Clarke finds Lexa sitting with Raven, Octavia, and surprisingly, Lincoln, outside her tent. None of them was talking, but the tension that usually filled the air was no longer present. The blonde assumes that the Commander and the former Trikru warrior have come to an understanding, and makes her presence known by clearing her throat.

Four pairs of eyes look up at her, but she only meets the green ones that belonged to Lexa.

"Can we talk?" She asks the brunette, who simply nods in acknowledgement before following her to the tent.

She vaguely hears Lincoln ushering Raven and Octavia out of hearing distance as she makes herself comfortable on her own bed. Lexa opts to sit on Octavia's, quickly getting comfortable as well.

"I'm sorry-" They both say at the same time. Clarke doesn't hide the small smile that paints her face before motioning for Lexa to speak first.

"I'm sorry." Lexa tries again. "I'm not trying to abandon you, Clarke. I just..."

"I know." Clarke replies. "I understand. Your people need you."

Lexa doesn't say anything, and Clarke takes this chance to continue talking.

"So, you're leaving?" Clarke asks.

Lexa nods, and surprises herself with the words that come out of her mouth next.

"Come with me to Polis." She says in one breath. "It doesn't have to be for good. Stay there for a while. At least, until we're sure nobody wants you dead."

Clarke is almost tempted by Lexa's offer. Almost.

"Do you really think that's wise? What would your people say?"

"I am Heda. No one will dare to question my decisions." Lexa says unconvincingly.

"I understand why you have to go, Lexa. And I apologize if I made you feel like I wanted to you to choose me instead of your people. Their needs are more important than my own. Like you said, you're Heda. They are your priority, and I get that. I know that, and I understand that. Please don't make this any harder on yourself."

"If I could choose you, I would." Lexa answers quietly.

Instead of saying anything else, Clarke stands up from her bed and moves to sit beside Lexa. Carefully, the blonde takes the brunette's left hand into her right, and intertwines their fingers. Clarke rests her head on Lexa's shoulders, before speaking again.

"I'll be alright. Maybe it's time I fought my demons on my own."

Neither Clarke, nor Lexa, said those words out loud, but to the both of them, it was heard loud and clear. I love you.

Lexa finds the strength to say goodbye moments later. She kisses the blonde's hair, before letting go of the hand that was intertwined in her own. Clarke raises her head to look at the brunette, and feels her throat constrict as she realizes why Lexa let go.

The two remain in complete silence as Lexa puts on the armor that sat on the foot of Clarke's bed.

After putting on the last piece of her armor, Lexa moves toward Clarke, who also takes a step towards Lexa.

When she was close enough, Lexa leans towards Clarke, and brushes her lips against the blonde's.

"May we meet again." She whispers, before pulling away, and giving Clarke a sad, but hopeful smile.

"We will." Clarke says before wrapping her arms around Lexa. "Take care of yourself."

"You too."

Later, after seeing Lexa and her guards off, Clarke takes the opportunity to slip out of the camp without anyone noticing. Pulling her jacket's hood over her head, Clarke takes the direction opposite of TonDC and Polis, and walks quickly, hoping to cover a lot of ground before sundown.

I'm sorry. You're all better off without me.

Clarke wanders the forest without any real plan in mind. All she knew was that she had to get away from camp. She had to keep her people safe, and leaving them was the best way to do that.

About half a day's walk from camp, Clarke chances upon a group of her people setting up temporary camp. She stops beside a tree that's close enough for her to see them, but not for them to see her. Bellamy!

She quickly searches for her co-leader, but does not find him anywhere. She waits around for a bit, before finally deciding to turn around and leave before someone sees her.

Clarke doesn't make it far before spotting an oddly familiar figure, perched on top of a giant rock. Carefully, she walks towards it, and lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding upon seeing that it was indeed Bellamy seated on that rock.

Bellamy lets out a tired sigh as he sits on a giant rock just a few minutes away from the temporary camp he and the rest of the search team have set up. This wasn't as easy as he thought it was going to be.

Finding the others, if there were any left, is his main priority. He reminds himself that for now, Clarke's wellbeing should be the last thing on his mind.

She has Lexa for that. He tells himself for the third time in the last hour.

I'm tired of being the next best thing.

Bellamy tried to focus on the task at hand, but his mind kept on going back to the stubborn blonde he's desperately in love with.

Am I even the next best thing to begin with?

He scolds himself for thinking of Clarke again. Stop thinking about her!

Bellamy sighs as he realizes that his hopes of carrying out Kane's plans without being reminded of Clarke was almost impossible.

