I don't own Harry Potter

September swam into October and before anyone could seem to blink it was Halloween. "Hey you feeling okay?' Percy asked coming up beside her.

"Yeah why?"

"oh… um…" he trailed off looking around him. It's just you know…"

Ron sighed beside Percy. "He means since this is the tenth anniversary of your parents death."

"Oh wow I hadn't even thought about it." She shrugged. " never knew my parents really I mean I was hardly a year old when they died. And until recently didn't even know when they died so a day, well a day doesn't really mean anything to me."

"Well okay then." Percy watched her almost afraid she'd break down in front of him.

"So did you ever figure out what you're going to do about your parents?"

Percy sighed. I think I'll just wait until Easter it's just easier not fight everything right now and hey Christmas at Hogwarts well that's always nice."

"How would you know you've never stayed here for Christmas?" Ron scoffed.

"Well I've heard from people that have."

"Well I think we should get headed to Charms don't you two." Hermione looked pointedly at Ron and Emerson. Emmy looked at and nodded knowing she was trying to defuse the situation between the two brothers. Emmy got off the bench and waved to Percy.

"I'll see you later at the Halloween feast. He nodded as he watched her walk away. He sighed and ate another strip of bacon.

"Percy my boy how are you doing?" Percy looked up to see Albus Dumbledore looking down at him.

"I'm fine professor." He said. Getting up. "I have to get going I'll see you later professor. He still didn't trust the headmaster. Walking away he could practically feel the headmasters eyes burning into him.

"No, no," Hermione admonished Ron, you're doing it wrong." Ron rolled his eyes.

"Fine if you're so great at it you do it then."

Hermione smirked as she waved her wand like an expert and her feather floated to the ceiling. Ron slumped in his chair scowling.

"Oh Well done Miss. Granger's done it." Flitwick clapped his hands in exuberance. "Five points to Gryffindor. She smiled just as Seamus blew up the feather that Emmy and him had been practicing on.

"Professor can we please have another feather." Emmy's eyes twinkled.

"Oh my." Professor Flitwick squeaked handing over another feather. "Oh my."

"No." Emmy held the feather away from Seamus you're not going to blow this one up to."

"Oh come on you're no fun Emma."

"That is not my name." she growled out.

"Come on it's easier then Emmy please." He pleaded.

"Fine what ever" she threw her hands in the air. Not knowing that from that moment on Emma would catch on with all her school friends except for Percy who would call her Em. But then Em was a special name only for Percy and from time to time Hermione and Ron. As they gathered their things to head to their next Class Ron walked beside Emmy and Hermione.

"So I heard Seamus called you Emma can I do that too?"

Emmy scowled. "I don't know why everyone wants to do that but fine." She turned to her female best friend. "Good job on levitating the feather Mione."

"Thanks." Hermione beamed and Ron scowled.

"Oh Ron stop being such a baby. Emma looked over at him.

"Yes good job Hermione." He reluctantly said. By the time the trio slipped into their seats in the great hall for the Halloween feast. Hermione and Ron seemed to be on okay terms again.

"Please pass the potato's Emma." Ron said. Earning an odd look from Percy.

"Emma?"

"Yes it's what they're insisting on calling me." Emma sighed.

"Oh I see." Percy said taking a bit of food onto his own plate. As they all tucked into the delicious meal and talked about what had happened in their day they were all startled to hear the clang of the heavy wooden door being pushed open and the sound of running feet on the stone floor.

"Troll in the Dungun. Just thought you should no." and with that the defense against the dark art's teacher fainted on the hard cold floor. The great hall became pandemonium. People screaming people yelling people scrambling from their seats.

"Silence and sit down." Dumbledore yelled standing up at the head table. "Prefects you will lead your house to their common rooms unless you are the Hufflepuffs or the Slytherin's in which case you will stay were you are.

"Okay you three lets get going." Percy ushered the trio along with the other Gryffindors into a group and lead them towards the Gryffindor tower. Everything would have been fine except the troll was no longer in the dungon and now was actually pacing around in the very path the Gryffindor's needed to take to get to their common room. "Everyone stay calm." Percy said watching the lumbering troll.

"Calm, Ron whispered. "is he blood crazy.

"Shh Ron." Hermione hissed but just then the other Gryffindor's seemingly lead by Dean Thomas screamed and then stampeded backwards. Percy tried to stop it but was not successful as they all scattered and Hermione Ron and Emerson all looked on wide eyed.

"Crazy see." Ron pointed out.

"Ronald not helping." Percy shouted as he tried to gather the other Gryffindor's scowling at the fifth years and above who were being of no help to him. The screaming alerted the troll who turned on the Gryffindor's.

"Oh just great." Ron muttered earning a glare from the two girls. As the Troll came towards them his club raised Ron raised his wand except at that second Percy rushed in front of him.

"Percy What." Ron went around Percy and yelled the levitating spell they'd just learned. All the students watched in fascination as the club flew into the air and came down on the trolls head. The troll fell to the ground. Shaking the castle.

"Ronald Weasley." Percy snapped what were you thinking.

"Like you could have thought of something else."

"You hardly knew that spell." Hermione snapped.

"What were you going to do?" Emerson whispered looking at Percy.

"Honestly I have no idea. I just was trying to put myself between it and everyone else. He glared at the other upper years. "No thanks to them. He looked up as Professor McGonagall and Snape came racing around the corner.

"How.. What… What is the meaning of this." She demanded. She glared at Ron as the story was told.

"Mr. Weasley well I never." She sniffed. You could have been seriously hurt. She glared but then a small smile tugged at her lips. "But as it was you showed great bravery so for that ten points will be awarded to Gryffindor. Now food is waiting for you in your common rooms I suggest you all get going." She shooed them off.

Emerson on the other hand really wasn't paying attention her eyes were trained on the limp that Professor Snape had seemingly gotten somehow. As they walked the rest of the way to the tower her mind whirled. What did it all mean and how did a troll get into the castle.

A/N thanks to everyone that reviewed and please review. I had a hard time figuring out how to get the Troll involved and Ron well he was trying to prove himself. Anyway hope you enjoyed this chapter.
