Round Three: Vergil vs the World Part Four.

Foreword: After reading the reviews I feel I need to clarify something. Vergil does not have Force Edge currently, however as he is Sparda's son and knows of it in great detail he is able to mimic it by using summoned swords, however this only gives him access to a greatsword for melee combos, it does not have force edge's true powers or true cutting ability, it would be weaker than even Rebellion but still useful for maintaining a flurry of unpredictable attacks. Given that in DMC4SE one of Vergil's high style taunts twirls a summoned sword with his finger and also if an enemy is nearby when this is done, it will get harmed by the spinning sword, thus I see no restriction in him using them for melee combat.

With that cleared, enjoy the fall of mundie pants.

Limbo, Mundus' Corporate Headquarters.

Vergil easily tore through the pitiful opposition and approached a floating platform on his way up, after dealing with some of the larger demons whose names he did not bother to remember, again appeared the challenger that was Drekavac. Vergil was now determined to finish him off, enough was enough.

Again the two stood off, Vergil readied himself to draw Yamato, Drekavac twitched his head and charged and then quickly activated his portal.

Vergil however was out of patience, he formed a rift with Yamato himself and entered another dimension, Drekavac's portal dimension.

The Demon shrieked, angry at the intrusion, breaking it's usual code of silence. There was no escape this time.

Vergil trick dashed in front of the demon, grinning as he unleashed a flurry of attacks from Yamato, ending in a powerful downward slice powered by a quick devil trigger, this blow cut a swath across the demon's torso, making it collapse to it's knees as the Demonic energy formed a binding seal that would last a few seconds. Vergil quickly but ritualistically decapitated the demon, in partial respect for the fight it gave and to ensure it was dead.

Vergil exited Drekavac's dimension and arrived at what appeared to be a puzzle room, from what he could tell, it was guarded by some electronic lock. Unimpressed, Vergil used Yamato to enter normal space, surprising two human security guards who quickly opened fire with their sidearms, Vergil easily deflected the bullets in such a fashion as to kill the guards with the very bullets they fired. He then focused his energy and thoughts on the door, entered a devil trigger and executed his most powerful attack, Judgement Cut: End.

Time stopped for a moment as hundreds of millions of dimensional slashes ripped through the door. Vergil was unaffected by this as he slowly sheathed his blade, the click made time continue onward normally, the door was shredded both in the human world and in limbo, circumventing the only puzzle Vergil had come across in this world.

Mundus' human form was on the other side, alone, drawing a red demonic energy from the hellgate behind him.

Mundus spoke, saying "So, Vergil, as my agents have told me. I learned a few things about you from a surprising source of information, an entity from your realm who called himself the Timeweaver."

Vergil scoffed and replied "I know little of this demon, only that it supposedly was a servant of the Mundus from my world." fake Mundus was a little intrigued based on his expression and replied "I'm curious to know more about my doppelganger, the Timeweaver revealed little about him aside from our name's pronunciation." Vergil spoke, saying "I suppose it would be fitting for you to know about him, as you are approaching the end of your life. My world's Mundus was the Demon Emperor, he was more vicious than you could ever be, but he was not petty, he was calculating, thorough, meticulous even. He lured Sparda away and then attacked me and my brother's home. I was only eight years old, if not for my father's instructions in case of an emergency, he would have won there and then. Unlike this world, Sparda's betrayal wasn't creating hybrids, demon and human hybridization was actually quite common, though usually the method was through arcane rituals, not sexual reproduction. Sparda truly betrayed his kind, he, according to legend, single handedly fought back the entire demon world's armies and sealed the hellgate before sealing away Mundus, long before he met my mother. In truth, both from my own investigations and tales from him that I can remember, he fought them alongside both humans and other demons who sympathized with him. Mundus however got his revenge halfway, and is well aware of the fact that there are two Sons of Sparda, you failed to learn of my doppelganger's true form, though I suppose it matters not, since he is also dead. As far as I know, no more Nephilim exist in this realm. Though in my realm, the name refers to hybrids of Angel and Humans, not of Angels and Demons. No official terms exist for such entities though they do exist in my realm as well and are often confused with true Nephilim, they are just highly secretive and possess true power, enough to make even me prefer not to engage them, at my current level power anyway."

