Something I wrote in a hurry, so forgive me for typos and mistakes. The Internet is not very good either.

A little story to celebrate season four.

It's beyond disconcerting. Even if he didn't hope for welcoming arms - though, he kind of did - Wade certainly didn't think she would literally slam the door on his face. Zoe seemed hell bent on getting back together, and now she's avoiding him like the plague.

He's not stalking her or anything like that but he's noticed - always from afar - that she hasn't been herself lately. Zoe's usually a bubbly and silly person who demands attention by her mere presence, and now she's hiding.

But he's upset. Mad at her. A part of him craved to have her back in his arms and finally be happy with her. Truly happy. They seemed to finally be on the same page of their story, but she decided to change it.

Wade decides to confront her one day at lunch time, except you know, he waits until she's out having lunch and AnnaBeth is the only one left at the practice.

"Do you have any idea about what's wrong with Zoe?"

She gives him a strange look, one that mixes nervousness and some sort of giddiness, but also sadness.

"I'm sorry, Wade, but I can't tell you anything." She widens her eyes as she looks pointedly at some saltines and ginger ale. "But she's not been feeling well."

"She's sick?" He asks stupidly, because she rolls her eyes at him.

"Not... exactly."

She's about to say something else when Zoe returns, looking horrified for whatever AnnaBeth was going to share with him.

"Can you just let it go?" Zoe asks when they are alone in her office, right after she drags him there to have some privacy and scold him the proper way.

He scowls before telling her, "No, not really. I just don't get why after so much effort you don't want to try! Do you know how hard it was for me to put my heart on the line again? It seems like every time I try to open up, I make myself a walking target to get hurt."

She looks a little pale, and starts breathing with some difficulty. That's right until she storms out of the room and runs to the bathroom. He follows and watches her bend over the toilet to empty her stomach and leave it as if she hadn't eaten lunch.

Wade runs a hand through her hair, pushing it back while he crouches before her.

"I'm fine," she mumbles pathetically. She stands up and mouthwashes the bad taste left after the little show she just pulled.

"You don't look so peachy, Doc. Maybe you should take a couple of days off," Wade says it because even if they have fought, he cares for her.

In response, she rolls her eyes and says a very interesting thing.

"If that's the case, I should take the next seven months off."

Zoe's eyes widen and she slaps a hand over her mouth as soon as those words are out.

He thinks for a second she's right when she calls him stupid, because it's a while before he puts two and two together and comes to the conclusion that she's not sick and that she has some right to hate him a bit.

"You're pregnant?" He breathes out and sees her nodding, but he doesn't remember much after his head hits the ground when he passes out.
