A/N: Hello to my regular readers! I'm writing this story as a quick change of pace from my other story. I'm not abandoning it! Anyway, the general Idea is how the Personas of the Investigation Team in Persona 4 spend their downtime, when they're not fighting with their users. I adopted the Idea from NefasSegador and his story 'From Persona eyes', and it'll be mainly around the main Personas and not Yu's Wild Card Personas, but they might pop up occasionally.
Also, I'm using the animated series as reference, because I haven't played enough of the game to use that, but I know enough of it make a few references, like each of the Investigation Teams weapons.
Just a side note, I may refer to the Personas as people. When I say that something is big enough for 4 people, I'm referring to more human-like Personas like Izanagi, Jiraiya, Tomoe and Konohana.
Just after Yosuke is saved from his shadow and gets his Persona:
Izanagi was sitting, reading a book in the Lobby-like room he found himself in whenever Yu hadn't summoned him for battle when the frosted glass double doors at the entrance swung open and someone stepped out of the black and red swirls behind them. Izanagi raised an eyebrow (or at least he would have, if he them) as he looked at the newcomer. There was only one way he could describe him: a Disco Ninja Frog. The frog-ninja spotted him and walked over to the armchair Izanagi was sat in, lightly tossing the two oversized gold shurikens on the coffee table next to Izanagi's spear-like Naginata. He put the book down and stood up.
"Yo, call me Jiraiya. I'm Yosuke's Persona." The frog-ninja said, holding out his camouflage-patterned hand.
"Izanagi." The Fool persona replied, shaking his outstretched hand.
"So, where are we?"
"Oh, this place? Welcome to Hotel Persona, or at least that's what I call it. This is where You, I and any other Personas that join us will be spending the time we're not out fighting. I'll show you around." Izanagi said as he walked over to the entrance door, Jiraiya following.
"This is where you came in, but when you're called out by your user you don't need to leave through this door, you sort of just teleport into blue flames." He explained, while pointing with his arm. He turned around and swept his arm across the room.
"This is the lounge, the bedrooms are down the corridor on the left and there's a hot-tub and swimming pool to the right." Izanagi explained and gestured with his arm as Jiraiya followed with his eyes. The lobby/lounge looked comfortable enough, with two large couches big enough for three people (?) and a separate armchair around an expensive looking coffee table in the far left corner, a large 5-man hot tub in the opposite far-right corner, next to a collapsible wall with a full-size pool behind it. The corridor with the bedrooms was very wide, by at least 4 people, but Jiraiya could only see one door. Confused, he asked about it.
"Hey, Partner…"
Izanagi would have raised an eyebrow if he had them, but instead showed his slight confusion in his question. "Partner?"
The ninja frog just shrugged. "Well, there's only the two of us, and we work together, so that makes us partners. That, and our users are partners as well."
"Hm. I can see the logic behind it. Very well, we're partners. Besides that, what was your question?"
"Oh, right. Why is there only one door? I know we're partners an' all, but I'm not bunking with you."
Izanagi didn't respond for a moment, rolling his glowing yellow eyes. "Your room is materialised from your own personal preferences, so you need to project these onto a blank part of the wall, and your door will appear."
Jiraiya nodded and went over to the only door on the wall. It looked fairly plain, apart from the name plaque. It was silver, with an electric blue edging. Izanagi was engraved in elegant yet rugged script, like you'd expect from a warrior/Shinto god, along with an engraving of a Katana, the weapon Yu uses in the TV world. The frog-ninja looked at the blank wall opposite Izanagi's door and, with a nod from said Shinto god, put his hand on the wall. Sure enough, after concentrating enough, a rectangle of blue flames burst from the wall, before the hard wood of his door appeared in the flames and they dissipated. The door looked pretty much the same as Izanagi's except the silver plaque was lined with a neon-green colour, and was engraved with Jiraiya in a less elegant font, with a pair of Kunai daggers in place of the Katana. A Silver key engraved with the numeral of 1, the same as his arcana's number appeared in his hand, and his looked over to see Izanagi hold up his own key, engraved with a 0.
"Now that your room is ready, you can do with it whatever you like. The key you just received isn't essential, as you can simply manifest another if you lose it, but you might still want to lock up, just in case we get some… overly curious guests." Jiraiya nodded his understanding when he spotted another door at the end of the hallway, in the middle instead of on the sides.
"Say, what's that? The door at end." He pointed out with his hand. Izanagi followed with this head, before spotting the door.
"That would be the 'Wild Card Club'. It's much the same as a nightclub and hotel for the other Personas that Yu can summon. I believe you've already met one. He's a lantern-carrying jack-o-lantern called Pyro Jack." At the mention of his name, said jack-o-lantern poked his head around the door and waved with his white hand.
Jiraiya nodded. "So, what do we do for fun around here?"
Izanagi looked back at him, and slowly swept his hand from left to right. "Anything you want. You're welcome to use any of the facilities here, and your own room should be more than enough to fill your needs. I'll be retiring for the evening, but feel free to make yourself at home." With that, he turned and retrieved his book and his Naginata from the coffee table in the lounge before he let himself into his room, closing the door with a soft click. Jiraiya, now standing alone, decided to do the same, grabbing his shurikens from the table and going inside his bedroom, which was (without going into specifics, because we all know what Yosuke's thinking) exactly what he wanted.
At the same time, Izanagi was resting on his bed, thinking about this new arrival. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he knew this quiet hotel was going to be getting quite a bit livelier soon.