Mundus pondered this and then said "Interesting, I suppose you do have a point in addressing my faults, given the differences between our worlds. But the Timeweaver did more than just tell me things. He gave me something very interesting. A minor, adjustment."

Vergil pondered for a moment before three forms walked out from behind Mundus, one was a shadowed figure which was shifting between the Nephilim Dante and Vergil, though it disappeared soon after in a green rift, to the surprise of both Mundus and Vergil.

The Other two were extremely interesting, one was a woman, black haired, green eyes and black feathered wings, wielding a sword Vergil had seen in one book, though he sensed it was nowhere near full power, likely this was an imitation. The other form was this world's Dante, however he seemed to be more powerful and was not giving off the air of overconfidence and inexperience that the one Vergil killed did."

Mundus spoke, saying "According to the Timeweaver, these are variations of possible outcomes, one from each of our worlds. This woman is actually biologically your cousin, the daughter of Sparda's twin brother. However he was not at his full power and could not pull her powers entirely, she is mostly human, but as he was able to control this realm's powers somewhat, thanks in part to energy loaned from my hellgate and oddly, an Angel which seemed to hate your realm to an extreme, sacrificed much of her power to create this doppelganger of Dante. I am intrigued on how you would fare against the two of them."

Vergil grinned and said "I hope they put up a challenge. I was unaware Sparda had a brother, though I suppose it makes sense, he did mention that someone very close to him betrayed him after fighting off our realm's Mundus, though he refused to name him."

Vergil drew his Yamato and then summoned the Rebellion sword he took from DINO, setting it on his back. Mundus simply sat down and poured a glass of champagne as the girl and the phantom Dante charged.

Vergil deflected the phantom's attack with Rebellion and the girl's attack with Yamato and then trick dashed backwards and executed a charged drive attack, a crescent shaped demonic energy projectile at the Girl, who was simply too incomplete to deflect it, being more human than demon, likely a result of the Timeweaver's weakness. As she was knocked back, a large portal opened and showed a large clown face ball exploding point blank, surprising all parties involved, the demon Jester had arrived yet again.

Jester was laughing loudly before speaking, saying "Ah I just couldn't resist. Not to worry Devil Boy! I want to see Mundie Pants get skewered as much as you do!" Vergil did not even acknowledge the odd demon whilst the demonic Mundus, upon hearing the insult "Mundie Pants", flew into a rage, likely provoked by the conflicting natures of the two universes. Jester however easily avoided him by exploding into Confetti as Mundus leaped at him. With Mundus caught off guard, Jester waved a scepter around, causing a shield to form around him, Mundus formed a demonic lance from the hellgate and charged at Jester, to no avail.

Meanwhile Vergil was locked in a duel with phantom Dante, a fight between both of their Rebellion swords, Vergil had switched from his usual fighting style and was fighting a little more like his brother's Swordmaster style, having been well versed in it, even if he did not prefer it. Vergil was toying with his opponent who then dashed back and shifted his Rebellion into a scythe like weapon exerting an angelic aura. Vergil sighed and absorbed Rebellion and drew out his doppelganger's Yamato and then drew his own, holding the two blades in a dual wielding style used by some Samurai in his world's history. Vergil assaulted the scythe wielding Dante, his two blades matching the fast and fluid motions of Dante's weapon which was somehow giving off the name Osiris, after an Egyptian god, it was not worthy of such a name.

Vergil used demonic energy to attach the grip of the Nephilim Yamato to the edge of his own, creating a makeshift scythe to hook Osiris and yank it from Dante, throwing his blade up, which separated mid-air, as he grabbed Osiris and impaled it into Dante's back, leaping off him to grab his swords and then using his devil trigger to quickly pulse him downwards in a two blade down slash attack he mentally identified as "Disarming Strike" and true to it's name, removed the phantom's arms.

