Hey guys! This chapter actually didn't end at the part where I was expecting it to, so I've decided to break it apart since I'm trying to keep the updates coming weekly. By the way, just a note for you readers that there'll be a revolting part in this chapter that I personally have some difficulty in writing due to how disgusting it was, so read with care. Anyways, enjoy.

Chapter 5

History

(2)

The sun began to ascend from the giant, snowcapped mountains, rising towards the beautiful sky and perishing the darkness that once dominated the land while bathing the green woodlands in its luminous and warm sunlight. Adorable and beautiful creatures that were slumbering in their comforting home began to regain consciousness and prepared themselves to attack the new challenges of the day. Flowers of different kinds began to bloom with beauty as the rays of light granted them life and allowing the newborn plants to grow in replacement of the old dead ones. The blue sky was populated with puffy and fluffy clouds that calmly drifted towards the direction of the cool morning wind, indicating that it will be a perfect weather for nature to carry out its daily rituals with no inconvenience whatsoever.

It has been two days since Benjamin left his pack territory, and although it was rough for him to get used to the sense of being alone in the wilderness with no support from anyone and danger lurking around every corner, he was pleased to find himself gradually getting used to it. During the day of his leave, he had been persistently heading forward without changing directions unless he encountered a terrain or an untraversable path, and he could still recognize the environment he had passed by on the current day. He had seen a few lone wolves on his travel, but unfortunately, they weren't the kind type of wolves as they growled and snapped when he tried to approach them and explain to them about his quest. Shockingly, one of the lone wolves he passed by shadowed him from afar, albeit it wasn't sneaky at all since he could hear crunches of leaves on the ground and snapping of twigs every few minutes, and it didn't take long for him to notice the stalker and think of a plan to escape from him.

He scanned his surroundings while trotting along to avoid hinting his predator of his realization, hoping to find an area that was dense with shrubs and trees in order to lose him from there. Miraculously, his eyes caught sight of a region on his left that was filled with thick bushes and large trees, and his face lit up in relief. With his goal in mind, he began to put his plan in action as he slowly turned his direction towards that region and hoping that his stalker would not follow him. Upon entering the thick woodland, he immediately began to search for a place to hide, and heard droplets of water landing in a puddle. He traced the source of the sound back to its origin, and pushed two very thick shrubs to find a small cave where a small-sized puddle formed in it, and it can only fit one wolf of his size by crawling on all fours into it. He gave a quick scan of the cave to ensure that there was nothing else dangerous living in it like snakes or giant lizards before hearing the rustling of bushes from afar and hurriedly crawled backwards into it.

He placed his belongings in front of him to serve as protection in case his stalker tried to claw at him when discovered, but thankfully, the two shrubs before was thick and large enough to conceal the cave, and with his tail covering the protruding earth from the ceiling where the droplets of water came from, it was practically impossible to spot his location. With fear in his heart, he listened carefully as the rustling of bushes occurred from left and right, but they were never close to his position at all. However, the tension in the air around him was undeniable, and he couldn't stop his body from trembling in fright. Worst of all, his mind was subconsciously painting pictures of the gruesome intentions that this stalker might carry out on him, ranging from endless torture to traumatic rape and murder, and it was heightening his fear tremendously.

The sound of swishing leaves continued for a few minutes, his heart skipping a few beats whenever it got slightly closer to him and his paws sweating profusely in nervousness, before it grows distant and disappeared from where he entered the area. Upon hearing it, he let loose a deep breath that he had held in for a while as he felt his muscles relaxed and his mind lighten from the burden of fear that had accumulated, feeling at ease from the terror that he had managed to escape. However, just when he was about to move his belongings out of the way for him to leave, a thought struck him like a brick wall and stoned him into place.

Wait… what if this wolf is still out there, patiently waiting for me to leave my spot so he or she can pounce at me? He thought, and tension befell onto his body. However, another thought clashed with this.

But… what if that wolf went to get his or her companion to come over and look for me? Should I try to make a run for it now?

He placed a paw underneath his chin as he thought skeptically on his next action, knowing that his fate was depending on it. After a short while, he made the fateful decision to stay in this small cave and wait out for a while longer, possibly until dusk. In his perspective, if he leaves his hiding spot and makes a run for it, he would be visible to his stalker due to the sun's luminous light and he will be immediately spotted, which led to his final decision. Alas, he waited patiently for time to pass, whilst planning his journey when he leaves this uncomfortable cave. He made a brief check on his supplies and rations to ensure that he had enough to go on, even though he didn't use any of them on his journey so far, and found it to be sufficient enough. Since he had nothing to do but wait for nightfall, he pulled out a few pieces of rabbit meat from his ration satchel and began to feast on them before taking a short sleep in preparation for his upcoming escape.

