Night & Day

Natsu loves the night.

He loves how, when the sun dips past the horizon and their shared bedroom becomes dark, he can see the reflection of stars in her eyes. Bathed in celestial light, Lucy becomes a whole new level of beautiful. There's a word for it; one he's probably only heard a handful of times in his lifetime, but it still teases the tip of his tongue. He has to pull out the thesaurus from her writing desk to find it, but when he does he knows it is right.

Ethereal.

In the darkness of night she shines so brightly that, in those moments, he is convinced she is too good, too perfect for the world they live in. When the sun comes up she will be human again, but at night, with her golden hair splayed over the sheets and her bare skin glowing in the moonlight, she is a goddess, and she is his.

Lucy loves the day.

Mornings are her favorite. She loves waking up the the feeling of his warm chest against her back, under her cheek, beneath her hand. She almost always wakes up before him, but it's something she is glad for. With the sound of morning serenading outside her window, she is able to bask in the stillness.

There is a warmth to him, one that she feels beyond just temperature. It seeps into her skin, cradles her heart. She marvels at the feel of his skin against her own, at how being wrapped up in him feels more like home than anywhere or anything she has ever known. In Natsu she finds a roof over her head to keep her dry, walls to keep her protected. A hearth to keep her warm. For Lucy, home isn't the place she leaves her shoes or hangs her coat. It isn't where she cooks her meals or lays her head to sleep.

Home isn't even a place.

Home is him.In his arms, with her ear pressed against his chest and his breath fanning over her hair. It is in his grins and in his laughter. In loving him, Lucy has found all she has ever needed.

Home.

AN: Old Nalu lovefest(I think?) prompt that I started and never did anything more with. I don't see myself expanding it, so here you go. :)
