This is my one-shot for Valentine's day Nezushi. I haven't posted anything in a long time, so I wrote this as a gift for my valentine this year. I don't own No.6. Please enjoy!
"Nezumi?" a soft voice called through the dim library. It was answered by an affirming "hmm?" as the boy in question refused to pull his nose from a large book.
A pale face popped out from around the corner of a towering bookshelf. "Why's this book hidden from all the others? It's Shakespeare too, isn't it?" he held up a thin, dusty volume.
Nezumi sneered. "It's Romeo and Juliet. I don't want that around my other books. It might soil them."
Shion looked confused. "What's wrong with it?"
"Besides being a completely poignant disregard for human life for the sheer pursuit of "love"?"
"Yes."
"Nothing. I just don't like it."
Shion thought for a moment. "But I think you'd make a good Juliet."
Nezumi looked taken aback before swooping in front of him. "Oh? And do you fancy yourself a proper Romeo?" Shion blushed.
"No, but-"
"You've yet to seduce this maiden yet! I'm much too delicate a flower for your tainted hands."
"My hands aren't tainted."
"I think I'd be stained just from looking at them!" Despite his words, Nezumi clasped Shion's fingers in his own. "Don't you have somewhere to be besides rifling through romantic garbage?"
Realization flashed across his face. "That's right, I'm supposed to go to Inukashi's today. I should be back before dark, okay?"
Nezumi released him before sprawling across the couch. A book he'd been reading before came back to his hands. "Take your time. See you tonight."
Shion grabbed his coat off the back of the chair and scurried out the door into the February air, while Nezumi nonchalantly pulled his jacket on and slipped out of the house a short time after. He had some errands to run before Shion figured out what day it was.
"Nezumi, I'm back," Shion peeked in the door and was greeted by the scent of bread. A cork popped, and he saw Nezumi pouring two glasses of red wine. "What's all this?"
"I pulled in a favour or two," he explained nonchalantly, as if mentioning the weather. "You seemed so wrapped up in romance novels this morning I figured you were hinting at me to remember what day it is."
Shion's face looked puzzled. "What day is it?"
Without answering, he pushed Shion down onto the bed, which groaned under the weight of them both.
"Nezumi, what are you-" he was cut off by Nezumi's lips pressed firmly against his own. Violet eyes widened like saucers before falling shut, and Nezumi slipped his tongue into his mouth, stealing Shion's breath. He moaned into the kiss before Nezumi broke away, leaving a dazed Shion in his wake.
"Well, well, my little Romeo can't even handle a simple kiss?" Nezumi smirked, darting his tongue across Shion's bottom lip. The blush across his cheeks spread, the snake-like scar almost blending in with his face. "Tell me again which one of us is Juliet."
Shion scowled, coughing slightly and backing away from the proximity. "You'd still make a prettier girl."
Nezumi laughed, a rare sound that Shion loved. "When you can wine and dine me into dating you, I'll become Juliet. Until then, enjoy what I've set up."
Shion glanced around, confused, but sat down in front of the food nonetheless. The sip of wine he took was sweet, and he stared at Nezumi as he sat down across from him. "Why did you do all of this for me today? You never even told me what day it is!"
Without warning, Nezumi leaned across the table to kiss Shion's cheek. "Happy Valentine's Day, Shion."
