AU: So this is just a short drabbley type of story with a little brotherly commodore time.
Also, this is dedicated to my friend with whom I had a fun thanksgiving with :) Enjoy!
The wind was cold as it whistled through the quaking evergreens and pine trees that dark, late autumn night. The forest seemed denser at night for it lay nestled under a stretch of sparkling night sky and the only sign of life was a thin trail of smoke which came from a tiny fire too small to warm one person let alone warm the two who sat in front of it.
Both a dark haired young man and a light haired young man sat shivering in the dark forest, their arms outstretched toward the fire in hopes of getting a little warmer. Finally, however, the light haired man gave up and wrapped his arms around himself instead, shivering and trying to conserve a little heat.
"Oh, it's cold!" he declared, but the dark haired young man only rolled his eyes with a grin, the cold apparently affecting him less.
"And whose idea was it to come out into the middle of nowhere with no supplies and no plan to, I quote, 'rough it in the old fashioned way'?"
Now it was the light haired man's turn to roll his eyes, another violent shiver racking his body.
"It's a good idea," he muttered, "I just figured it wouldn't be quite so cold. At least we've got this fire though, Loki!"
"The fire was my idea, I'll remind you, Thor," Loki replied. Thor just sighed and gave in to the shivers.
"Oh you are pathetic," Loki glanced at Thor, and with that he grabbed a fire poker and poked at a glowing piece of wood. Immediately the wood burst into flames and the fire expanded dramatically. The campfire seemed to grow in seconds, sending much more warmth towards the brothers, leaving Thor to sigh happily.
"Pathetic am I?" Thor finally turned to Loki. With that he reached inside his too thin coat and grabbed some food, to which Loki licked his lips subconsciously. Loki turned out his own pockets to find nothing, so he turned to Thor.
"Alright, give me some food," he told his brother.
"No, no that's alright. I think I'm too pathetic to share food with the likes of you," Thor's eyes twinkled. Loki simply sighed and made a grab for the food, yet Thor quickly pulled it out of reach.
"So," his laugh rumbled. "Who remembered to bring the nourishment? Who is pathetic now?"
"Let's call it draw and share the food," Loki replied, to which Thor laughed again and tossed some at his brother.
Then the two began to heat the food over the fire, no longer shivering under the twinkling night sky. It was silent for several minutes, until Thor finally spoke once again.
"You know," he said. "Together we make a pretty good team."
Loki didn't reply verbally; instead he simply shot a tiny smile at Thor before he returned to cooking his food. The two brothers now sat in affable silence, but every once in a great while a smile or laugh would be shared between them as they sat in front of the campfire that cold November night.
