 – Blaze and Speed Boost

3.) Squirtle (Male) – Level 12 – Torrent and Rain Dish

***If you've come to this chapter straight away without reading the new edited previous chapters, I suggest you take a few minutes to just quick read them. Although nothing major has been changed, it'll still be good to refresh the story in your mind.

Chapter 5:

It was now night time. Naruto's battle with Keito earlier today had soured everyone's mood and so it was decided that they would camp out in the night and leave the forest next morning.

Naruto was sitting by the campfire deep in thought. Ralts was sleeping beside him, using his lap as a pillow. Meanwhile Oak was already fast asleep in sleeping bag opposite to them. The old man must be quite tired as he fell asleep quite quickly.

In Naruto's hand was a Pokeball. In that Pokeball was his brand new pokemon, Squirtle.

When Oak asked him to take Squirtle on his journey, Naruto was honestly surprised. Oak didn't seem to be the type of person to just randomly give away his precious pokemon to a stranger he met just a few hours ago. And it was quite obvious that both Squirtle and Oak cared a lot about each other.

From what Oak had told him, this Squirtle was the offspring of his grandson, Gary's Blastoise. Gary had decided that he didn't really need this Squirtle and didn't want to simply throw him away. So Gary decided to leave him with his grandfather where he would be taken care of.

Oak had happily taken care of Squirtle. Both were quite fond of each other. So Oak's request confused Naruto.

Until Oak explained his reasons to Naruto. Squirtle wanted to travel. He wanted to have fun with a trusted trainer. Oak wanted Squirtle to experience the world. He wanted the little Squirtle to expand his horizons and didn't want to bind him to his Lab.

Apparently he saw something in Naruto that caused him to believe in him.

Hearing Oak's response made Naruto feel touched. In face of such trust, he could only give a single reply, full of promise and determination.

"I won't disappoint you. I will take good care of him. That's a promise of a lifetime."

Naruto repeated his vow in the dead of the night, while firmly grasping Squirtle's pokeball in his hand.

"Squirtle….. You agreed to leave Professor Oak's side, whom you regard as a parent, to be my partner. You have no idea how much that means to me. It must have taken a lot of courage to decide to travel in this huge unknown world. Thank you buddy…. I promise….. I promise that you will not regret your decision"

With that Naruto decided to finally sleep. His heart filled with determination and with excitement over what is to come in the future.

It was now morning. After a good night of sleep, everyone aka Naruto, Oak and Ralts were now feeling much better. After munching on some edible berries for breakfast, Naruto and Oak decided that it was now time to finally leave this forest.

On their way, Naruto brought out his Squirtle and scanned him with the Pokedex once more to check him more thoroughly this time. He had completely forgotten about doing it yesterday.

"Hmm now let's see….. Squirtle ..you are Level 12, wow you're same level as Torchic? Nice…. Now your abilities are Torrent and Rain Dish. Now to see what moves you know. Hmmm ok so you know Tackle, Tail Whip, Water Gun, Withdraw and Aqua Jet as well?! Damn Squirtle you've got one hell of a moveset buddy" Naruto whistled, clearly impressed.

Squirtle appeared to be quite happy to be praised like that. It was an odd feeling for him, to be appreciated by someone other than Oak. But this new feeling, while unknown, wasn't unpleasant in the least.

With that their trip continued. They encountered some bug pokemon which Naruto defeated with his Squirtle to get some experience in working together with him.

(After some time)

Rustboro City Entrance Gates

"Finally! I thought we would never get out of this forest. I can now sleep on an actual bed and not on the forest floor. There's only so much nature that my old bones can endure." Oak cheered as they neared the end of the forest.

"Jeez you only spent one night sleeping in the forest y'know! Stop being a drama queen will ya Professor…" Naruto sighed in exasperation.

Oak simply laughed it off.

"Hm? Who is that?" Oak said as he noticed someone approaching them.

The person approaching them appeared to be a young woman.

"Hello Professor Oak. You sure took your time huh?" The woman greeted Oak. Oak recognized the young woman instantly.

"Karen? What are you doing here?"

The now known Karen rolled her eyes. She had a feeling this would happen. "Did you already forget professor? I'm your escort back from Kanto. I dropped you off at Petalburg as you requested. You wanted to take a walk through the forest before coming to Rustboro City remember?"

Oak had a blank look on his face. A few seconds ticked by until he gained a look of recognition.

"Oh yeah! Now I remember. Man I must've forgotten about it. Hehehe" Oak sheepishly replied.

Naruto and Ralts face palmed at Oak's forgetfulness. They knew Professor Oak was quite old but this?! Man no wonder the poor guy needed an escort. Meanwhile Squirtle, who was out of his Pokeball, sighed tiredly. Yeah he was quite used to the Professor's antics but it was still embarrassing for it to happen in front of a group of people.

Unlike Naruto, Karen on the other hand was not at all surprised. Oak's somewhat poor memory to anything NOT pokemon related was quite famous (more like infamous). Hell there were some instances where he would even forgets his grandson's name!

Shaking off her thoughts, Karen focused on the Professor's companions.

"Ah hello young man. I am Karen of the Johto Elite Four. Nice to meet you"

Seeing that he was being addressed to, Naruto greeted in kind. "Oh hello miss. My name is Naruto and this is Ralts. We just started our journey a few days ago. It is nice to meet you as well."

"R-Ralts Ralts Ralts!"