When he regained consciousness, he was surprised to find that there was not a single daylight to be seen before him as he calmly moved his belongings aside and pushed the two shrubs that was covering his secret cave apart, and realized that he had woke up at the right time. In order for him to get a more accurate reading of the time, he looked up towards the sky and noticed that it was completely pitch black, indicating that it will take a long while before dawn occurs. With his questions answered, he gently let the two shrubs fall back to its original position and moved his belongings back to where it initially was, and began to contemplate on his next step.

If I stick to the shadows and try to move as fast as I can with care, he or she probably won't see me. After all, it's currently night time, and he or she should be asleep by now. Lone wolves aren't awake at night… are they? He thought nervously, having no knowledge of what lone wolves would do at nights such as this, and a thought struck him with fear.

Wait… what if he or she has returned when I was asleep? He or she might be here by now, just waiting for me to come out of my refuge after having enough rest this afternoon. Plus, there are nocturnal creatures up and awake at this time, lurking about for food. He planted his paw onto his face upon realizing his mistake of taking a nap in the afternoon when he was suppose keep watch throughout the entire time.

He felt his mind began to panic as fears flooded his head with images of creatures that inhabit the time of dusk, some created by his imaginations that terrified him even more as he rarely leave his den in the middle of the night back at the pack territory. He could feel his eyes exerting much more effort focusing on the shrubs before him for any sudden movements, his muscles tensing without rest, his heart beating at a faster rate, his breathing rate raised with no point of decreasing, and his paws sweating profusely in nervousness. He was about to lose himself at that point, and any random sound or movement would freak him out instantly without fail. Sensing the effects of fear that was affecting his mental and physical state, he closed his eyes and placed his front paw on top of another and began to empty his mind of any negativity or petrifying thoughts as it was the only way of saving himself from going insane. With his mind clear of all worries, he pulled out the happy memories of his past to soothe himself, such as the time when he went swimming with his parents as a pup, and he remembered that feeling like it was yesterday, extremely care-free and completely safe under their protection, and it brought a smile to his face. He also remembered the time when he first enrolled into alpha school, and how proud his parents was when he became the best student among all in the academy, before the education system went downhill.

The best memory among all was the time when he hunted his first Caribou during his teenage years, which was the time before the Caribou herd was relocated, and his parents were there to witness it. During that time, it was family day and every wolf in the pack was doing something special for their families. The wolves that were alone were allowed to join their friends' families and celebrate together, despite the difference in blood. On that day, he decided to hunt a Caribou for his family on his own, and so, he brought his parents along with his grandparents to the hunting grounds and waited for them to settle down before informing them of his intentions. Their faces lit up in joy upon hearing his plan and fully supported him without second thoughts, and it gave him a greater sense of courage. He gave his family a smile before entering the tall grass and began to approach a clueless Caribou that was stranded from the herd, his eyes fixated on its every movement. He halted when he was in close proximity and waited for the moment to strike, and the instant when the prey's head turned away from him, he pounced at it in a flash without hesitation, aiming for its neck. Amazingly, he successfully clamped his mouth onto his target and the prey jolted in fright, completely caught off-guard by his attack. With his teeth sunken into the prey's neck, he swung powerfully towards the side and forcefully tugged it, creating a loud snap as the trachea of the prey broke, and the prey collapsed without any sign of life. He slowly released his grip from his prize and panted heavily as his finishing move took up much of his strength, but it was undeniably worth it.

His family then approached him while beaming with pride of their heir's astounding skills and unbelievable strength, and congratulated him blissfully on his first hunt, which he received thankfully with an uncontrollable smile. After awarding him their praises, they began to help him drag his prize out of the grasses and set it down in a small clearing away from the Caribou herd, and started feasting on their meal. As they munched on the delicious and juicy flesh of the carcass, they discussed on the state of the pack and how it can be improved, and he enlightened them with the thought of educating the pack on the practice of sharing rations with each other without the rule of the hunter having the first bite. They contemplated the idea for a moment, with him fidgeting his paws as he was afraid of being scolded for suggesting such a strange idea, before approving it and this surprised him greatly. However, they told him that he should apply this practice when he becomes the new leader of the pack and earn the trust of each pack mates, since his parents were the head of the pack during that time. With their approval, he smiled joyfully and agreed before moving onto a different subject and chewing on the tender meat before him.

