As the month of October rolled around, All Hallows Eve was in the air and the Addams' were getting ready for their favorite time of the year. Halloween was always the most fun because for the whole month, instead of getting looked at like weird people and made fun of, they were praised for their 'Gothic look' and often smiled at. Although Wednesday didn't care either way of the frivolities of normal people, Joel seemed to appreciate the change in attitude for the month and Wednesday enjoyed the effects of his libido during this time.
Even though her mother had told her stipulations to Amanda, October still hadn't seen Bradley since he was cured. She was a little saddened that he had left her again, lying to her in the alley, but she was okay with that. She would have rather he liked her for being an Addams and if he couldn't conform to that, then as her uncle had stated there were plenty of bodies in the cemetery.
As Wednesday finished another chapter for her new novel, a text came across her phone and she opened it. She frowned at the message but clicked on it.
Mrs. Addams, I've wracked my brain on trying to figure out what would satisfy you in regards to the stipulation you set out for me. These past months I've gone through every possible scenario and all of them seem to either kill me or maim me for life. So, I decided to do something that will very much cause me pain but I think the point will be crossed. I've attached a video recording of it. Please accept this as my gateway to your daughter.
Wednesday waited for a moment as her phone downloaded a video coming through. Once it was downloaded, she clicked on it and Bradley moved the camera. He looked drunk and he smiled into the screen.
"M-Mrs. Addams. I'm gonna prove to you my love for- for October. You didn't say I had to do this s-s-sober, so here it goes!" he said into the camera.
Wednesday blinked a little and watched as Bradley showed her a small pile of broken glass. She lifted an eyebrow when he counted down to one and jumped onto them. He howled in pain as he stomped on it with bare feet, blood pooling from his soles. He then sat down, moaning in agony. He picked out some shards and then showed a large bottle of medical grade alcohol and he poured it into the bathtub. Once the bottle was empty, he moved his legs over the tub and stuck his feet into the small pool. He screamed in pain and the phone was trembling with pain as he pulled it to his face.
"I told you I would endure a thousand paper cuts and jump into a pool of alcohol for October. Paper cuts are hard to come by so I had to use glass. I know it wasn't all over my body, but please… please let me be with your daughter. I think I have to go to the hospital now but… please consider it."
The camera turned off and Wednesday made a face at it.
"The boy is a lunatic." She said with a small smirk. "I liked the glass better anyway." She looked up at the ceiling. "I accept your proposal, Bradley Buckman-Smythe."
Amanda helped Bradley put his feet into the hot water that was laden with healing oils and herbs and he sighed in relief.
"I can't believe you did that, young man."
"I can't either. I was drunk… I hope it gets the point across though…" he grumbled.
"If Wednesday doesn't accept that then you should just forget about October and move on to someone safer."
Bradley laughed. "Yeah… Mom?"
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"I don't really think I could ever be with anyone other than October… What happened to me changed me and being with other girls now is just… boring. Everything about normal life seems boring now. I just want something to be normal again."
The door opened in the bathroom and Matthew walked in with a small package.
"This just came to you from the Addams' residence."
Bradley grabbed the package and opened it up. Inside was a black rose and a small pouch as well as a card. Amanda opened the card.
"'Hail,
I received your video and I accept. As a token of what you would call 'good will', I asked my mother to prepare a powder for your feet so that you will be well enough to attend our All Hallows Eve Ball. I have sent you a black rose that you must wear in attendance. I have decided to surprise October. I trust you will be ready for this.
Regards,
Wednesday'"
"Well, that's good news, right?"
"Yes." Bradley said with a sigh as he leaned against his mother. "Finally."
"And how nice, she sent a powder for your feet." Amanda rummaged in the small box, finding a card. "Ah, so it says put in water and let them soak."
"When's the party?"
"All Hallows Even, Dad. It's on Halloween."
"What are you going to dress up as?"
Bradley thought for a moment and then grinned. "I think I have it."
The day of the ball came and all Addams' from all over the psychiatric network showed up at the house. All were greeted and Wednesday walked over to October, who was dressed in a long sparkly black dress with a large frilled neck and plunging neckline.
"How are you faring?"
"I'm alright… This is quite odd for All Hallows Eve though, Mother. Usually don't we just play 'wake the dead' or something?"
"Your father and I thought it would be nice to do something out of the ordinary. After all, it is what we do best."
The doorbell rang again and Thing pulled at Wednesday's dress and signed that it was who she was waiting for. She nodded and went to get the door herself. Joel beat her to it and they both looked at Amanda and Matthew, who were dressed as a candy striper and a doctor.
"Charming." Wednesday said.
"There was supposed to be blood but Bradley's still getting a little over things that are thick and red and goopy and so we decided not to." Matt said with a shrug.
"We told him to come after us. I thought maybe October would like to see him first?" Amanda said.
Joel nodded and Wednesday closed the door. She walked back over to her daughter and told her to go and answer the door. October was confused, since she didn't hear the doorbell ring, when it went off. She was still confused and opened the door. She gasped at Bradley being there.
"Bradley…"
"That's a… very revealing dress. Who are you supposed to be?"
"It's from Legend… where's your costume?"
"This is my costume. I'm a sophisticated homicidal maniac; they look like everyone else."
October smiled as he pointed to his collar.
"Your mother sent this and said I was to wear it. I thought I'd dress up for the occasion to match it. But I brought this just in case."
He held out a black rose to her and she took it, smelling it.
"It smells ghastly."
"Good." He stepped inside and closed the door behind him. "I've missed you a lot, October. I wanted to apologize for what happened in the alley."
"No need."
"I meant because I didn't get to kiss you the right way. If you'd allow me to, I'd like to redo that night."
"Only if you have the same lust for flesh as you did then." She said with a sultry look to him.
Bradley grabbed her and pulled her to him, giving her a growl.
"Cara mia…"
"Mon cher."
He kissed her with all the passions in the world.
Joel smiled at them as Matt held up a smoking blue drink.
"To youth."
"Don't drink that."
"Yup." He said, putting the drink on another tray.
"Come on, I'll take you to the real liquor."
"Lead the way, Glicker."
Wednesday and Amanda watched from the food table and Amanda ate some hors d'oeuvres.
"Finally together at last… By the way, these finger shaped pigs in a blanket things are to die for."
"They aren't finger 'shaped'; they're just fingers." Wednesday said.
Amanda spit it out and Wednesday smirked at her.
Bradley finally finished kissing October and she put her arms around his neck.
"If I adored you to the point of death, what would you do?"
"Pity you."
"And if I loved you more than anything in this world?"
"Prove it."
"How?"
October grinned, her black lipstick contrasting with her white teeth.
"Do you fear death, Bradley Buckman-Smythe?"
