Hey all! In honor of my birthday, here is the final chapter for this story. I know it wasn't long and sorry that there was a lot of waiting but thank you for sticking with the story and liking it! I really enjoyed writing this story, and am shocked by the amount of people who liked it. Thank you again! I hope you like the final chapter-I made sure it was extra sweet.

Tadashi watched with a smile on his face as Hiro presented his science project. He was already seven years old and was the top of his grade. He was a little stinker at times but Tadashi couldn't admit that Hiro was passionate and brilliant.

Hiro was already looking to be just like his father as his robot was expertly crafted to break apart into smaller pieces and open a can of pickles easily before coming back together. It still had glitches here and there but with Tadashi's help, Hiro won first prize at his science fair.

Hiro looked into the crowd for his father and held up his blue ribbon proudly for Tadashi to see, his big gap-toothed grin spreading to both ears.

Tadashi nodded proudly and gave him a thumbs up. Aunt Cass stood next to him, obviously proud of Hiro as she could do nothing but bounce up and down excitedly.

Hiro hopped off the stage and ran to Tadashi, who picked him up and held him close, "You did amazing, buddy!" Tadashi told him.

Hiro shoved the ribbon in his face, "For you, Daddy!" he smiled.

"No," Tadashi smiled, pushing the ribbon gently to Hiro, "This is all for you. You worked so hard and did fantastic."

Hiro continued to smile and hugged the ribbon to his chest, "But you helped me."

"I did, but you thought of the idea and you made it happen. That makes you a true Hamada."

Hiro nodded, "Yeah, that's me!"

Tadashi laughed and let Aunt Cass give him a hug. He looked over to see other parents smiling proudly at their kids, telling them how good they did. He never thought a day like today would be possible for him but it was.

What happened to Hiro so long ago felt like it never even happened and he was happy with that. Now and then, Hiro wanted to talk about his parents or the men who murdered them, but Tadashi began to notice that Hiro wasn't that scared little boy he adopted ages ago, he was growing up and getting confident. Shoot he stopped needing therapy ages ago.

"Daddy! Aunt Cass said she's gonna give me ice cream and gummy bears!" Hiro cheered.

"Is she gonna let you spend the night after all that sugar?" Tadashi laughed, ruffling Hiro's hair.

Hiro giggled and tugged his dad's arm, "Please!"

Tadashi rolled his eyes but nodded, "Okay, since you worked hard and won first place, I'll let it slide." He winked.

Hiro cheered again and started rushing off towards the front of the building. He put his hands in his pockets and noticed Aunt Cass watching him.

He turned to her with a questioning look.

She smiled and sighed, "You were always meant to be Hiro's father, no doubt about it."

He smiled at her and then looked towards his son who was shaking hands with another student who had won second place.

"I stopped doubting that ages ago." He agreed firmly, "I'm proud of him."

"I'm proud of you." Aunt Cass nodded, "It wasn't always easy raising you but you were so smart and kind, you just made my job a breeze."

"If only Hiro were that easy." Tadashi laughed, "You know he seriously tried to make Sakura rocket boosters for her feet?"

Aunt Cass snorted, "She is getting old and lazy."

"Oh and what is Mochi?" Tadashi laughed, remembering how his poor cat now practically lived under his bed because of Hiro, "But regardless of all that…I love him."

"I know you do." She smiled proudly, "I love both of you, which is why I spoil you."

He laughed again, "Can't complain with that."

"Daddy!" Hiro called, "Come on!"

"Hold your horses, buddy, not all of us are seven years old." Tadashi grinned as he hoisted Hiro onto his shoulders, "You're getting heavy."

"I can't wait till I'm tall like you!" Hiro said, holding onto his father's ears like he always did.

Questions like this no longer bothered Tadashi. They used to make him feel uncertain but now he shrugged off those feelings and merely accepted that even though he and Hiro were not blood, they were family, and that was all that mattered.

"I can wait." He muttered with a chuckle.

"Daddy I tell all the kids at school that I have the best dad because he helps me build robots and he's tall and knows karate!"

"What do you want?" Tadashi laughed.

Hiro giggled and squeezed his ears, "You are the best daddy and you're all I need, right?"

"Hey now, don't forget our friends and Aunt Cass." Tadashi reminded him.

"Oh yeah!" Hiro smiled.

Tadashi grinned as he thought of all the people in his life who helped make sure Hiro stayed in his life. Thanks to all of them, Tadashi never got another phone call about his 'unfit parenting' and Hiro was doing incredible.

"Daddy! Wait!" Hiro yelled, squeezing his ears.

"Ouch! Easy buddy, what is it?" he laughed.

"Can you come to my class? I want to show you something!" Hiro smiled.

Tadashi looked over at Cass who smiled and nodded, "I'll go ahead and get that ice cream ready."

Tadashi nodded and gave her a fond look, "Thank you Aunt Cass…for everything."

She nodded back and went to her car.

Tadashi walked with Hiro towards his classroom building. It was on campus where he worked so it wasn't very far. They usually walked all over campus together and Tadashi hardly drove, save for driving towards the city. Hiro loved their walks and he hoped that never changed.

He came to the school building and walked in. He found Hiro's classroom down the hall, covered in all sorts of colors and kids art work.

Hiro had a locker with his picture and name on it. Tadashi came to his classroom and Hiro got down to lead him inside. He turned on the lights and saw Hiro's desk near the front of the room. Hiro went to it and took out something he was working on. He showed it to Tadashi who swallowed.

"This month we're talking about our heroes." Hiro told him, "Some kids chose the president or a sports player, but…I chose you."

Tadashi smiled at the drawing of himself in some kind of superhero suit. Underneath the drawing it said "My Hero: My Daddy".

Tadashi let a small tear slide down before coughing and looking down at Hiro, he picked him up and held him close, "Thank you, Hiro. I love you so much."

Hiro hugged him back, "Can I be your sidekick?"

Tadashi laughed, leaving the drawing on the desk and walking out with Hiro, "Sure thing, bud, you'll always be my number one helper."

"I wanna fly!" Hiro smiled.

"You will buddy, someday…I just know you will." Tadashi agreed. It may not be flying like an airplane, but Hiro was going to go so far…Hiro was going to soar. And Tadashi couldn't be happier to be the one to see that someday. But for now, he was content to just watch his kid eat ice cream all night. And to his delight, and some dismay, he did just that. But none of it mattered as he tucked his boy in at night. Hiro was his son, and he was his dad. In his eyes, nothing could be more incredible than this.
