Sleeping With The Ally
Chapter 32: Meet the new Winchester.
An intense pain shot through Mia's stomach, starting at her hips working it's way up her ribs. She knew where the pain was coming from, it was her muscles contracting, pushing her baby into position. She groaned from the uncomfortable pain and shifted in an attempt to ease things. "Is he here yet?" Mia asked Bobby who stood uncomfortably at the head of her bed.
"Nope." Bobby told her wishing that he could help her in some way.
"Damn." she cursed as the contraction eased up and she shifted again. "I swear it feels like someone is stabbing me in my hips with a hot knife." she said not looking at Bobby. "Everything I read said that the pain would be in my stomach and back." she added. She had been having consistent contractions for that past eight hours. She hadn't gotten much sleep and she wasn't allowed to have anything to eat.
"Last time I called they were an hour away." Bobby told her. The last time he had called had been thirty minutes ago. Mia groaned and gripped the bed sheet with both hands as another contraction hit. "They're getting closer." Bobby announced, but Mia ignored him as the pain worked it's way up her abdomen and lingered for about a minute before it started to ease up and Mia relaxed with it. "And that one lasted longer."
"He better make it or I'm gonna rip his lungs out." she mumbled. Bobby knew she didn't mean it. She was tired and aggravated. She had been snapping at everyone.
As the minutes ticked by the contractions got closer and lasted longer and longer. The longer they lasted the more ticked off and short fused Mia got. Nurses came once in a while to see how much she had dialated. According to them it was going to be a long night. That was until it sudden'y felt as if her body was telling her it was time to push. "Bobby get a nurse." she snipped out through the pain. "It's time."
"But they said-"
"I don't care what they said I know what my body is telling me." she practically yelled and Bobby left to get a nurse.
Alone in the room Mia sighed and let her head fall backward. Outwardly she was just a normal, tired, aggravated woman in labor. Inside she was screaming, cursing Dean with every dirty word she could think of. Where was he? Why wasn't he here? He's going to miss the birth of his child. These thoughts were laced with curses.
Soon a nurse walked in and lifted the sheet to examine her. "Your about to have your baby." she announced and Mia's head shot up.
"What? You said it was going to be a long night." Mia practically yelled.
"Well this baby says otherwise." she said as she put down the sheet. "I'll page the doctor."
Mia slammed her head back into the bed, her teeth clenched not just because of the pain, but out of anger. "Dean's going to miss it. I should've known better." she didn't bother to wipe the tears that slipped down her cheeks.
"He'll be here." Bobby assured her.
She just looked down at her hospital socked feet. "I stopped believing that three hours ago."
At that moment a doctor wearing a mask and scrubs walked into the room and introduced himself. "Hello, Maria, I'm Doctor Hawkins. You ready to meat your baby?" he aksed and Mia just stared at him, half pissed half in shock that this was really happening.
She was suddenly putty in their hands as the foot of the bed was dropped, she was slid down in the bed and her feet were placed in metal stirrups at each corner of the bed. With how she was positioned sitting straight up in the bed with her feet in the stirrups, her knees were practically touching her chest. "It's time to push, you ready?" the nurse assisting the doctor asked and Mia just nodded. "On the count of thee okay, one, two, three."
On three Mia pushed as hard as she could. It felt like she pushed for forever before the nurse told her to take a breather. She took advantage of the few seconds she had before she had to push again by resting her head back onto the pillow that was behind her head. "One, two-" the nurse counted.
"Mia!" she heard Dean's voice and for a split second she wondered if she was hearing things, but as soon as her eyes landed on Dean as he emerged in the door and rushed over to her, she realized he had made it in the nick of time. "I'm so sorry, Mia."
"Your hear now." Mia sighed reaching up to stroke his cheek and he grabbed her hand.
"Ahem" the doctor cleared his throat. "Push." he instructed and Mia obeyed.
Five pushes later, a beautiful little boy was born, weighed, monitored, wrapped in a blanket and placed on Mia's chest. "Where's Sam and I'm starving." Mia said now that she could form complete sentences.
"He's out in the waiting room." Dean answered her question.
"Would you like to try to breast feed?" a nurse asked and Mia nodded then looked to Bobby who she had forgotten was even in the room.
"I'll go get you somethin' to eat. What do ya want?" he asked as he headed for the door, not wanting to be present for a breastfeeding session.
"A double cheeseburger and fries, I don't care where from and all the toppings please." she answered and he nodded then left the room.
The baby sat in the hospital bassinet sleeping soundly while Mia ate her left over fries. "I was so afraid you weren't going to make it." Mia whispered not wanting to wake the baby.
"I know. There was a bad wreck and we couldn't get around it. I'm so sorry I left you hanging for so long." he replied.
"You made it. That's all that matters." she reassured him then turned her head to look at Sam where he sat on the uncomfortable bench in the room staring at his nephew. "So, Sam, how does it feel to be an uncle?"
"Still trying to figure that out." he answered with a laugh.
"So," Mia said as she looked at Dean again, "What's this little boy's name?"
"Colt Landon John Winchester." Dean answered remembering they're conversation about names. Mia liked Landon. Dean liked Colt. So they decided that two middle names was they way to go. Mia wrinkled her nose and shook her head. "But I thought that's what we agreed on." Dean looked confused.
Mia smiled at him. "Colt John Winchester. No Landon." Dean smiled from ear to ear. "Colt grew on me." she admitted with a shrug.
A small squeak sounded from the baby alerting everyone in the room that he was awake. Dean walked around the bed to where the tiny boy laid in the bassinet next to Mia's bed and picked him up. "Hi, Colt." he smiled at his son as he brought him to his torso and gently hugged him. "Shush...daddy's got ya." he whispered and she swayed from side to side. Mia smiled before a yawn took over. "Get some sleep. We've got him." Dean told her and she turned onto her side and closed her eyes. Sleep took over as soon as her eyelids met.
A/N: Sorry this is so short, but I figured this itself should have it's own chapter. I also don't know how I want this to progress. I have two different plans in mind. I can't choose so I'm asking for ya'll's help in deciding. So vote one or two.
Option 1: This one has a time skip that will land the readers in season 7.
Option 2: This one has a time skip that could possibly land somewhere around season 8 or 9.
A/A/N: I'm also sorry I haven't written in so long. I had my beautiful baby girl in January and have since been fighting postpartum depression along with helping out with my mother whose cancer has reared it's ugly head again. It was under control, no longer spreading for a few years, but the chemo pill she was taking stopped working and the cancer spread to her lungs. She is now on oxygen 24/7, can't walk more than a few feet at a time and such. So now I'm taking care of her, her house, my house, my baby, our three pets and making sure I have dinner cooked for two different households. My plate is full, but I will try my best to write when I can.