Jester was toying with Mundus who was no longer angry, but furious and unleashed a massive wave of energy which devastated the landscape around him, temporarily merging Limbo and the Human Realm for a split second, it hit the city like a carpet bombing run. Jester however was merely laughing, Vergil had held his ground using both Yamato blades and Mundus was furious. Jester had been hurt by the attack and said "Well Devil Boy, I've done my part. We'll meet again in our world. Don't fail everyone now!" and created a rift and escaped through it, Mundus ignored him and turned his attention to Vergil who swiftly decapitated the phantom Dante and then threw the Nephilim Yamato into the hellgate, destroying it.

Mundus was shocked for a moment before saying "The Hellgate, do you have any idea what you've just done?" Vergil nodded as Limbo merged with the human world, demons became visible to the humans. Vergil spoke, saying "I've destroyed your source of power and thus took away Limbo, your only real advantage over me. It's over." Vergil telekinetically recalled the Nephilim Yamato and trick dashed behind Mundus, lunging the blade through his back and out his chest, Mundus was brought to his knees before roaring and detonating in a wave of demonic energy, pushing Vergil into another building, though he still had both Yamato blades, having held on tightly to them.

A large, colossal entity rose, three eyes, somewhat reminiscent of his world's Mundus, but only in that regard, and not fully, like a sad, vain attempt to create a nostalgic effect. Mundus spoke, saying "Do you know who I am you piece of shit!? I, am, Mundus."

Vergil scoffed and said "No, you are a sad, pathetic attempt at an imitation of my world's Mundus. Your name is pronounced wrong, your insults are worse than a child's, your powers are laughably weak compared to mine. Limbo was your only advantage and now, it is gone. I have won, this is not a fight, this is you squirming as I choke the life out of your weak, pitiful, defenseless form."

Mundus roared and sent a beam of energy from his mouth, Vergil effortlessly evaded it, absorbed the Nephilim Yamato and used his own to create rifts to other buildings before choosing a stable platform in which to engage the giant demon. He knew his target, this form was just wreckage formed and shaped, Mundus was just a lesser demon possessing a human's body like a parasite. Vergil would grant that human the only freedom he could.

Channeling both his focus and energy, Vergil focused on evading Mundus' energy and melee attacks with ease. Mundus was getting irritated at his inability to land even a scrape. Vergil then suddenly devil triggered and summoned all three weapons, Yamato, Nephilim Yamato and Nephilim Rebellion and disintegrated the Nephilim weapons, merging their energy with his own Yamato, empowering it even further. In a demonic toned voice, Vergil spoke, saying "This is the end." and executed a Judgement Cut: End fueled by both Demonic and Angelic Energy, a massive lightshow of both Blue and Red energies, creating a bright purplish violet barrage which slashed across Mundus' entire form, not just his Human core. Time stopped for Mundus as Vergil slowly sheathed his blade, as the click made it's sound, Mundus' form began disintegrating into small chunks, including his human core, now sliced up into several bloody fillets. Vergil looked on at the destroyed city areas and said "Worry not, your pain will also come to an end."

Slashing the air next to him with Yamato, he opened a rift into a Universe filled with entropy, in total equilibrium. His influence kept the rift a mere window before forming a rift to his own realm, leaving behind this forsaken world. As his portal to home closed, safely securing his own realm, his influence ended, but the first rift remained, immediately the pressure difference began causing the matter and energy in the abomination of a reality to drain slowly. It would not be given the glorious end of a bang. It would die slowly, with a whimper.

Outside the Temin-Ni-Gru, the next day

Vergil looked down onto the destroyed city, having risen the Temin-Ni-Gru. Arkham mentioned nothing of Vergil's disappearance, whilst Vergil was away for several days, to this world, only a couple hours passed. Vergil looked briefly at his own Yamato, still fueled with Angelic and Demonic powers from that abominable realm. It was the only thing of worth from that realm. A large demon appeared behind him, wounded form a fight with his true brother, Vergil easily killed the Hell Vanguard, but as the blade clicked with the sheath, as the Demon turned to sand, Vergil was struck with a vision.