"Bellamy." He froze.

Great. Now you're hearing her voice. Idiot.

"Bellamy." The voice says again. He turns around and barely keeps himself upright at the sight before him.

Clarke was there, her beautiful blonde hair covered by a hood.

He doesn't say anything as he watches her come closer to him.

She looked tired. Aside from the obvious sign that she was lacking sleep, her eyes were clouded by something he couldn't identify exactly. He knew one thing for sure, though. She still looked beautiful.

"Clarke? What are you doing here?" How can I get over her when the universe is constantly finding ways for me to see her like this?

"You left. You left without saying goodbye."

"I didn't think you'd notice. You only need Lexa, remember?" Bellamy hated treating her like this, but he had to learn how to live without her. She wasn't his Princess, after all. She never was.

"This was stupid. I'm sorry. I'll just go"

"Why are you here, Clarke?"

"I just..." Clarke puts her hood down with a look of sorrow and strength. "Grounders might want to kill me. Apparently I'm too powerful for having killed so many people."

"Clarke-" She cuts him off.

"No Bellamy. Let me just get this out please." He nods to her.

"I don't like relying on other people to keep me safe. I hate knowing that people are walking on eggshells around me, just because of my actions. I hate the fact that I had to kill so many people just to keep my loved ones safe. I don't like it when people look at me like I'm so broken. I'm not broken, Bellamy." She sighs.

"Okay. maybe I am. But that's something I have to deal with on my own. I don't want you, Raven, Octavia, or my mother looking at me like I'm an invalid. I just needed you to let me get myself back. I needed Lexa because she understood. I needed Lexa because she was the only one who tried to make me feel like I was still the same person. But that doesn't mean that I don't need you, or Raven, or my mom." She starts pacing.

"Lexa brought me back because she fears that I might be in danger from other clans. I want to hate her and tell her that we wouldn't be in this mess if she hadn't turned her back on us at the mountain, but I can't. I can't because part of me thinks that I would have done the same thing. I would have tried saving everyone, but I would have taken the deal too, if that was what I had to do to save our people."

"Clar-"

"Let me finish."

"I hate that you think you don't compare to Lexa. You don't, but not because you're any less than her. You've gone through different things, you've lived different lives. You're not her, and she's not you. I need her, but I need you, too. Just in a different way."

She clears her throat, letting him know that she finally got to let out everything that she's been keeping to herself.

This is it. Bellamy now knows why the universe just sent her to him now. He jumps down from the rock and walks closer to Clarke.

"You know that you can always have me, Princess. You've had me since we came down from the Ark."

"Bell-"

"This time, please let me get this out."Clarke bit her lip. It took a lot of Bellamy's will power not to kiss her.

"Clarke." Bellamy looked at her with such intensity that Clarke had to hold her breath. "I love you. I always have. I probably always will." He started to hold her hands as he juggled for the right words to say.

"We have been through a lot since we landed on the ground. You understand me more than anyone, heck, even more than Octavia. I can't imagine being here on Earth without you by my side. You keep me sane. I would do almost anything for you because you've always been more than just a co-leader to me, Princess."

Bellamy look into Clarke's eyes and he feels her hands tense in his own, and he sighs.

"I'm sorry, Clarke. I had to tell you. I had to do it for me."

Clarke remained silent, drinking in the words that fell from her co-leader's lips.

He loved her.

He loved her.

He loved her.

He loved her.

Clarke takes a deep breath, but before she could get a word out, he was already kissing her.

In this moment she was his. His princess. It was like a dream playing out in front of him.

Clarke then realizes how much Bellamy felt for her. It pained her to even think that she just doesn't feel the same way. The idea of losing this man so very dear to her, just because she couldn't love him as much as he loved her, pained her.

Bellamy pulls away from the kiss.

He knew.

He knew that to Clarke, he didn't hold a candle to Lexa. And as much as it hurt him, he had to let her go.

Bellamy takes a deep breath. He doesn't let go of her and stares directly into those eyes he loved looking at so much.

"You love her, don't you?"

Clarke doesn't say anything, but her eyes give Bellamy the answer he needs.

"I'm sorry, Princess. I have to go."

He starts to walk towards the temporary camp, but stops and turns to Clarke once more.

"Take care, Clarke."

Clarke nods, watching as Bellamy walks away for the second time.

"You too, Bell." She says, but he doesn't hear her.

It's over! Well, technically, it isn't, but we're not quite sure if we want to write a sequel or just an epilogue. Either way, thank you for your support!