After going through those precious memories, he felt his mind was finally at ease and he could think clearly again, his muscles loosened and his breathing rate returned to its set point. With this sense of peace and relief, he had gained a greater appreciation for his family and treasured the moments he had spent with his family much more than before, and it gave him the thought of spending more time with his family once he returns to create more memorable moments such as those. Feeling relaxed and confident, he began to contemplate on his next act, and it took him a few minutes before coming to the conclusion of staying in his current den until the remaining few minutes before the break of dawn.

The nocturnal creatures would return to their den for slumber during that time, so I'd be safe from them. As for this stalker… I'll just have to hope for the best. He thought carefully upon his decision, and it seemed the most logical choice to him.

Hence, with his goal in mind, he began to wait patiently for the time to pass, and it was undeniably the longest night of his life as he could feel each and every second passing on that night, and having nothing to do at all except keeping watch makes it much longer than it should be. He noticed that his tail was completely drenched at that point, since he had kept it there the entire time since he entered the cave in order to not reveal his location to the foreign creatures out there, and has no choice but to maintain it there until he leaves. As he focused his gaze on the shrubs before him, his mind drifted off into wonder of how his pack was currently doing in his absence, especially his parents, and he hoped that they will be able to bear the suffering for a little longer until he returns. Thankfully, based on how they had hopefully blessed him and listened to him with sincerity and bliss, he was sure that they were willing to do their best to aid each other whilst waiting for his return, and this gave him a newfound strength to press on which deepened his determination of searching for help.

He couldn't sleep at that point as he feared of oversleeping and missing his golden opportunity of escape, so he decided to take a few laps of water from the puddle behind him, which was inconvenient and discouraging as he had to shuffle his body around in order to do so due to the small size of the cave and had to turn back to the front, before resting his head on his paws for a short rest whilst keeping his ears perked the entire time in case anything approaches whilst occasionally checking the sky for any sign of daylight.

Finally, after waiting for what felt like an eternity, He made the occasional check on the sky and noticed that one side of it was starting to slightly light up, hinting that the sun will be rising soon. Feeling completely energized and unexpectedly excited to leave his spot, he hurriedly shuffled around to take a few last gulps of water before turning back and placed his belongings on his back. He then cautiously pushed the two shrubs apart and glanced around him carefully in case any creature slumbers nearby, and was relieved to find none close to him at all, especially his stalker. He gave his shelter one last look in case he left anything behind, which was none, before silently walking out into the shadows of the trees, trying his best to make as less rustling of leaves as possible when he squeezes past the bushes. With his nervousness eased, he began to travel in the direction where he had left off, sticking to the shadows whenever he has the chance, and that was the beginning of his first day of living in the open world.

The ray of light that once occupied a small portion of the sky was now covering the entire sky, perishing the dark and illuminating the green land as the sun rises towards the beautiful blue sky. Benjamin had covered much more distance from his panic shelter on that day, and fortunately, there was no sign of the stalker as he trotted along, which relieved his heart and mind tremendously. He didn't come across any lone wolves on that day, which was fortunate for him since he needed a break from what he had to deal with just recently, and amazingly, he started to realize the beauty of nature that was surrounding him the entire time. Cheerful birds were singing beautiful and harmonious melodies from treetops, gorgeous flowers filled the air with its sweet nectar scent, and a gentle breeze blew towards him that was extremely soothing, and it gave him a sense of currently being on a paradise land. Since then, he had gained a higher respect and charm for nature. At the end of that day, before twilight sets in, he was able to find a hole underneath a large tree with no sign of inhabitants in it, and settled in for the night.

On the second day, he woke up feeling very energized after having a great slumber as he had no trouble falling asleep in the previous night due to exhaustion, and pressed on on his journey. As he travelled along, he came across quite a large number of lone wolves again that lived pretty close to each other, but shockingly, they were all unbelievably friendly. They greeted him with respect and a bright smile when he approached them nervously, and they helped him feel like he was at home, which he was very appreciative and thankful. Some of the lone wolves were brothers and sisters, some were mates, and some lived alone. When he brought up the question of how were they lone wolves, some responded with preferring the ideal life of living alone or with their mate, some ran away from their awful and torturous pack, and others were exile for reasons that they'd prefer not to talk about. However, when he briefed them on his pack's crisis and needed heavy assistance, he was amazed to find that they all directed him towards one location, which was up ahead in the direction he had been travelling and he will find a large cave beneath a hill, though the journey distance is quite far from his current location. They told him that an old male wolf lives there who was once in a pack, but ran away with his daughter who was the same age as Benjamin and took shelter in that cave, and they all were not disclosed to the reason why at all. However, he had trained all of them on combat skills, strategies, and the morals of life, and they were all grateful for it.

