Solas sat and stared at the baby. His child. His little daughter. He'd only just found out about her, but still he felt love well in his chest. Obviously this was what the spirits had wanted to keep from him. They were right he supposed, finding out while was he in the fade would have been…wrong, somehow.

He gently pushed the blanket back from her head so he could see her better in the fire light. She looked so much like her mother, but like him as well.

When he gently touched Amarthelian's sleep flushed cheek again, the long black lashes swept open and he felt his breath become heavy as his own eyes stared up at him.

"Hello Pen Titha." He said when he could speak past the lump in his throat. Amarthelian regarded him, blinking slowly. Her large eyes never leaving his face. His little daughter. Solas brushed a hand over the silky hair that covered her scalp. So soft.

He leaned down and kissed her forehead. When he drew pack Amarthelian had closed her eyes and was sleeping again. He tucked the blanket more firmly about the baby and stood to take her back to her crib.

He had put her down, fussed over whether she was warm enough or not, then left her to sleep. When he turned from the crib he looked over at Eamane sleeping soundly in the large bed.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't here Vhenan." Solas went and sat back on the couch in front of the fire and buried his face in his hands. He'd made such a mess of everything.

Eamane woke up late the next morning. Amarthelian hadn't woken her up. Odd. Normally her daughter was awake and yelling for her by now. Then she heard it. The voice she'd cried over when she found out she was pregnant with his child, the voice she'd wanted to hear so much, now the voice was….annoying her? Perhaps she held more resentment then she'd thought.

She sat up in bed and looked over at Solas sitting in her arm chair with little Amy. The baby seemed to be enthralled with whatever Solas was telling her. Her large eyes riveted on Solas's face.

This annoyed her as well. She had limited time with her daughter in the morning and usually used the time feeding, bathing and just being with her daughter.

"…and while both Gods slumbered to heal their wounds, Fen'Harel chewed through his ropes and escaped. See Pen Titha? The Dread Wolf escaped in the end." Solas was saying as Eamane walked across the room to where they sat.

"Telling her elvish tales already Solas?"

"They are part of who she is. Knowing her history and preserving it is important, you of all people should realise that."

"Yes I do realise that." Eamane couldn't seem to help snapping at him.

Solas merely nodded, "Leliana brought your breakfast up earlier." He gestured to a tray holding cheese, bread and tea, "I think I managed to surprise her for once." He said.

Eamane rolled her eyes and rubbed her forehead. Great, she'd have to answer a barrage of questions later. Leliana had become surprisingly protective of Amy and herself since Cassandra had left to become Divine.

Amathelian had other ideas it seemed, after hearing her mother speak she started to fuss in Solas's arms, breakfast would have to wait.

"She needs feeding." Eamane said, walking over and picking her up out of Solas's arms. "I need to feed her….myself." Solas sat there for another minute not really comprehending then enlightenment dawned.

"Oh, well I have things to see to this morning. I will come back later Vhenan." He said getting up and kissing the baby on her soft hair before walking over to the steps. Eamane waited to hear the door at the bottom of the steps close before opening her shirt to feed her daughter.

Solas wasn't surprised that Leliana stalked up to him as soon as he shut the door to Eamanes quarters. Solas allowed her to pull him up the stairwell to her office. Leliana ordered everyone out and slammed the door.

"Where have you been Solas?" She asked, getting straight to the point.

"It was necessary."

"Necessary?! You think it was necessary to leave her alone, with child!" She almost shouted.

"I didn't know about – " Solas tried to interrupt but Leliana cut him off. "You have no idea what she went through, you broke her heart. She hasn't been the same since you left."

"She's strong she always has been." Solas almost shouted, feeling shamed by her words.

"Even the strongest of women get hurt Solas. You can't toy with her the way you did before." The reply was low, she may as well have shouted.
"I did not toy with her before. I loved her. I wouldn't have left if I didn't have to. I didn't know about our child until yesterday."

"Please Solas…just…" Solas held a hand up, "This is between Eamane and myself. It has nothing to do with you."

Leliana opened her mouth then stopped. Perhaps he was right.

"You should know she was more affected by you leaving then she makes out to be. I'll be watching." She warned before pointing to her door.

Solas left and went in search of Eamane. Perhaps now would be a good time to tell her everything.

Eamane finished feeding her daughter and waited for Sera to come to look after her for the day. Everyone took it in turns to watch over her little one. They were all family here. Bull was always the most reluctant to hand Amy back. He really was a big softy where the baby was concerned.

Amethelian had seemed to have wrapped everyone around her little finger as soon as she was born.

Sera came stomping up the stairs, "Heard baldy elf was back." She said looking disapproving.

"Yes, he arrived last night."

When Sera didn't say anything, just stood there tapping her foot, Eamane looked up at her.

"He's a tit, leaving the way he did. It was really really stupid." Eamane nodded and picked up Amy, "look Amy, Aunty Sera is here. She's going to teach you how to shoot arrows when you get older."

Sera's face softened when she saw the baby. Taking the baby and walking towards the stairs, Sera looked back, "Just don't let him into your pants again yeah?" with that parting shot she disappeared down the steps.

Maybe working from her room today would be a good idea. She didn't want any more advice like that and there was no guaranteeing what Dorian was going to say when he found out Solas had come back. And if she was being truthful, she was avoiding Solas as well.

Sighing she sat down behind her desk and started to go through the pile of reports that were waiting for her attention.

Three hours later Eamane rubbed the back of her neck, and got up to walk around a little. She'd been sitting in one place to long, she thought, as she stretched.

When she turned around, a large white wolf was sitting beside her desk.
