I recently began watching Grey's Anatomy and I fell in love with it, the characters and the story; my favorite couples are the ones with the Grey sisters, that is, MerDer and McSlexie so I began to consider writing a one-shot series (similar to my Hawaii Five 0 series) and I decided upon a very simple concept: what if Meredith and Lexie had known each other since childhood? And what if Lexie lived with her sister while she attended medical school in Seattle, therefore meeting Mark Sloan at an earlier point?
I claim no ownership of this show, I only have my "dark and twisted" imagination that came up with this series.
Well, this certainly isn't awkward at all…
Lexie Grey thought as she took in the scene before her with wide eyes; her older sister, Meredith, stood in the foyer with only a blanket covering her while a tall, rather handsome dark-haired man with stunning blue eyes had a pillow covering his bottom half.
"Lexie! I didn't, uh, expect you to be up this early…"
"Well, I stayed up all night studying so…are you going to introduce me?"
Lexie wondered, smirking as she turned to her sister's guest; the man grinned as he held out his hand for Lexie to shake.
"Derek, and you are…?"
"This is my little sister Lexie…well, half-sister but she's my sister all the same."
Meredith replied, shaking her head at the absurdity of it all; how often does one introduce their one-night stand to their sister?
"Look, I'm going to go take a shower because I'm late; when I get come back down, I need you to be gone ok?"
Meredith stated, tossing Derek's clothes at him before rushing up the stairs; Lexie looked over her shoulder at her sister, her eyes slowly wandering back to Derek who had already pulled up his pants and was now buttoning up his shirt.
"Is your sister always like that?"
"You mean rambling and always moving at a hundred miles a minute? Yeah, pretty much."
Lexie replied, her lips twitching as she watched Derek leave; she turned around to see her sister hurrying down the stairs, Meredith glared at her sister.
"Don't even say it Lex."
"What? Should I not comment on the fact you brought home an incredibly sexy man and—you know what, I hope you got his number because…"
Lexie trailed off, smirking at the death glare her sister was sending her.
"I've got to go, good luck on your exams not that you'll need it!"
"Love you too Mer!"
Lexie called as the door slammed shut behind her sister; she sighed softly, shaking her head before walking back upstairs to get ready.
"So, you have two younger half-sisters?"
Christina Yang asked as she sat down across from Meredith; Meredith nodded, looking around at her fellow interns.
"We have the same father, but their mother is my step-mother; I spent every summer and the holidays with them."
Meredith replied as she took a bite of her lunch, ignoring the curious stares; given the fact her mother worked long hours Meredith would just get shipped off to stay with her father and his family, which was a good thing because it gave her a chance to experience a real family.
"Are any of them interested in being a surgeon?"
Isobel "Izzie" Stevens wondered, smacking the hand of Alex Karev who was trying to take her food; Meredith smiled.
"Yes actually, Lexie's currently in medical school and should be applying for internships in two years; she skipped third grade and has always been intelligent, having a photographic memory and all."
Meredith explained, feeling a smile cross her lips when she saw the stunned expressions on the other interns' face.
"So is your sister hot or—?"
"Alex!"
George O'Malley exclaimed, his voice sounding high-pitched; Alex laughed before a smirk crossed his lips.
"Dr. Karev, I'm only going to give you warning: in the event you meet Lexie you are not to flirt with her or try and seduce her; do I make myself clear?"
"Yes Ma'am!"
Alex replied, still smirking despite the glare Meredith was shooting him; Meredith's pager suddenly went off.
"I've got to run, I have to go see a Dr. Shepherd about Katy Price."
Meredith stated, sitting up quickly before dashing off.
"So Derek is in fact Derek Shepherd, a well-known neurosurgeon and also happens to be one of your attendings?"
"Pretty much."
Meredith replied, letting out a loud groan as her head slammed down on the counter top; Lexie let out a small chuckle, moving to pour her sister a glass of wine.
"He actually asked me out! I mean really, it was a one-night thing and he's my attending for crying out loud!"
"Oh yes, god forbid a handsome, rich man asks you out!"
Lexie commented teasingly, smirking as her older sister looked up to glare at her; Meredith quickly downed her drink before slamming the glass on the table.
"Hey, did the nursing home call today?"
"Once, but I was in the shower so they left a message…your mother's still lucid, at least for now."
Lexie replied, the mood in the room suddenly turning serious; Meredith sighed, tapping her fingers as she stared at the empty glass.
"You know, she didn't even remember I was her daughter; she still thinks she's a surgeon, and that she and Dad are still together."
Meredith admitted, blue eyes meeting brown; Lexie gave her sister a sympathetic look, while the brunette wasn't exactly a big fan of Ellis Grey she knew Meredith still cared for her.
"I ordered Chinese food, it should be here soon."
"Did you get the ginger beef with—"
"Crispy wontons? You bet."
The two Grey sisters laughed, smiling at each other as the doorbell rang; Lexie moved to answer the door as Meredith poured herself another drink, drinking it quickly.
"Hey, you better save me some spring rolls Lex!"
"You answer the door, you get the rolls Mer!"
Laughter was heard as Meredith quickly got up and ran to grab the spring rolls from her sister, squeals and giggles filling the house.
I left a lot out, but I really wanted to focus on Meredith and Lexie as well as introduce Meredith's fellow interns and Derek.
