Trainer: Chikina
- (F, Gardevoir) Sereria
- (M, Charizard) Zadon
- (M, Squirtle) Mex
- (F, Ivysaur) Bana
- (M, Gengar) Gan
"Yeah, what're you looking at, you freaks?"
...who is she? Chikina wondered. "S-Sereria, do you... wait, of course not..." Considering how much time Sereria spends with her, despite her allowing her Pokémon to do pretty much whatever they desired, there was no way her precious Gardevoir would somehow know some rude woman without her knowing. And she herself doesn't even recognize this woman, so... really, who is she?
"...w-who are you?" she eventually asked, shoving the woman's remark somewhere deep in her mind to think about later.
The girl snorted. "Hmph. Me? Just the great August, on her easy quest to become the top Trainer!" August then pointed at her. "And what do I see suddenly? A Trainer gettin' all lovey dovey! With a Pokémon! A Pokémon!"
"...uh..." Pretending she wasn't slightly embarrassed, Chikina turned to Sereria. I told you so...!
Sereria gave a sheepish grin. Sorry, she transmitted. "Voire voire? (Shall we go?)"
"W-well. Um. Sure." Chikina got up, crepe still in her hand, grabbing her Pokémon's other hand. "L-let's get to shopping."
"Hold on!" August exclaimed.
The two turned to her. "W-what?"
Said woman growled. "Don't just ignore me, you lot! We've got a big problem here, which is your relationship with that Gardevoir!"
They exchanged glances. "W-we're just... Trainer and Pokémon!"
"Extremely close, too," August added. "I say something's fishy. Right, Lury?"
Her partner Pokémon chirped. Its body was pink in color, with two scythe-like arms or hands, small white lines along its body and some green stuff sprouting from it. It almost looked like a praying mantis Pokémon.
"...w-wow, I don't recognize that Pokémon..." Chikina murmured.
Me neither, Sereria transmitted.
"Anyways, I believe I'll have to put you in your place!" August said. "You! I'm challenging you to a battle, right here! One on one!"
The blondne frowned. "I... uh... I- I have to go shopping..."
"No, you've got enough time to be flirting with your Pokémon, it's fine," August reassured. "Now prepare yourself already, jeez!"
Sighing, Chikina began to feel frustrated. "...o-okay."
You sure? Sereria transmitted.
"Y-yeah. I- I can't turn her down..." the blonde said. More like she's getting annoying...
"Good, no running away. Very good!" August said and laughed. "I'll be using my Lurantis, Lury. You use your disgusting Gardevoir or whatever."
"...Sereria, I'll hold your crepe."
Uh oh. Sereria nodded and handed her unfinished crepe to her Trainer, and stretched her fingers. She's pissed. Noting her Trainer's lack of stuttering in her speech, Sereria knew right away that for once, Chikina was angry, more than enough to be rid of her shy behavior. "Voire. (Ready.)"
August laughed. "That idiot it is. Now then, because I am graceful, I shall let you attack first!" She then laughed like a stereotyped rich anime girl.
"...don't regret that," Chikina said. "Sereria! Moonblast!"
Without delay, Sereria, who had been charging her powers beforehand, shot out a ball of light pink aura towards the mysterious Pokémon.
August flinched. "W-whoa! Lury, X-Scissor it away!"
Her Pokémon nodded and managed to react in time, charging its scythe-like arms and slash the blast of moonlight into nothing.
"Now, use Razor L-"
"Teleport behind her and use Psyshock!"
August flinched again when she heard Chikina already giving her Gardevoir the next orders. In a fit of panic, she looked to the battle and saw Sereria warp behind her Lurantis, who failed to react to the Psychic-type's disappearance in time. The next second, her Pokémon was struck by a powerful beam of purple energy from behind and sent flying across the park.
"L-Lury!" August shouted and ran to her Pokémon. She got down on her knees and grabbed hold of her Lurantis. "Y-you okay?"
"Luur... (No...)"
Her frown turned to a scowl. She quickly turned around, about to shout, when she froze- Chikina stood behind her, with her arms crossed.
"You're a jerk!" Chikina exclaimed.
"W-wha-"
"Come on, Sereria! We're going!" the blonde said, turning around and grabbing Sereria's hand. She pulled her Pokémon away, not even glancing back at the defeated Trainer.
August blinked. "...w-who is she...?"
The door slammed open. Mex the Squirtle jumped, whilst Bana the Ivysaur and Gen the Gengar turned to the door. (Zadon the Charizard flew away in search of more challenges, not knowing his Trainer would be home soon.) "Squirtle! (Whoa!)"
Chikina walked in, carrying plastic bags by herself. Sereria walked in after, closing the door with her psychic powers.
