A super short Cade one shot. Basically, I have a lot of feelings about soulmates.

"Do you believe in soulmates, Jadey?"

"No." Jade answered, not taking her eyes off of the script in front of her.

"What do you mean no?" In all honesty, Cat didn't really expect any other answer from her.

"I mean no." She glanced up at the redhead. "I believe you meet people that you fall in love with, and that's that. There's no such thing as fate, destiny, or any of that other weird spiritual crap."

"So you and Beck weren't meant to be?"

"Nope. We just got lucky." She faked a tight smile.

Cat pouted. "Oh. Well I think you and I are soulmates." Because Cat and Jade were soulmates. Whether they were together romantically or platonically (Cat would have preferred the former, but she'll stick to the much more realistic latter), there was no doubt in Cat's mind that Jade and herself were meant to be. They just sort of ― made sense.

"What?" Jade stared at Cat with widened eyes.

Her brows slightly furrowed in confusion. "What?"

"We're not soulmates, Cat. We're just friends."

"Yes we are!" Cat protested. "A soulmate isn't just someone you like to kiss and do… other stuff with. A soulmate can be a friend. You're my best friend in the whole world, and I'm positive that our friendship was meant to be. Don't you get that feeling too?"

Jade was surprised about how seriously Cat took this subject matter, and also secretly flattered. "I don't know, Cat. Maybe we just got lucky too." She rolled her eyes (in an endearing way, of course).

"Well whether we're soulmates or just lucky, I'm glad we're best friends." Cat beamed with pleasure.

"Okay, okay, let's not get all sappy now. You know I hate human emotion." She half-joked. Jade wouldn't admit it out loud, but she was glad they were best friends too.
