Chapter 15 The trial part 3

The silence in the court room was overwhelming.

Yuki had her gaze down trying to focus on the floor. Veronica had her green eyes focused on her older sister Lydia who was seated on the second witness box opposite to Kaname Kuran. Nagamachi Aidou, Kaname's lawyer was standing in front of her box eagerly waiting for her response to the question he asked not too long ago. Kaname Kuran who was also seated inside his witness box had his dark wine eyes fixed on the youngest vampire seated among the audiences. But she not even for once glanced in is direction. The disappointment was flashing all over her face. He could see her struggle of trying to block her emotions but sadly was failing miserably. She is way too young to master the skills of locking her emotions away.

"Din't you for once think if all the maids and servants take their leave together then who will do the house hold work? Surely lord Ore will not do the grocery and you will cook in the kitchen? Didn't you think who would serve the drink? Who would wash your clothe? Or who would help you get ready?"

Nagamachi Aidou repeated his question breaking the long pregnant pause.

"Ore-sama we do not have all. Please do not take so long to answer one simple question."

Lydia sighed deeply. "Yes… I let them go," Lydia finally admitted. "…and that is because our anniversary was nearing and I wanted the house to only my husband and myself. As for that maid she was the only remaining one but due to emergency she took an early leave."

Nagamachi Aidou understood her move, after all the way she answered it drew conclusion to the argument.

"Anyways, moving on, so Lady Ore what happened after that? As you stated 'he suddenly grabbed you from behind'?" He proceeded forward with the next question.

Lydia took another deep breath making it more like a sad exhale before continuing with her statement.

"After that K- Lord Kaname Kuran pushed both our bodies down on the floor and…the next thing I knew he was trying kissing me all over while his hands moved down to tear of my clothes. "

"So were your on top of Kaname-sama or was he on top?"

Seniour Aidou asked Lydia as his next question to which Rido Kuran objected right away pointing out that Kaname Kuran has already confessed to being on top therefore there was no point in wasting time with asking the same sort of question. Nagamchi Aidou on the other hand defended every little detail from both side is important to determine if whether Kaname Kuran tried to rape Mrs. Lydia Ore or is it her who actually threw herself at him.

"Thank you Lady Ore you may go now." Nagamachi sent her back since there is no further question he could actually find to ask her. This case is after all quite complicated and from the looks of it so far it is not very much in his favour. A part of him is already regretting taking this case. This probably will be the downfall of his carrier.

Despite that he continued with his final statement hoping for some miracle to happen.

"My lords, this crucial time when lady Ore's younger sister Miss Veronica Shouto lost her child and lady Ore clearly is a suspects in this suspicious circumstances it means she already knew that Kaname-sama would be paying her a visit soon to interrogate on the matter. Therefore from beforehand she intentionally let of all the maids and servants in the house and kept only one maid whom she set free soon after his arrival and then appeared before him in seductive sultry nightwear. All these chain of events indicates that she, Lydia Ore was provoking Kaname Kuran sexually attacks. Therefore my client is innocent, not guilty; he only acted upon his manly instinct in the heat of the moment. That's all my lords!"

Ending his speech Nagamachi went back to his seat and Rido Kuran once more stood up.

"Interesting!" Rido exclaimed. "Judges I find this really interesting as to how Aidou-san is trying to change few simple coincidence into facts. Do you have any evidence to provide for the facts that you just stated Aidour-san?" looking over his shoulder Rido mockingly asked Aidou. "You must understand that be it for human or vampires, court only relies on evidence not facts. Since Aidou-san is unable to provide the required evidence to prove his client's innocence; I will do it. I will show evidence before you all to prove that indeed it was Kaname Kuran who lost control over his lust and attacked Lydia Ore wife of our respected pureblood lord Kyozaki Ore."

Then facing his nephew Rido motioned with his hand while uttering with his mouth at the same time.

"My dearest nephew please takes of your shirt."

Sound of shocking gasps were heard from the all over. Nobody really expected it to come to this level. Kaname's eyes went wide with the horrifying realization. Veronica had her eyes focused on Kaname, Yuki and Nagamichi shared a look and sitting on the rows behind them Hanbusa, Akasuki, Ruka all shared a worried glance with one another.

Kaname still stood there debating whether or not he has any option to get away and saw bit ray of hope when Nagamachi objected right away.

"My lords, Kuran-sama is trying to insult my client."

"You think I'm trying?" Rido chuckled darkly and argued back killing all of Kaname's reaming hope. "No I'm actually insulting him! If he can attack on somebody's modesty his should be attacked too. Besides his dignity has already been molested, and that is the case are fighting here aren't we Aidou-san…?"