Of a place in the Himalayas, a temple covered in snow. Deep inside, something stirred, a familiar energy, the same energy as his father. Another vision flashed to another place and time, it was a Devil May Cry shop but in a neighboring city, not Dante's hometown. Two people exited, armed each with the same identical blade. The girl was familiar, then it came to him. It was the same girl as the phantom Jester had destroyed. Vergil felt kinship, and power, she had power, much more than the phantom that was destroyed. This Vision ended with the sight of an unknown demon, a green energy perturbed around it.

Vergil made a resolution, once he had taken Force Edge, he would hunt down this Timeweaver and destroy him, before he could ever become a threat to him.

End?

Afterword: I'm glad those who enjoyed the Dark Slayer's rampage in the abominable non-canon reboot.

I wanted it to be an actual alternate universe because then it would have substance, in order for something to be destroyed, it must first exist. Like stealing candy from a baby, the candy must first be in the baby's hands, thats the logic behind it. In this case, the candy is DmC: Devil May Cry, and the baby is Ninja Theory and Capcom.

As far as making a "Fix Fic", that is, possible, but I'd rather DmC be dead, fully and completely dead. All that remains of it is the only things of note, Vergil's memories of destroying it, the only worthwhile powers taken from the Nephilim Swords infused into Yamato and the liberation of the Timeweaver.

I always believed Vergil's true roster of skills was actually the same as Dante, it would make sense to instruct both of them together in Sparda's eyes. Vergil also whilst despising firearms, is capable of using them, as shown when he and Dante expelled Arkham from the demon realm. So whilst he's not going to use guns except in that one instance, his melee attacks could parallel Dante, but with them being twins, obviously Vergil would want to be somewhat independent of his brother, hence why he chose a more elegant fighting style, but as in the Special Edition of DMC 3 and 4, He fights more like a hybrid style of his Dark Slayer style and Dante's Swordmaster style when using Force Edge, or any other greatsword and Yamato.

I will be working on a story which will involve the Timeweaver, specifically a direct sequel to Rise of Kylanos.

I'm glad for the support in the reviews. As for the criticisms, I also thank you for that too. It let me know that I did good work, after all, you should always know the logic "Don't feed the troll."

So thanks for the feed :3

Also, there is no way to save the DmC universe. It will die a slow and silent death, This specific Vergil is the only one who could save it and he will never do so. By the time DMC3 is over, it will be too late, The resulting destruction would merge both the universe in entropy and the dying DmC universe, causing a paradox that will simply blink both out of existence as if they were never created to begin with. That other universe had no life at all, being a universe with equal anti-matter and matter in it's creation, resulting in a very early state of entropy and equilibrium, so there was no collateral damage, as the target was the entire DmC universe. And as the demon realm, angel realms and human realms are merely separate dimensions, they are contained in the DmC Universe and will perish along with it.

Glad you enjoyed reading this, cause I sure as hell enjoyed writing this.

EDIT:

I wish to clarify the ending scene further before moving onto my other stories. This was a reference slash teaser and or trailer for a sequel story, Devil May Cry:The Timeweaver which will be focused on the Timeweaver's revenge. The individuals in Vergil's vision were OCs Ray Zenji and Laura Kylani, if you are interested in them and how they relate to Dante, read the story Devil May Cry:Rise of Kylanos. Like that story I will be trying to write the Timeweaver in a present tense format entirely. To further clarify, those characters decided to help Dante expand the DMC Mercenary Business, mainly because he needs to pay off his exorbitant debt with Lady and several cities for the collateral damage he tends to cause on his day-to-day jobs, like that bridge from the DMC anime. The reason I wanted to tie this in with an existing story was to give meaning to the DmC universe's destruction, as mentioned before, something needs to have substance in order to destroy it. This will be my last update for this story, if you have any questions you wish answered, either PM me or wait for me to publish The Timeweaver and then review it, whatever fancies you.

Till next time...
