The sound of crying reached Darcy's ears and she let out a groan of dismay, before rolling over to turn the bedside lamp on. Neon letters told her it was two in the morning… once upon a time she'd have already been wide awake. Thing about being a mother of three meant that sleep was a rare commodity to begin with, and a newborn led to even less snooze time. Ordinarily she would have left Bruce to take care of the little on, but he was in New York for the past week… and admittedly the house felt way too empty without him.

Her door creaked open to show the oldest Banner child, Arthur peeked in with those big brown eyes. "Mama…" She let out a long sigh, before rolling over off the bed to stand on the chilly wooden floor. "Yeah, I'm going. You crawl back into bed Mister Man." He just stood there and stared at her silently. After a pause Darcy gestured for him to hop into her bed, that earned a gleeful little grin. As Arthur scurried inside, another pair of feet followed after. Chase dragged his blankie along with him, waddling in that way only two-year-old's do. She just rolled her eyes with a tired chuckle before heading down the hall.

It wasn't til she was halfway that Darcy noticed the baby had stopped crying… Instincts went off and her feet carried her quickly to the nursery. The last thing that she expected to find was an exhausted scientist collapsed in their rocking chair. Little Ellie curled up protectively in his arms, the sight made her heart melt into a complete puddle. Darcy leaned against the door frame and watched as he rocked their baby girl back to sleep. It didn't take all that long for Ellie to conk back out, and when he stood to put her back in the crib he noticed Darcy. Bruce gave her a sheepish smile, and once the baby was tucked in he spoke quietly.

"Was trying not to wake you up." She gave him an adoring kiss on the lips. Holding him close, her head rested in the crook of his neck. While she accepted the fact that there were periods of time he had to go 'save the world'… Darcy still missed him with every passing minute. When she went to kiss him again, a small cry of "Ewwwww!" interrupted them. Arthur made a face of disgust and little Chase imitated his older brother. She just chuckled before going to chase their sons back to the master bedroom, a trail of giggles following their wake. It took all of twenty minutes for the boys to settle down, Bruce to change into PJ's, and get all cuddled together.

Under the comforter the four of them snuggled together, Arthur was curled against Bruce while Chase cuddled close to Darcy. She smiled adoringly at the sight, finger secured in their youngest sons mouth, hand-me-down Bucky Bear squeezed tight to Arthur's chest. By the time the boys were out cold, a full hour had gone past in the blink of an eye. Her fingers played gently with her youngest's hair, the black waves wrapping softly round. Without even realizing it she softly hummed a lullaby she would sing whenever the kids would have nightmares or trouble sleeping.

Without jostling Arthur, Bruce pressed his lips to her forehead affectionately. Murmuring softly, "Missed you." To which Darcy returned his gesture by catching his lips with her own. She let her free hand reach across so their fingers could intertwine, and after a moment of simple bliss she spoke in a quiet tone,

"Next time Stark kidnaps you for a week… remind me to kick his sorry ass."
