A/N: I have no excuse. I want to thank those of you who have poked and prodded and waited patiently for an update. Only about two chapters left for this one. My other fanfics will also be updated. I believe I may be back on track. Peace. H
"Where the hell is he?" Paddy growled. When they pulled up outside the storage unit office, Paddy immediately tried to get out of the car.
"No!" Mac grabbed his boss' arm. "The cops'll be here any minute now. You know we can't do this."
Paddy ripped his arm out of Mac's grip. "Maura is my daughter. To hell with the police."
"Sure Paddy, sure." Mac turned off the car and looked at his phone. "Unit 511, should be around back."
"Let's go."

Korsak pulled up along with several other police cars. He caught a glimpse of Paddy and cursed. One more thing to pile on Jane.
The others pulled up and he caught a glimpse of Jane's face. He shuddered.
"Where is she Vince?" When he didn't answer right away she started to walk away.
"Janie."
"No, this ends now."
He nodded. "Garcia says Hoyt had a storage unit here under another name." His tone when he said it made them all pause.
"Whose name?" Emily asked.
Vince swallowed. "It was under M. Rizzoli."
Jane went pale at his words knowing full well this was where Hoyt had planned to end their relationship.
"Unit?"
"511." He took her by the arm. "Don't go in halfcocked. You aren't cleared for duty yet. Being at the prison was one thing, but this…"
"This is Maura, Vince." She looked over at the arriving officers and took a deep breath. "Two minutes Vince. I'll quit if I have to."
Korsak cursed and left them to coordinate with the officers on the scene, leaving Emily in charge of the FBI contingent until Hotch arrived.

JJ knew what this was costing Jane and she knew without a doubt they would have to arrest her to stop her, so she didn't try.
"Here." She waved Jane over to the SUV and dug in her bag. She, like Emily, always kept a spare sidearm. Her preference, a .38 snub nose. She placed her hands over Jane's wrapped ones as she took it. "I know we can't stop you and we won't, but we need to do this the right way. You should be able to use this better than your own gun."
Jane felt the heft of the weapon and wrapped her hand around the grip. The twinges in her wrist were manageable and she knew the recoil if she did have to use it, wouldn't rip the gun out of her hand.
"Thank you Jayje." Her husky voice said much more.
"We're going with you."
"I know…but stay out of my way." Jane was careful with her words. She didn't have a plan except for one, Maura lives. All other concerns were secondary.
Emily jogged back to them.
"Ready?"
Jane shoved the gun in her jacket pocket. "Let's go."

Vince tried to talk her out of it and in the end made the call to go with them. Boston P.D. had every entry point covered and the office had been evacuated.
He had to tell her though and now was his chance.
"Janie, I think Paddy's here."
She whirled on him. "What? What the fuck, Vince!" She took off at a run toward the unit while he cursed and followed.
They found Paddy and his goon as they were about to break into a unit a couple down from Hoyt's.
She could've been a ninja the way she moved. Jane had her gun under his chin and was hustling him over to the corner of the building before his goon could say a word. When she thought they were far enough she slammed him against the wall.
"You're going to get her killed! What the hell were you doing?"
"Your job Rizzoli!" Paddy waved at Mac as he squared off against the FBI agents. "Drop the gun Mac, they want what I want." He rubbed his chin. "You're supposed to protect her, Rizzoli, instead you almost get her blown up and now this!"
"Keep your voice down" Emily hissed. She peeked around the corner. "This is helping no one, least of all Maura." She holstered her gun. "Shit! Am I right in assuming you won't leave until we get to Maura?"
"What do you think agent?" His mild accent when he said agent made her flinch. It was too much like her Doyle and a shiver ran down her spine.
"We can use them Jane…Jane!" She grabbed Jane by the arm and made her look at her. "We can do this."
Jane swallowed and nodded. Her head was spinning. She was riding high on adrenaline but given the beating her body had taken just a few days before, it was protesting in a big way.
"How?" She ground out.