"I'm home..." the blonde said, and with a sigh, headed to the kitchen without much words.
Her Pokémon exchanged glances. "Squirtle squirtle. Squir squirtle? (Moody much. What happened?)"
Sereria the Gardevoir sighed. "Voire voire garde gardevoir voire. (Some Trainer girl insulted us.)"
"Gengar? (And then?)" Gan asked.
"Gardevoir. (We battled.)"
Bana raised an eyebrow.
"...voire. (We won.)"
"Saur. (Ah.)"
Sereria plopped onto the sofa, relaxing her nerves. "...voire voire, garde garde voir. (Thinking about it, they were weak.)"
"Ivy ivysaur, saur. (Cockiness is bad, you know?)"
"Gardevoir, voir garde voir voire. (To be specific, one Psyshock finished her.)"
"Geng? (One?)" Gengar said. "Gengar gengar garr? (How long was the battle anyways?)"
The Gardevoir rubbed her chin. "...gardevoire. (...ten seconds.)"
"Squir- squirtle! (Wha- fast!)"
She then shrugged. From what I recall, humans have a way of measuring our strength called 'levels'... she thought. The last time we went to check my estimated power, the machine said I was... level 65, if I remembered correctly? Whenever that was, it was definitely before they came to permanently stay at Chikina's old house. ...ah well. "Voire, gardevoir. (Right, I'm strong.)" she simply said to the others.
"Squirtle, squirtle squirtle squir squir squirtle...? (Gan, how do you even survive her onslaught...?)"
Gan grinned and proudly pats his chest. "Garr... gengar gengar. (Right... I'm strong too.)"
"Garde garde voire... (We'll see about that...)" Sereria said.
Gan bowed. "Gengaaaar! (Mercyyyyy!)"
Chikina then entered the room. "D-dinner's ready, guys... Where's Zadon?"
"Squirtle squirtle. (Somewhere to train.)" With a simple reply, Mex quickly scurried into the dining room.
As Sereria translated the turtle's words to her Trainer, Chikina sighed. "Oh well... I'll give him his portion later." She then went and sat down next to Sereria, leaning her head on the Pokémon's shoulder. "...j-just for a while..."
"Gengaaaar. (Have fuuuun.)" Gan didn't show any interest and went to have his dinner as well, Bana following after.
Sereria petted her Trainer. "Gardevoir? (Still frustrated?)" she asked.
"Mmhm..." Chikina closed her eyes. "She... she called you disgusting, so I..."
"Gardevoire... (You're sweet...)" the Gardevoir said. "Garde garde... voir. (On my behalf... thanks.)"
"Yeah..." The blonde then sat up. "I- I mean, that's just not r-right! You're not disgusting!" She grabbed Sereria's hand. "To me... to me, you're very beautiful!"
Sereria smiled. "Gardevoir. (Same to you.)" She kissed her Trainer lightly, who returned it. "Voire, garde voire? (Now, shall we eat?)"
"...m-maybe later..." Chikina said, and leaned on the Pokémon's shoulder again. "...in a moment..."
"...voire. (...okay.)" Smiling more, Sereria did the same and leaned on Chikina's shoulder, both enjoying the quiet that followed.
They could almost fall asleep by how peaceful it wa-
CRASH
"Squirtle squirtle, squirrr! (Stop juggling plates, Gan!)"
"Ivy ivy! Ivy saaaasasasasauuur! (A shard hit me! It hur-owowowowow-uuurts!)"
"Gengar gengaaar! (It's the plates' faaauult!)"
The two exchanged glances, sighed, and hurried to the dining room.
"Damn it... she defeated Lury with just one attack...!" August muttered. "Just who is she!? To be able to defeat my Lury, who's power was estimated by the official Pokémon Centers to be around level 40..." Her eyes widened. She looked up at the sky, disbelief on her face. "No way... she must have cheated!"
Her Pokémon, Lury the Lurantis, weakly shook her head. "Luuuuur... lura luraa... (No... she's just strong...)"
August petted Lury's head. "Don't worry, Lury! I'll avenge you, fair and square!"
"...lura, luur... (...ugh, idiot...)"
Because a daily-life story would become boring after a while, I decided to introduce August. I'll be putting more focus on the aspect of a human and a Pokémon romantic relationship, in the eyes of... well... society. That, or some individuals. Eh. idk whatevs meh.
Regarding levels, I'm not sure how to incorporate the idea of 'levels' and 'stats' in-universe. My headcanon is that certain machines (Pokémon Centers-provided machines, PC boxes, etc.) allow you to check estimated stats and levels of a Pokémon. Alternatively, people who are provided Pokédexes receive the same features, just portable, thus not requiring to go check anywhere else. (Now the next problem: experience points. Hm... oh well.)