Upon hearing such remarkable and unbelievable information, he thanked each of them profusely in extreme joy, with them understanding the reasons that led to it, and they all gave him their blessings before he left hurriedly in search for this astounding mentor. He had never been so happy in his entire life at that moment as he felt his prayers were answered and his quest was about to be completed, knowing that this mentor will definitely help him in solving his pack's crisis and restore the pack to its former glory, or even higher than that. He was so excited in that moment that he was practically running throughout most of the journey without slowing down, unwilling to let any second go to waste. He wasn't very sure at first when they told him about it, but based on how friendly and sincere they were, he was willing to believe them and not let this chance go to waste. Sadly, when the moon began to rise after the sun disappeared behind the giant mountains, the realization began to set in that his current destination was very far from what he had expected, and the soreness of his muscles and the lack of energy was starting to take effect.

Feeling a little disappointed, he searched around his surroundings for a place to settle in, and to his surprise, there was nowhere comfortable to sleep in. Hence, he did the most unthinkable and surprising act that he himself wasn't expecting to be done, and that was to climb a nearby tall tree and slumber on a trunk that has enough surface area for him and his belongings to occupy on, and he knew that this was going to be a story that his family will never fail bring up in family gatherings. Without any second thoughts, he placed his plan into motion and began searching for a tree with the largest trunk. Upon finding the ideal tree as his temporary shelter, he began to climb up by sinking his claws deep into the thick bark of the tree, and although the weight of his belongings was dragging him down and proved to be an inconvenience, he managed to reach the top within a few seconds, but not without draining the remaining strength within him. He then set his belongings aside and laid his belly flat on the bark before losing consciousness in exhaustion, and this led to the third day of living in the world that he had yet to fully discover.

As the rays of luminous light from the scorching sun shone on the bright green tree that Benjamin was slumbering on, he was safe from its attack as the thick layers of canopy of the tree formed a large shadow that provided shade for anything beneath it, including him, and he was able to continue sailing through his dreams of returning back to his pack with greater knowledge and strength. However, just when his dream reached the part of receiving cheers from his fellow pack mates, he was rudely disturbed when he felt a small and hard object knocking his forehead repetitively. He slowly regained consciousness and blinked a few times for the blurriness in his eyes to subside, and was surprised to find a squirrel standing before him with an annoyed expression, with an acorn clamped in its armpit and its left hand placed on its hips, and it was tapping its foot on the trunk impatiently.

He sleepily lifted his head and blinked a few more times, completely dumbfounded by the creature before him and how it was behaving, before receiving a slap on his nose by the small furry critter, proving to him that what he was witnessing was actually real and not from a dream at all. He pushed himself up by his front paws and asked what was wrong, which the rodent responded by pointing at his gear, and he moved it away from the bark of the tree to reveal a hole, and he realized that he had blocked this furry creature's home out the entire night without realizing. In his defense, he was extremely tired during the previous night, and he couldn't care less about other stuff when he's exhausted. Plus, he couldn't see the hole due to the dark shade that the shadow of the tree enveloped him in.

He turned his attention back to the critter and apologized sincerely, realizing that he had made it sleep elsewhere that was cold and uncomfortable in the previous night instead of its warm and cozy home, and gave it a piece of rabbit meat from his satchel as compensation for his mistake. He then watched as the critter snatched the offering from his hand and began grumpily trotting up his nose, and he could feel every single step it made due to how hard it was stomping on him as it walked from his muzzle to his tail, and climbed over the satchels that were blocking its way before entering the comfy home it had longed for since last night. After watching the most unbelievable show of his life, he cleaned his face and gnawed on a few rations before putting his backpack on and slowly climbed down the tree, and continued onwards towards his destination.

During his travel, he didn't encounter any lone wolves, which was quite a shame for him as he was eager to know how much further does he need to travel in order to reach the den of the old wise wolf, that is if they're his students, and was blissfully enjoying the songs of birds that flew above him with the calm wind blowing against him. He also took the chance of examining a small waterfall that he had come across when he heard the pouring of water with his highly receptive ears, and took several gulps of refreshing water from its pool before pressing on. After long hours or travelling, the moon began to arise towards the glittering night sky after the descent of the scorching sun, enshrouding the peaceful land from the bountiful light that once dominated the land and allowing the darkness to descend, with only the gentle pure moonlight bathing the land instead. He had found a small hole beneath an old tree, where he had to dig out some dirt in there due to how cramped the space was, and decided to take a rest in his temporary den from the large distance he had covered exhaustingly since his destination was nowhere to be seen yet.

