Feline Prowess
Alternate Ending: Oh Shi–!

A/N: THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND REVIEWS. :'D So! Yeah. Here's the alternate ending. Hope I did an okay job on it. I'm so sorry if I didn't! And sorry it took so long to post! And sorry this chapter is so short! DX

Takes place the next morning after the ending of chapter 13.

Also, mild spoilers for those who haven't played past chapter 4 in The Evil Within.

When he woke up in the morning, Law found himself in a rather good mood. He whistled a lively tune as he cooked Mugiwara's breakfast, unaware that the little feline was also in a good mood. The cat swished its tail to the little tune as it patiently waited on the surgeon's shoulder. When the meat was done and served, and after Law made his own breakfast, both sat at the kitchen table in a comfortable silence.

Despite the fact that Law was in a good mood, he couldn't help but feel as if something extraordinary would happen later. Something that could quite possibly change his life – for better or worse. It was a feeling he wasn't quite used to having, and one that left him feeling slightly on edge. He didn't like it. He made a mental note not the leave the house for the rest of the day. But then that left the question of: what was he going to do for the entire day? He didn't feel like reading for once, which was quite bizarre, but he blamed that on the fact that he'd been reading more than usual as of late. Maybe he could pop in a game?

The memory of Sachi giving him a belated birthday gift popped into his mind. His friend had bought a game called The Evil Within, a game he hadn't even opened yet. He wasn't a big gamer, he just like to play a video game once in a while, but Sachi insisted on him playing this one. "Trust me, you'll LOVE it. Just remember to play it in the dark with the volume up kind of loud."

Well, he had nothing else to do. And the cover to the game did look rather intriguing…

Getting up from the kitchen table and setting his plate into the sink to wash later, he focused his attention on the black cat staring at him from beside his empty bowl. "Did you enjoy your food, Mugiwara-ya?" The cat nodded its head before giving a wide yawn. The surgeon made his way to the living room where he knelt down by the PS3. He turned it on before reaching for the unopened game, tearing away the plastic with ease before popping the disc into the console. "Hope you don't mind a horror game…?"

The cat actually looked intrigued at the idea and made itself comfortable on the couch. Law focused his attention on the single window in the room. Sachi told him to play in the dark. He reached over and closed the curtains, effectively keeping out the morning sunlight. The room dimmed, but didn't completely darken. It was good enough.

Situating himself on the couch next to Mugiwara, he started up the game.

Law had to admit the game was, indeed, quite good. He certainly liked it better than the two Silent Hill games he had played. He wasn't very far into the game (yet) but it had completely absorbed his focus. He was hooked. He made a mental note to thank Sachi for the present next time he saw the man.

Beside him, he could feel Mugiwara twitch at every growl a Haunted made, or jump whenever something jumped out at Sebastian, the main character of the game. He'd glance down and see the feline flinch and look away at the scenes that were just too gory and detailed. And he most certainly heard Mugiwara's little meows of warning when a Haunted would attempt to come up behind Sebastian.

"Maybe a chainsaw or something…" Sebastian said, and Law couldn't help the smirk that played onto his lips. Oh, he knew what that meant. He made sure he was stocked up on ammunition and that he had enough Bolts for the Agony Crossbow before making his way over to the barn. Loud growls and grunting filled the living room, and beside Law Mugiwara shrunk back into his seat a little. He knew that voice, knew which enemy that was hiding inside the building. The two glanced at each other.

"You ready, Mugiwara-ya?" The feline crawled into the surgeon's lap and then nodded, and Law's smirk strengthened. "Then let's get that chainsaw."

The heart inside Mugiwara's chest was racing as he watched the shrieking creature come out of one of the corpses in the room. Even Law jerked a little at the sudden appearance of the monster. Sebastian instantly turned tail and ran, only to discover that the way he came before was cut off. A door on the left, his salvation. Law quickly maneuvered Sebastian over to it, clicking the X button twice to kick it open.

The door was locked.

