Matrimony
Hinata was re-anchored to the world by the sound of young women giggling. Everything else coming together bit by bit after the sound died away, Hinata finally realized what the day was as she was met by her reflection in a tall mirror.
"Well, Hinata?"
Looking beside her, she saw Sakura combing through her hair with her fingers beside her.
Flushing, the young woman brought her hands together and murmured, "Erm, can you repeat...that?"
Sakura laughed along with Kurenai who was sitting on the other side of Hinata with her daughter fussing in her lap. "I'd take that for a yes," her old teacher teased.
Still confused, Hinata continued to glance between the two women and her hands. Sensing her discomfort, Sakura gently patted her shoulder and repeated gently, "We just asked if you're nervous, is all."
Hinata couldn't stop herself from blurting, "I'm not!"
The two giggled with good humor, but Hinata meant it. She'd done this once, a second time should be a piece of cake, right? Or...she put a hand to her stomach that was churning like she'd be sick any moment, Or maybe not...she thought miserably.
Was this really her most favorite moment in all her life?
Hinata wasn't too sure and thought of the traveller who'd brought her here, surely her favorite time had been her first kiss with Naruto? Or, at least she'd always thought it was.
It seemed she didn't know herself as well as she thought...
A knock came for the door, looking up, Hinata saw it was her little sister. "We're ready to start," the teen said, "You?"
Attempting to stand up, Hinata stuttered, "Y-Yes!" before tripping on the hem of her outfit.
"Hinata!" Sakura yelped, barely catching her in time.
Hanabi sighed, but she was quite obviously hiding a smirk, "Calm down, Hinata, you're just marrying the love of your life."
Hinata couldn't stop herself from giving a little laugh at her sister's sarcastic remark, "Thanks, Hanabi," she smiled at the younger.
Waving off the gratitude, Hanabi said, "Let's get going, 'kay sis?"
Nodding, the small group went to meet Naruto and the rest for the wedding.
Everything progressed just as it had the first time, Naruto's eye never leaving her and she constantly blushing due to this. Sometimes, Hinata thought she'd never get over the thought of people staring at her - even if it was just her husband who did it.
Eventually, the time came for the kiss which Hinata gladly gave.
"You really are beautiful," Naruto said to her.
Touching his cheek, Hinata smiled up at him, "And you're very handsome..."
Linking arms, they then finished the ceremony and began to take pictures. As they did, Hinata was reminded where one of them would go - in a picture frame that would be surrounded by pictures of them and their children.
It was funny to think her son and daughter weren't here even though she'd seen them just this morning.
Choosing not to dwell on the fact, though, Hinata did her best to enjoy her wedding and having Naruto at her side the whole time. Work kept him away far too much these days and it was nice having right here with her.
As the day progressed on and they ate dinner, danced and took more photos, the sun began to set and Hinata could feel her time growing short. Reaching for Naruto, she took him by the hand and lead him a little ways away from all their friends and family.
"What is it, Hinata?" he asked.
Smiling at her husband, she shook her head and said, "I just want to say I love you."
His smile was blinding as the sun.
"I love you too, Hinata..."
And he bent down for one last kiss.
Moments later, she was sitting up in her kitchen, two cups of tea cold on the table.
"Mom?" Bolt called.
Looking up, she saw her son standing in the kitchen doorway with a look of confusion on his face. "It's dinner time? Why isn't there anything to eat?"
Hurrying up, Hinata went for her purse and smiled at her son, "I thought you, your sister and I could go out to eat."
Bolt grinned widely and gave a whoop. "I'lll tell sis!" he yelled as he raced off into the house.
Shaking her head, Hinata looked back to the two cups. It hadn't been a dream. There had been a stranger and she'd invited him into her home...
Where had he gone?
Situating her purse on her shoulder, Hinata decided she could keep an eye out for him while out on the town with her children.
"Kids! Let's go!" she called.
How much did you like this one? It feels a little rushed to me...
