It Is What It Is

HOLY SHIT!

It's been like months since I've updated this story, sorry guys, it's just that writing NaruSaku is getting harder for me and the lack of motivation and inspiration doesn't help at all.

Also, I will warn you about this story, it will feel rushed because ya know, I just want to get this done with. But I will try to make it everything proper so it doesn't look like I shitted everything out.

This alongside the next few chapters will feel a bit angsty because Naruto and Sakura are still working out their feelings to one another.

ENJOY!

When Sakura had received the news that Naruto was back, she was both ecstatic and nervous at the same time. She was happy that he was back, but she was still a bit unsure of her feelings for him. Sometimes she would think about if she deserved him or not, or if these feelings for the blond were nothing but hero worship.

Sakura shook her head.

No

She knew these feelings were true.

Getting up from her bed, she got ready to head over the Hokage Tower to hopefully catch her blond teammate there.

"So I assume everything was fine in Suna," Kakashi asked his former student.

Naruto nodded, "Yeah, I hope."

"Hope?"

"I mean, it was a nice change in scenery, but sometimes I find myself doubting myself about everything."

The sixth Hokage frowned at this, "Well, I hope you straighten things out with her someday."

Naruto nodded and walked out of Kakashi's office, as he was making his way down the halls, he bumped into someone.

"Sorry," his blue eyes widened at the familiar voice. His own eyes met with Sakura's, "Naruto!"

Silence was the only thing between the two. Naruto felt his heart pounding against his ribcage, and Sakura felt the same.

"Sa-Sakura-chan, hi!"

"Welcome back," she smiled at him, which caused the young man to blush, "how was Suna?"

"It was fine."

"Just fine?"

Naruto nodded, "Hey, how about we go get some ramen?"

Sakura shook her head and laughed, "Sure why not."

The two ended up laughing as Sakura told Naruto about her training amongst their friends.

The blond wiped a tear from his eye, "I can't believe you made Kiba piss in his pants."

"Well it wasn't my fault he wasn't paying attention to my punches," the rosette giggled.

As the two calmed down, Sakura couldn't help but smile at her blond teammate.

"You Naruto, I really missed you."

He blushed at this, "Aw Sakura-chan, I missed you too."

After Naruto had paid for their food, the two friends took a stroll through the park. They smiled as they continued on to enjoy each other's company, what Naruto didn't expect was Sakura holding onto his hand and resting her head on his shoulder.

"Sa-Sakura-chan? What are you doing?"

She giggled at his reaction, "I'm cuddling."

"But why?"

"Don't you see you idiot, I like you."

Naruto stopped and looked at her, "I told you Sakura-chan, I hate people who lie to themselves."

Sakura stood in front of him and glared at him, "I'm not lying Naruto, I'm being serious!"

"No you're not! You don't like me, you like Sasuke!"

The rosette rolled her eyes, "Why can't you understand Naruto. My feelings for Sasuke were nothing but a childish crush. It's you that I love."

Naruto's eyes widened, he wanted to believe her, but for some strange reason, he still doubted himself and her.

"I don't believe you," he answered back, "what makes you think that you only reason why you like is, is because I'm a hero."

Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose. "You're an idiot! I've had these feelings before! Right after you came back, I've always loved you Naruto, why did you think I confessed to you at the Land of Iron?"

"BULLSHIT! YOU'VE NEVER LOVED ME! YOU ALWAYS THOUGHT OF ME AS SOME STUPID IDIOT! A SECOND PLACE TROPHY!"

SMACK!

Naruto's eyes widened as Sakura smacked him. He could see the tears forming in her eyes.

"How dare you…HOW DARE YOU!" Her body shook in anger. "How dare you think that I thought of you as the silver medal? That you were nothing but second place. Sure I might have thought of you as an idiot when we were younger and still do, but I never thought of you as some sort of prize. You're my friend Naruto and I began to see you as more than that. But to think that I only thought of you as a silver medal, that's bull Naruto. You don't know me!"

"Sakura-chan, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say those things."

"Thoughts like those make me seem like a bitch," she was trying so hard not to cry, "I knew that I was a bitch to you when we were younger. But I grew up Naruto, I began to see you in a different light. And to think that you think of me as some bitch, hurts."

The blond felt like an idiot at the moment. "Sakura-chan, please, you aren't a bitch, I'm sorry."

"Forget it Naruto, don't talk to me anymore," with that Sakura ran back to her apartment.

Standing there, Naruto shouted and punched a tree.

"I'm a fucking idiot," he whispered under his breath.

He thought that he had everything sorted out, but why did he still doubt Sakura's feelings for him? Was it because he was still stuck on the past? The blond debated whether or not to chase after Sakura, but decided not to, allowing the rosette some time to cool off, especially between them.

Kakashi hummed quietly as he was enjoying his book. After a day filled of signing documents and reports, the sixth Hokage wanted nothing more to do than relax. Though too bad he wasn't expecting a visitor, opening the door, he was surprised.

"Naruto? What brings you here?"

"I messed up," the blond rubbed his arm up and down.

The silver haired Hokage nodded and allowed his former student into his apartment.

"I'm guessing that your reunion with Sakura didn't go to well?"

Naruto sighed as he took a seat on the couch, while Kakashi took the single seated armchair across from him.

"I fucked up real bad," the blond looked down, "I said some things that I shouldn't have."

"Such as?"

"I indirectly told her she was a selfish person." Naruto refrained from using the other word.

Kakashi looked at his former pupil carefully. "You know Naruto, you remind me of an old friend of mine." The blond looked up and tilted his head. "When I was 13, I was under your father's team, Team 7. You see my old friend Obito was an Uchiha, just like Sasuke, but the thing is I was more like Sasuke while Obito was more like you. But Obito had a crush on our teammate Rin, who had a crush on me. We were basically like you guys. Though it was during the third shinobi war that Obito ended up sacrificing himself for me and Rin, and he's the reason why I had the Sharingan." The silver haired Hokage took a deep sigh before continuing. "Though Obito never got to confess to Rin before his death, and Rin ended up blaming me for Obito's death. Naruto when I see you and Sakura, I see Obito and Rin. You guys are so much alike, that it's scary. I don't want either of you two going through what Rin and Obito had to go through."

"So you're telling me that I should stop doubting myself and Sakura's feelings?"

Kakashi nodded, "Naruto, Sakura cares for you very deeply. You mean a lot more to her than Sasuke ever did. You're the main reason why she changed. I don't want you two to live a life of regret and become miserable throughout your entire life."

The blond nodded, "Yeah, your right, tomorrow I'll go talk to Sakura-chan."

Kakashi smiled through his mask, "Just make you sure you also apologize to her, knowing Sakura, she'll end up apologizing as well."