"What?" Law moved the camera to see where the shrieking creature was. It was almost upon Sebastian. Law was at a total loss as to what to do. He was on the edge of the couch looking for a way out, and Mugiwara was right there at the edge, too; desperate to know how this all progressed. Suddenly, the door flew open, startling Mugiwara who jumped. The shrieking creature attacked the Haunted that had just opened the door. Law didn't stand around any longer, making Sebastian run through the door.

The main protagonist ran down an old hall and into another room where he quickly turned around and pressed a button; a door came down, cutting off the shrieking creature's only way of getting to Sebastian. Law and Mugiwara let out quiet breaths they hadn't realized they'd been holding. They were safe. That is, until the shrieking creature began to crawl out of one of the bodies behind Sebastian. "Oh crap," Law muttered, running for the ladder on the other side the room. Sebastian began to run again, only to see the door at the other end of the hall begin to close. "Come on, come on, come on…" Behind him, the shrieking creature was catching up. Law inched further towards the end of the couch cushion, his attention solely focused on the television screen before him.

He ducked just in time to miss a trap wire that would have tripped a bomb. The creature was right behind and the door was just about to close and Law inched even further off the cushion this was so damn intense and–

A puff of smoke suddenly erupted from his lap, scaring the absolute shit out of him. He dropped the controller and reeled back away from the smoke, pushing his back into the back of the couch. The weight in his lap from Mugiwara suddenly grew by tenfold, and through the smoke he could see the silhouette of a person against the light emitted from the television screen.

Someone was sitting in his lap.

Law's heart hammered a million times per minute in his chest and his eyes were wide with not only shock but fear as well. His hands were searching for any type of object he could use as a weapon, but all that was within reach was a throw pillow. Which was hardly threatening. If at all.

Then the figure began to move.

Meaning that it wasn't his imagination. This was actually happening. His heart hammered even harder in his chest as he open his mouth, "Holy shi–!"

Raucous laughter filled the air, and Law's mind instantly told him to was far too high to belong to Ruvik. (main antagonist from the game). Then who the fuck…? The smoke began to dissipate and Law's gray eyes landed on a face that belonged to a teenager. The face was slightly rounded, giving it a childish look, that had large innocent looking eyes and a grin that was inhumanly big. A scar rested beneath the teen's left eye. Wild black hair sat atop the male's head while a familiar straw hat rested on his back. "Torao! Y-You should have seen your face! I-It was hilarious!" The teen was holding his stomach as tears leaked from his eyes.

Law's heart began to slow down and he felt that his entire body was numb. His quick breaths calmed and he momentarily closed his eyes to collect himself. When he reopened them, that was when he noticed it.

This teen wasn't wearing any clothes.

He was naked and sitting in Law's lap.

He instantly pushed the male off him and onto the floor. The teen didn't really care, though, as he was still trying to calm down from laughing so hard. "Who the fuck are you?" Law's eyes narrowed and he definitely didn't have the tiniest hint of a blush on his cheeks from that sudden 'naked' surprise.

As the teen caught his breath, he pushed himself into a sitting position; either totally uncaring that he was naked or hadn't realized it yet. Instead, he smiled brightly at the surgeon. Law swore he knew that smile, and that scar too, but– "The name's Luffy." The smile grew even more. "But I guess you could also call me Mugiwara!"

Mugiwara…

His eyes fell on the scar under the male's eye, then to the straw hat resting on the teen's back, then to the mop of black hair on his head, and finally to the stitched up wound on his forearm. Slowly, realization began to dawn on Law. This male, this teen was really…Mugiwara…

He couldn't wrap his mind around that fact, but the evidence was slapping him in the face. Mugiwara was not a cat, Mugiwara was a human named Luffy.

What the fuck?

"Huh? Torao? You alright? …Helloooo?" Luffy waved his hand in front of the surgeon's confused face before the older male snapped out of his thoughts, slapping the hand away. "You were spacing ou–" Law threw one of the pillows at his face.

"Put some damn clothes on!"

