New Vulcan

October 1, 2264

11 light years from Earth

Spock stared at the grave, it had been a simple proceeding only a few crew members had attended the funeral he had been notified as soon as he returned from that five year mission. His alternate counterpart had died in his sleep three days ago, his assistant had found him when he didn't answer his calls.

''You alright?'' asked James T. Kirk, his closest friend never more so than now.

''Yes.'' he answered. Spock had many conflicting emotions raging inside him of him.

''It was a good service.'' Kirk said solemnly.

''It was.'' Spock agreed.

Kirk could only pat his friend's shoulder in comfort and left to join the rest of the crew at a local Inn. Spock was left alone standing at the hill facing a snowy mountain his wife Uhura looking from afar but deciding he needed to grieve in his own way. This new colony was different from the original Vulcan it had varied climates with only two small deserts in the eastern and southern continents, it orbited a K-type main-sequence star, it was only a billion years younger but with a similar gravity to the original planet.

Holding up the Vulcan salute, his voice started to crack.

''Live Long and...prosper.'' he let out in a shaky breath.

Spock opened his eyes blinking as the sun shined above, the hybrid only looked around to see he was at the shore of a lake. He looked down at his clothes and saw that he was in his old uniform from his days at the Enterprise. He was confused he remembered closing his eyes a few nights and...his sharp Vulcan mind calculated all the possibilities.

''Morning Spock,'' said a familiar voice. Spock climbed to his feet and saw Jim as healthy and spry as he was all those years ago.

''Jim, you're...dead.'' Spock spoke in a shaky voice. The Enterprise-B succumbed to the Nexus' gravimetric field. Declining Harriman's offer to take command, Kirk volunteered to modify the ship's deflector relays and successfully enabled the ship's escape, but not before a burst of energy from the Nexus breached the secondary hull. Kirk was lost and presumed dead.

''Yeah and no this place it's difficult to understand seems to be another plane of existence I'm more than happy to explain everything to you!'' he exclaimed with a cheeky grin. He extended a hand to his good friend after many years.

''Wanna go on a mission?'' he smiled.

''Always ready.'' Spock took his hand and Kirk put his arm around the half human's shoulders explaining everything.

THE END
