Thank you so much for continuing to read and review. It means a lot! Especially with my busy life and it takes times to plan a chapter. Here is the next chapter!
As the song dwindled down to its last few notes, Master continued to hold me. It was nice, being acknowledged as a person, even though I was not physically alive. There was a level of trust and content of which I had never known. He slowly loosened his hold on me, taking a step back to bow. I curtsied, as it was the appropriate response.
"You dance beautifully, my lady."
I cooked my head to the side; almost sure I was missing some reference. A halfhearted laugh escaped his mouth as he sat down at the table. "So tell me about your day." I sat across from him, unsure of what he was referring to. "You mean during business hours?" I clarified. "Or after. Anything interesting happen?" My mind quickly flashed to the things I had seen. My form shivered, noticeably so to him. "Something bad?" Master asked, "Children being children?"
"No…after…" I started, "I was charging before you got here and I…saw things I cannot explain." "You mean from the old animatronics? Didn't you say that could happen." I nodded. "Yes, but I'm sure I was myself. But…I didn't think I was part of the original restaurant. It had to be there though because Freddy was not in pieces." I placed my mask in my hands. "What did you see?" he asked. At first, I wasn't sure how to explain it or where to even start. The old location? The man in purple? The murdered children? I decided to depict everything I saw in the order I remembered it. As I started to share the details of what I had seen, I saw the expected horror in my Master's eyes. However, I did not register shock, as if…he already knew all of this? Silence descended on the room for a while after I finished. Hopefully I had not said enough to make him want to leave. All of this was clearly in the past.
"But I thought you weren't there…you must have some of their memories stored."
My head fell to the side once more, unsure of what he meant. "Puppet…that actually happened." He took a deep breath. "The murder of those five children." My eyes got wider, "Wh-what do you mean?"
"I looked up some old newspaper articles at the library today. The old location was under investigation because a man in purple lured five children into the back room, probably similar to this one."
Suddenly, the room felt filthy to me and I could almost touch the discomfort. "He was caught by the security footage but the bodies were never found." He continued as I felt parts of my hard drive start to move. "How did he manage this?" I asked. "Apparently he wore a Golden Freddy suit. I didn't know that there was such a thing." My frame started to shake. I knew exactly what he was referring to but they were not used anymore. "There are two of them…" I muttered. "Two? Are they animatronics?" He asked.
"Yes…they double as wearable costumes. You have to compress their insides. No one uses them now, as I heard they were deadly if not compressed correctly. They rarely wander though as they have been deactivated for years."
"They?"
"Golden Freddy and another one I've never interacted with: Golden Bonnie. The only time I interacted with Golden Freddy…I crashed."
"Where are they kept?"
I shook my head. "Honestly, I have no idea. It's been so long since I heard anything about them." All of this information was driving my processor wild. "Did you learn anything else?" He nodded, almost hesitant to speak. I reached across the table and touched his hand. He just looked at me, running over the words in his head. "The same man who killed those children, also struck at Fredbear's Diner. He murdered a small girl." I went to speak but a small shock went through me. Why? Did his words cause something? I shook it form my head, focusing on my Master alone.
"That's terrible that someone could willingly harm children like that. I'm sorry these things upset you, Master. But I promise that I will not allow anyone to hurt you here."
He smiled back at me, thanking me softly. I didn't want to focus on the past anymore. Part of it was my programming telling me to stop digging but I didn't want to say that. "So is that all you do at this library? Look up newspaper articles?"
"You don't know what a library is?" He asked. I just blinked. The world outside the restaurant was something I knew very little about. Of course I had heard of a library before but had I ever been in one? No. "I know the definition. That is all." Master nodded. "Have you ever read a book?" I shook my head. He smiled somewhat.
"Well then, I have some plans from here on out."
The nights that followed were full of wonder and fun. I would start to feel myself anticipating Monday nights so Master and I could be together. Saturday and Sunday nights were the unneeded shifts that I never hated until now. Saturdays were updating and charging night so no one wandered but me. Sundays were the main nights for shipments so management was present instead of security, and again, no wandering.