In the middle of his rest, he found himself thirsty for water, and questioned the thought of leaving his den and head towards a nearby pond he had caught sight of earlier. It had been a very long time since his last exit from his den at night, which was back at the pack territory in search for water, and he had never encountered any creature during that night, but however, this situation was completely different. He was about to leave his den in a place that he was a complete stranger to and head towards an area where nocturnal predators might lurk about, and this thought sent his fur standing upright. Unexpectedly, he was able to convince to brave out and fulfill what his body was craving for after a few minutes of worrying and self-doubt. It had been several hours since he drank the cold water from the waterfall, and the afternoon heat made him sweat too much. He should've taken a break from the heat by resting beneath the shade of a nearby tree, but he trotted on instead as he didn't want to waste any more precious time that his pack had given him.

Come on, Ben. It's just several meters away from here. It can't be that bad. After all, if anything happens, you can always run back here and hide from whatever's chasing after you and it can't catch you… He thought as he began to get onto his four paws and let out a deep breath. …as long as you're fast and slippery enough.

After gathering his wits and courage together, he poked his head out of his den and scanned the surroundings before him carefully for any signs of nocturnal creatures or unusual movements, and upon concluding that the coast was clear, he began to set foot out of his safe haven and walked silently towards the pond in the fastest pace he could go. He soon arrived at a small clearing with the pond at the centre, and as he approached closer towards the still water, his eyes slowly widened in shock as he spotted a large brown bear slumbering a few metres away from the other side of the pond, and he was scared to the point where he almost peed himself. Sensing that his mind was starting to panic, he sat down and placed a paw on his chest while taking in deep breaths, with his eyes glued to the large monstrosity in case it notices his presence. Thankfully, it didn't and he was able to pull himself back together for a few deep gulps of fresh water that were extremely satisfying to his parched throat. With his goal completed, he turned around and started to walk back to his den silently, and his senses rang wildly like an alarm, alerting him that something- or someone- was about to land on him. Instinctively, he leaped out of the way and turned around to find an oddly charming female wolf with light brown pelt and dark brown eyes landing on where he initially was, and it raised a red flag as one question shot up in his mind.

Why is a she-wolf like her doing here, in the middle of the night? He thought as he maintained his distance away from her. As a better question, why did she try to attack me?

Knowing that his doubts have to be answered, he asked the she-wolf for the reason why she tried to jump on him in a soft tone, bearing in mind that the bear was not far from where they are. She curled a bundle of her fur from her mane and giggled playfully before replying that she was just fooling around with him, and thought pouncing at him would be a proper greeting. As he listened to her reasoning, a smell struck his nose like a speeding car, and it was the most god-awful stench he had ever smelt. It was like a pile of decaying corpses being smothered in urine and faeces, and it was kept that way for years. However, what was shocking to him was that the source of this deadly stench was from the she-wolf before him, and yet he couldn't pinpoint it based on how clean her appearance was. While he was caught up in the disturbing smell, she announced that she was parched and turned towards the pond with her behind facing at him, and his expression changed from doubt to disgust when he finally unraveled the mystery of this revolting stench. There was a sticky and slimy fluid around the outer walls of her womanhood, and a few drops of it were discharging from her womanhood and landing on the innocent green grass. The stench was much stronger at that moment, which proved his observations to be true, and he was trying his best to not puke at the sight before him.

After taking a few laps of water, she turned around and noticed his disgusted look, and knew in an instant that he had seen her womanhood, which led her to do something that would scar his memory forever. She lay down on her back and explained to him in a charming tone that she didn't have the time to clean herself up as he had been moving faster than expected, and plus, her mate had been busy having sexual intercourse with her for the entire duration from him settling down for the night to him leaving for his destination, and without warning, she started to lick off the filthy discharge from her womanhood like it was just water. Upon witnessing the horror before him, he couldn't hold back his gag reflex anymore and puked out his dinner on the poor grass beside him, and as he recovered from it, everything that he had heard from her and her appearance clicked in his mind. She was the stalker who had been following him the entire time, and based on how she said that she had long intercourses with her mate, her stomach-turning fluid discharge, and her gorgeous appearance, it became clear to him that she was a sex addict, and the discharge made much more sense when the realization dawned on him. Her womanhood was most definitely carrying lots of deadly sexually-transmitted diseases, and she intended to infect him with it. He has realized that he was in a very deep bind, but what he didn't know was that it was much worse than he thought, and with an unexpected turn in the end…