Jane shook her head trying to clear it before moving forward. She could hear Groh. The sound of a slap made her stiffen. She wanted to go in guns blazing but they had worked out something with Doyle. She just had to hope he came through for them, for Maura.
"Show time…" she whispered.
"Groh!" She walked forward, hands raised and approached unit 511. The roll up moved and she kept moving forward.
"Stop!" Groh grabbed a handful of Maura's hair and pulled her along with him. He looked across to the other units and barely spared a glance to either side of her. "Inside Rizzoli." He stepped back further into the storage unit.
Jane did as she was told and breathed a sigh of relief as she took a look around. There was room to maneuver. The 10 x 20-foot unit was filled with surgical equipment, gurney and all. What looked like a dentist chair sat in the corner and there were several steamer trunks strewn about the room.
The ones she could see into held more anatomical carving equipment than she had ever seen. The saving grace, the ceiling. Like most storage units the walls didn't go all the way up to the ceiling. The space was minimal but it was their one chance.
"Jane," Maura moaned.
"Shh…it's okay Maur…"
"Shut up!" Groh yanked Maura's hair back again and pointed his gun at Jane. "Sit."
When she moved to sit in the chair, he laughed. "No, no, no, the gurney Rizzoli. Sit on the gurney." He secured the door behind her.
Jane sat down. Grateful he hadn't bothered to check her jacket. The sight of Maura being dragged around by her hair was enough to make her scream, but she had to stay calm, for both their sakes.
The wail of an approaching siren made Groh curse under his breath.
"Cavalry's here, huh Rizzoli?"
"What did you expect?" She retorted. "You're holding the Medical Examiner hostage."
"Ahh, but she's not just the ME is she Rizzoli?" His tone was different from Hayes. More like Hoyt, snakelike, cold and unfeeling.
"No, she's not." She couldn't hide what she felt and she saw the shock in Maura's face as she answered. "You got me here like you wanted, you don't need her. Let her go."
Groh laughed out loud. "Let her go? Rizzoli, I'm going to finish what Hoyt couldn't. Your doctor here is going to die slowly, painfully and you are going to watch."
Now it was Jane's turn to laugh. Groh threw Maura down and straddled her.
"Keep laughing Rizzoli and I will do so much more to your medical examiner."
Jane jumped off the gurney and was immediately looking down the barrel of Groh's gun.
"Jane, don't!" Maura pushed against him and was rewarded with a backhand to the face.
"Leave her alone!" Jane's scream served two purposes. One to focus his attention on her, and the other to drown out any noise there might be from the others. "You don't have to do this Groh. Hoyt's dead, gone."
"No! He's not gone as long as one of us is alive! We're like his children. That's what he said!"
He waved the gun around. "Don't you see Rizzoli? He planned for this, for you." Groh reached into one of the chests and pulled out a leather handled scalpel.
Jane held her breath as he approached Maura with it, calculating how fast she could draw her gun. Then he stopped and looked back at her.
"This one is special you know. He had it made just for you." He turned the handle slightly.
She almost threw up when she saw her name on it. My Jane.
"You're sick, you know that?"
Groh licked the scalpel, letting it nick his tongue. Jane flinched.
"I am not sick. I'm right!"
Jane didn't expect him to lunge. Not then. She moved, faster than she thought possible. The scalpel sliced the arm of her jacket as she dove for Maura and reached for her gun.
Groh wailed and turned to attack again when the metal door started rising.
"Wha-"
Jane and JJ both opened fire on him. Coming from both directions, he was like a marionette caught up in his strings before he fell.
The silence after the cacophony was profound. Ears ringing, Jane pulled Maura into her arms.
"Are you all right?" Jane's heart was pounding out of her chest. It was relief, the possibility of loss, the death of the devil. Everything was mixed into that question as tears ran down her face.
Maura held on tightly as she felt Jane's sobs of relief. The tinnitus she was suffering from ignored.
"Hey Rizzoli, you got this now?" Paddy walked into the unit and spit on the body of the man who hurt his daughter.
"Paddy?" Maura looked from her father to Jane.
Jane looked at her wife to be and gave her a sheepish grin. "We had some help." She nodded up to the rafters and waved at JJ.
"Thanks Paddy." Jane was gruff but grateful.
"Hmm…Hold on to that one Maura." He walked past Korsak, who waved to the police officers to let Paddy go.
Maura wobbled.
"Come on, let's get you out of here and get you to the hospital."
"You too," she whispered.
"Me?" Jane looked at her arm and let out a string of curses even Korsak winced at.
The scalpel had sliced through her jacket and bicep. She flexed her arm and bit her lip. It hurt like the devil but she was okay. Maura was watching her expectantly.
"Fine Maura, me too. After all, once the reports are done and we get an all clear, we need to get married, don't we?"
Next up, A bit of mending, a bit of nookie, and a simple wedding.(?)