Karen observed in amusement as the Ralts on Naruto's shoulder greeted with shyness whereas the Squirtle looked half asleep and was leaning on Naruto's leg. 'What an adorable sight!' she gushed mentally. Of course she never spoke such thoughts out loud. After all she had an image to maintain.

"I see you had some company during your walk in the forest, Professor Oak. But I think we should leave don't you think so? After all it would be quite rude of us to keep Mr. Stone waiting." She gently reminded the Professor.

"Ahh right! You have a point there Karen." Oak responded. He then turned to Naruto. "I am afraid we would have to go our separate ways now young man. I have to attend a very important meeting and you have to train for your gym battle. Good luck for that Naruto. Take care kid. And you too Squirtle."

"Sq-Squir…" Squirtle looked up at Oak with moist eyes. He knew this would eventually come. He knew that once he accepted going with Naruto, he would have to say goodbye to Oak.

"Sq-Squirtle *sniff* " The reality was starting to set in, that he would have to leave Oak's side.

He had been preparing himself for this moment. Trying to toughen up his resolve.

But….

But then why was it that his heart felt so heavy all of a sudden? Why was it that he couldn't utter a single sound?

Why was it that he felt all choked up?

Oak seeing this, his eyes started to get moist as well and he kneeled down in front of Squirtle.

"Sq-Sq-SQUIRTLE!" And finally the dam burst. His bottled up feelings were finally unleashed as Squirtle gave out a cry and leapt into Oak's arms. Crying his heart out.

Oak also felt choked and simply hugged him as tightly as he could. It just feels like yesterday…

"Hmm whats this?! The egg is hatching?! Amazing!"

"Oh wow! It's a baby Squirtle!"

The newly born Squirtle opened its little eyes and gazed at Oak.

"Sq-Squir!" the little Squirtle squeaked in delight and Oak laughed merrily at his happy face.

…

It was a stormy night and Oak was doing some late night work. He was focused on his work when suddenly…

"Sq-Squirtle….." Baby Squirtle's whimpering caught his attention.

"Hm? What is it Squirtle?" he asked gently.

There was loud thunder clap all of a sudden and Baby Squirtle whimpered even more.

Seeing this Oak gently smiled, picked him up in his arms and hugged him as close as possible. He hummed a lullaby for Squirtle until he fell asleep with a little smile on his face.

….

"WOW Squirtle! You are amazing! Just look at you so young but so strong"

"SQUIRTLE!" Squirtle beamed happily at Oak's praise.

…..

Many such fond memories began to resurface within both of their minds. Oak gently soothed Squirtle as he was finally beginning to calm down a little.

"Hey little guy. I'm sure that you are nervous. You are unsure of what to do. And I can understand that. This is a very big step for you. Its okay to be afraid. But know this. You won't be alone. Naruto will be there for you. Don't you worry he will take good care you. I promise." Oak soothed Squirtle.

Squirtle was finally calming down. He slowly released Oak from his hug. He looked up saw Oak's smile.

"I am so proud of you. You have no idea how proud I was when you decided to go on your journey with Naruto. I am so happy that you decided to go ahead and fulfill your dreams. It just seems like yesterday that you hatched and now look at you! Old enough to go on your journey! Oh I'm so proud of you, my brave little Squirtle"

Oak's heartfelt words made Squirtle very happy. He was lucky to have Oak. He was lucky to be raised by Oak.

Oak had taken care of him since he hatched. For him, Oak was his parent. He was lucky to have Professor Oak as his Father. And now with his father's blessings with him, he would take his first step to fulfill his dream.

With his resolve renewed, Squirtle turned around and looked at Naruto. His gaze full of determination and confidence. He was ready.

Naruto looked at Squirtle's resolve and smiled.

"Squirtle… I promise. I promise that I will take good care you. I promise that you will never regret your decision." Naruto declared with conviction as he held out Squirtle's pokeball.

On hearing Naruto's conviction, Squirtle smiled contently and went inside his pokeball.

Oak and Karen were smiling as they watched this.

"Naruto….. I know I have already said this enough times but please…."

"Don't worry professor. I will take good care of him. I already promised. And I never go back on my word. That is my way of life."

Oak smiled in satisfaction and motioned Karen to lead the way. Both Karen and Oak smiled gratefully at Naruto one last time before they finally went their own way.

Later that night, Naruto and his pokemon were resting in the Pokemon Center. Naruto brought out Squirtle to play with Ralts and Torchic. They had trained hard all day and Naruto believed they deserved some fun time before going to sleep.

Ralts always the cheerful one, enthusiastically played with Squirtle and made him feel at home. Soon enough Squirtle had opened up to them and revealed his somewhat mischievous side.

Torchic tried to act like all "cool and aloof" and didn't appear to want to do anything fun. But the poor guy was dragged into their craziness anyway. Watching them mess around like that made Naruto laugh and decided to have fun with them.

He still had tomorrow's gym battle in mind but for now he will focus on bonding with his little partners.

AND THERE IT IS. Chapter 5. FINALLY! I know I made you all wait a lot but I finally I did it. Initially I was gonna finish within a week, but I just decided to push past my cold and finished it today. Seeing your responses made me want to work harder and finish this chapter today itself.

In the previous chapters, there wasn't much emotional content. They focused more on storytelling rather than emotions. So I tried to write an emotional chapter this time.

I hope it come it okay and didn't seem too awkward….
