Ever since Dipper's awesome summer in Gravity Falls, his life hadn't panned out the way he wanted. He had graduated college at the University of Seattle, but he had not been able to find a secure job, and had to take a job as a bartender at the local pub. He was already twenty-two, and he had never even had a girlfriend. He didn't even really have any friends here. Some days he didn't even want to get out of bed. But he did, and the everyday drudgery of working the bar, going home, watching some TV, sleeping, and repeating became automatic. Until one fateful day.

Dipper refilled a customer's beer, when he noticed a young woman sit down at the bar. Something about her seemed familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

"What can I get for you, miss?" Dipper asked.

"Anything. Just keep filling me up." the woman said, throwing a wad of twenties at Dipper.

"Ah, that's a bit much." Dipper said.

"Keep the change." the woman said.

"Uh, thanks. Is there something wrong?" Dipper asked.

"None of your business." the woman replied.

"Well, I am a bartender. I'm kind of supposed to help people with their problems." Dipper said.

"You wouldn't understand." the woman replied.

"Try me." Dipper said.

"Fine. My parents are forcing me into this stupid job that I don't want to do."

"You're a grown woman, why can't you just say no?" Dipper asked.

"Ever since I was a little girl, my parents always made me do things. They made me act a certain way, because we were rich, and they didn't want me ruining their image. And I was never able to stand up to them." the woman said.

"Well, you know what? I think you should just say no. Just because they're your parents doesn't mean you have listen to them. After all, you're old enough to drink. So you should be old enough to make decisions on their own." Dipper said.

The woman was staring at Dipper's name tag.

"Oh..my..god. Are you Dipper Pines?" the woman asked.

"Uh, yeah. How did you...oh my god, you're Pacifica Northwest!" Dipper said, suddenly remembering where he'd seen the face before.

"Right. You are Mabel's brother. How have you been?" Pacifica asked.

"Frankly, not great. I'm twenty-two, I work at a bar, and I've never had a girlfriend." Dipper said.

"I find that hard to believe. You're so cute!" Pacifica said.

"Really? You think I'm cute? I always thought you'd be into some rich prince from Monaco." Dipper said.

"Please. They are the last guys I'd like to date. My parents always force me to go on dates with guys like that." Pacifica said.

"Hmm..wow. I guess I misjudged you. I always just thought of you as exactly like your parents, but you're actually a lot better than them." Dipper said.

"Thanks." Pacifica said.

"You know, it's been nice talking to you. Want to.. Grab dinner sometime?" Dipper asked.

Pacifica smiled. "I'd love that."

"Okay, let's say, 6:00 tomorrow? Name the restaurant." Dipper said.

"That sounds good. How about Pizza Hut?" Pacifica suggested.

"Pizza Hut?" Dipper asked, surprised.

"Yeah. I've gone to way too many fancy restaurants, and I just want to go somewhere like Pizza Hut." Pacifica said.

"Okay. See you then!" Dipper said.

Dipper couldn't believe he had actually just picked up a girl. And Pacifica Northwest, no less! He at first decided to keep it a secret from Mabel, but something in the back of his mind told him to tell her.

"Hey, Mabel?" Dipper said on the phone.

"Bro, what's up? I haven't seen you in forever!" Mabel answered.

"Listen, I have some crazy news. I..I have a date with Pacifica Northwest." Dipper said.

Mabel paused for a moment. "Wow. Has she gotten better? Because last time we saw her, she was a jerk."

"Actually, she really has. She's really mature and nice, now." Dipper said.

"Well, I'm happy for you!" Mabel said.

"Thanks, sis!" Dipper said.

Dipper went to bed with a smile on his face. If only he could have connected with Pacifica earlier.