The judges' panel had a little discussion before one of them let out the verdict.

"Objection overruled."

"Thank you judges!" Rido added with a cunning smirk upon his lips before facing Kaname once more.

"So Kaname Kuran, go open your shirt." Watching the young Kuran hesitate he decided to add more fire to the fuel. "It's okay nephew no need to be embarrassed. These are all your own people. The one who tried to molest you, your sister, your former fiancé, the mother of your unborn child, your peers…so don't be shy. Take it off! Take off your shirt Kaname Kuran."

Kaname let out a defeated exhale. He is full aware once his shirt is off it is all over. His eyes met with Veronica's green one that was blankly staring at him. His longing gaze linger upon her with last bit of hope that she would understand that he didn't do it…intentionally…he was provoked. He stood up from his chair while his hands slowly started to work its way. First he undid the blazer, and then one by one, button after button came undone between his fingers till his shirt is open. The he pushed the fabric off his shoulders. Everyone looked. His chest was clean.

Lydia and Rido shared an eye contact of understand. "Kaname Kuran, please make an about turn."

Kaname did and another round of gasp was heard. Veronica finally looked away and her father Isaya Shouto finally focused his gaze on her with an 'I told you so' look pasted on his face. Yuki held Veronica's hand in a comforting hold but the younger pureblood simply yanked her wrist back shocking the Kuran princess.

Sadly unlike his chest which was complete clean his back had marks, marks of Lydia's nails that he totally forgot about. His left shoulder blade had had mark of her teeth as she bit onto him during that brief encounter.

"Judges, please have a look. There it is, the evidence lies before all of yours eyes. Those arks on his backs stands as evidence that Lydia Ore fought back to protect her honour when our crowned prince tried to rape her."

Judges all shared a look with one another they were in a debate of their own of the verdict should be given out right now. But then again it's a very crucial case involving very influential and high profile figures of the vampire race.

"The marks on his back, the witnesses statement and importantly Kaname Kuran's own acceptance 'I lost control' it all leads to one conclusion that him," Rido pointed his finger towards his nephew. "Heir to the throne is guilty. He has attempted to rape honour Mrs. Lydia Ore and bring shame upon both the Kuran and Ore family. "

Yuki's eyes tears up and Nagamachi looks down in defeat. They have already lost the case.

"First of all on a personal level as a member of the Kuran family I present my sincere apology to lord and lady Ore for my own nephew's punishable action. And as a representative of the Ore family I would like to request the council to close off this case and punish Kaname Kuran in the most cruel form this hideous action of attempt to rape and also right away command the Kura family to remove his from the position of heir to throne. That' all…thank you judges!"

Giving out his conclusion Rido went back to his seat while the judges engaged in another round of discussion.

Everyone patiently waited while the judges still remained engrossed into their discussion. It is clear that they were not able to come up with a clear verdict. And finally one of them decided to speak out the leader of the Hio clan.

"The case is finally concluded however the court will deliver verdict within the next fortnight. For now the court is adjourned."

"Let's go!"

Veronica looked up to see her father. She felt numb couldn't even bring herself to response he took it upon himself to grasp her arms and drag her along with him.

One by one everyone got up from their seats and made their exit. Kaname watched still sitting inside the witness box as Veronica got dragged along by her father. Behind them was Lydia and her husband along with their solicitor his own uncle Rido. The only ones that remained were Yuki, Seiran and his own advocate Nagamachi Aidou.

"Kaname-sama ,you had marks of her nails on your body, you lost control. You should not have hidden these important details… I can understand you did not want the girl to know however not from me at least. I should have been informed that way I would have been prepared to counter attack that."

The pureblood did not even look at him. His gaze remained focused on nothing in particular. But the senior aristocrat was aware that Kaname Kuran was listening to him.

"Forgive me for being the bearer of the bad new…I regret to inform you that we have most likely lost the case." With that said he too walked away and this time his sister Yuki also followed the elder noble trails, leaving him and Seiran the only two to remain inside the now empty court room.

From inside her comfort of her room young Veronica looked through her window. She watched the sun almost setting. It's dusk already. Time for night creatures like her to awaken from the sleep but she on the other hand got no sleep. The whole day she spent sitting on this loveseat watching the sky changing over the day through her glass window. Her eyes almost closed down but the ringing of her phone made her shoot them open. She took the device in hand to see an unknown number.

"Hello…?" she answered softly.

"…please give me a chance to explain."

"Sorry wrong number!"

"Vero-" she disconnected the device only for it to ring again right away. however this time using her power she turned the device into dust and watched with an abnormal gaze as it all poured down onto the floor sliding off her palm.