Those days were spent wishing for Monday night so I could see his face and hear about the world outside. He started to bring me books from the library so I had something to pass the time. I learned about everything from children's stories up to the dubbed 'classics' such as "War of the Worlds" or "Tom Sawyer." He started to bring board games and we would play for hours. He would seem somewhat frustrated when I would win almost immediately after reading the rules and playing through only once.
I would teach him to dance, very much against his will but if he didn't want me to, it did not discourage him from bringing the records for me. To hear a tune other than the music box was a nice change of pace. Management was impressed as he was the first security guard to make it this long. The day time security guard seemed a tad bit irritated at the compliments Master had been receiving. Everything was running smoothly.
Until one day.
I noticed that the Toy Animatronics were starting to have momentary pauses and their words were starting to trip. I had to reset one of them almost every day. Managers started to mention someone around the computers and the possible uploading of a virus instead of an update. Supposedly the technician was new. Nothing had gone wrong inside of me though. I sat in my room, awaiting Master's arrival. Despite everything else going on, all that mattered to me was the time spent with him. As the music reached my ears, I jumped to my feet and rushed down the hall. As I approached his desk, I heard the familiar voice of one of the guards. He had left a message for my Master? Maybe it was about the incidents during the day?
Master acknowledged my presence and paused the recording. "Evening, Puppet. We can move right after I finish this, okay?" I nodded, taking a seat on the desk. He resumed playing the message.
"Ok, so uh, just to update you, uh, there's been somewhat of an, uh, investigation going on. Uh, we may end up having to close for a few days... I don't know. I want to emphasize though that it's really just a precaution. Uh, Fazbear Entertainment denies any wrongdoing. These things happen sometimes. Um... It'll all get sorted out in a few days. Just keep an eye on things and I'll keep you posted.
Uh, just as a side note though, try to avoid eye contact with any of the animatronics tonight if you can. Someone may have tampered with their facial recognition systems - we're not sure. But the characters have been acting very unusual, almost aggressive towards the staff. They interact with the kids just fine, but when they encounter an adult, they just...stare.
Uh...Anyways, hang tight. It'll all pass. Good night!"
I said nothing, unsure of what he could mean. We would be closed? How would that be possible? Master seems just as confused as I was but he could tell that I would be of little help. "Would you know anything about this?" It doesn't hurt that he asked anyway. "I only knew that the toy animatronics have been crashing a lot. I seem to be unaffected though." He smiled at my response, "Well that's what matters to me the most."
I couldn't help but smile at that response. I mattered to someone, which was nice for a change. "We should head to the safe room. I brought something new for you today."
"Something new?" I asked, as we moved quickly towards the room. "Yup. I brought us some movies to watch. Last night, I saw that a VCR was under my desk. I just hope it works." I nodded, following what he said but at the same time, wondering what sort of movie we would be watching. I shut the door tightly behind us, sliding the latch into place. He shoved a nearby monitor onto the table along with the VCR he had mentioned before. When he moved it or if he was carrying it as we walked was a mystery that I didn't need the answer for. A knob was turned and the screen was illuminated a hue of blue.
"Well at a least the power works. I have a few choices for you, all of which I am okay with." He pulled a stack of small rectangles from a side bag that I had not noticed him wearing. I took the items, examining their visual contents as well as wording. One of the tapes depicted a cartoon girl in a dress with the title "Cinderella." Placing that one on the table, I looked over a man in sunglasses with a glowing red eye: "The Terminator." It was an interesting depiction. The final option was a movie called "Ghostbusters." All of these seemed intriguing.
"Which would you like to watch first?"
It was hard to decide as I had nothing to base them on. I had never seen a movie before. The Terminator came to mind. "This one." He gave me a slight look, as if my choice caught him off guard. "I figured this one would be last but alright then." He took the tape and popped it into the VCR. I pulled my chair up next to his and readied myself for my first movie experience.