Law rubbed his temple in frustration, his brows furrowed a scowl on his features. Before him sitting at the other end of the table sat Mugi– Luffy, eating some meat that Law cooked at the teen's (repeated) request. "So let me get this straight. You were walking down the street when you saw a woman with a lot of groceries in her arms–"

"Yep."

"And you went over to help her–"

"Uh-huh."

"But she started screaming–"

"Mhmm."

"And then suddenly you were a cat."

Luffy smiled. "That's right!"

Law let out another sigh. In the past hour, he only managed to discover that Luffy had been cursed by a witch (for no apparent reason), was nineteen years old, had two brothers (Ace and Sabo), and wanted to kiss Law. Badly. Because he kept asking for a kiss. To which Law repeatedly declined. He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that Luffy was actually human, he had no intention of kissing the teen yet, no matter how cute he looked at times.

Law discovered, though, that he felt himself naturally relaxing in the male's presence, and he couldn't help but stare into those familiar brown orbs. Luffy seemed content to stare into his eyes as well, and for a few minutes that's all they did; stare into each others eyes in the silence. Law still felt that happiness inside himself, the same happiness he felt with Mugiwara around. He honestly fell for that little ball of fur.

And he had a feeling he'd fall in love with Luffy too.

After all, they were the same person.

He didn't think it was possible that one day he'd find love. He was always so focused on his work and a part of him never wanted to let someone else back into his life that he'd hold so dearly. Because the last people he had loved had died. His family and guardian. But this time, he wouldn't let anything happen to Luffy. He'd be there for the male in his time of need, he'd take care of him and keep him safe. He was not going to lose another important person in his life.

"Shouldn't you be getting home? Your brothers are probably worried about you."

"Yeah, I probably should. But I want to spend a little bit more time with you! Can I, please?" Before Law could say anything, a large yawn overcame Luffy, and the surgeon could see just how tired the teen was. He gave a sigh, knowing he couldn't let the male leave in such a state.

"Fine. I'm going back to playing that game."

"Okay, I'll join you!" As Law settled himself on the couch, Luffy wasted no time in plopping down and resting his head in the surgeon's lap. The action had Law blushing momentarily, as he wasn't used to such acts of affection, but eventually calmed down. Luffy blinked at the sight, a small smile creeping up on his face. "Aw, are you blushing? You look cute when you bl–" Law shoved one of the throw pillows in Luffy's face, practically smothering the teen. The younger male struggled against the pillow, taking in a gasp of hair when he wrestled the pillow away from his face. "Hey, are you trying to kill me?!"

"What if I am?" The question held no emotion whatsoever.

Luffy huffed, crossing his arms as he gave a small pout. "Meanie." The face was cute, Law had to admit. He gave a small chuckle, his hand absentmindedly going to the teen's head and running his fingers through the wild black hair. It was soft, and it reminded him of how soft Mugiwara's fur had been.

"Ne, Torao?"

"Yes, Luffy-ya?"

Luffy smiled brightly, the softest blush tinging his cheeks as he stared up at the surgeon in the dark room. "I love you."

Law couldn't help but stare at the male's face. Luffy was the one who stole his heart. The one who forever keep it. Law gave a soft smile and leaned down, planting a gentle kiss on the teen's forehead. "I love you too," he whispered.

He lost Luffy once before.

There was no way in hell he'd let the teen slip away once again.

A/N: SORRY THIS CHAPTER ISN'T THE BEST. I kinda stole the ending of chapter 16 and threw it together in here. I had writer's block for this too, all I knew was that at some point Mugiwara would turn into Luffy while sitting in Law's lap, and Law would yell, "Holy shi–!" So I threw in The Evil Within to make sure that it scared Law enough to say that.

I LOVE THAT GAME SO MUCH. I've wasted the last week of my life playing that game since I got sick. I think I'm going to upload a The Evil Within story, probably a humor one, within a few days. Also probably gonna write a one-shot on a OP crossover with it. It'll most likely have Law, Luffy, and Ace. And be humor, too. XD Don't know if any of you guys played that game, but I highly recommend you play it. :D

Anyway, I'll be uploading the specials next! Hope you guys stay tuned for those! ^^
