Anthesis

When the thorns threatened, he stood in their way.

When the thorns ignored, he fought.

When the thorns struck, her yells went unheeded.

When the thorns won, he fell.

When the man fell, she caught.

When she was unharmed, he caressed.

When the man silenced, the girl wept.

When the girl stood, she agonized.

When she retaliated, the thorns dwindled.

When the thorns lost, she dropped.

When on her knees, a doleful scream ripped her throat.

The man was unable to see the flower bloom.
