Really, really short.
Just...short. Short. UGH!
Just something I thought about.
Disclaimer: I don't own it, if I did (like many) I would have more supports. And! I would've given some of the DLC chacters their own classes. Like Ike would've gotten a Vanguard class...but whatever.
"Better, Lucina?"
The sound of her father's voice brought a few more tears, but she quickly brushed them away. "Yes. Father…" She took a moment to steady herself. "I'm sorry. It just all rushed back at once."
He hummed, studying her. "Father…"
She instantly grimaced. "Should I call you something else?" Lucina tried to hide her disappointment, but it must have shown as her father smiled.
"No, it's just strange to my ear…I like it." He gave her a short embrace.
"…Father!" She laughed and was pleased to hear him laugh as well. It had been so long…she'd forgotten the sound of it.
"Yes, it will take some getting used to!"
Lucina sighed happily, wanting nothing more than to forget the death, the destruction, the pain, in this one moment forever. It was selfish and impossible, so she wasn't surprised when they were interrupted.
"I'm sorry-Chrom?"
It was her. She tensed.
"Hmm? Oh, Robyn. What is it?" He pulled away from Lucina, but kept close. She relished in the warmth, the strong confidence that radiated from her father.
"It's just that…" She paused, eyes flickering between the two of them. "You two are out here alone, and Marth is…crying. This is how ill rumors are born. I trust you, Chrom, but is there a reason you and Marth need to be alone?" Ill rumors indeed. Lucina wasn't sure if she wanted to laugh or cry or scream or all three.
"Can we tell her, Lucina?"
Lucina barely heard Robyn's gasp and exclamation. She wanted to scream.
"Lucina?!"
She wanted to cry.
"Lucina?" Chrom asked, gently wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
Robyn took a deep breath, running a hand through one of her pigtails, a nervous tick. "Chrom, what is going on? Why is…Marth using the name of our child?"
This was it. She couldn't put it off any longer. Lucina wouldn't let this crush her. It nearly did two years ago. She had two years to come to terms, but facing Robyn right here and now, she realized she'd never come to terms with this. She took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, locked eyes with the tactician, mouth set into a firm frown and said, "No." She vaguely noticed how calm her voice was considering the torrent of emotions inside, all clambering to be released.
"Huh?"
Lucina shook her head, "No. I'm not your child and you're not my mother."
Come now! The time travel virtually caused Chrom and Robin/Robyn to meet. Oh yeah, Female Unit will be Robyn and Male Unit will be Robin. Nifty huh?
This isn't anything big, just a thought I had while replaying through it. I mean, considering that Robyn lost her memory and that's how she met Chrom, but that was caused by Grima coming back in time because of Lucina...then Lucina caused her 'parents' to meet. But who's to say that they are Lucina's actual parents?
My headcanon says that Robyn and Chrom didn't meet the same way they did in the game. That is, in Lucina's time line (the ruined one) Robyn and Chrom met under different circumstances. Thus, it's entirely possible that Chrom and Robyn would potentially marry someone else. In other words, the Lucina that comes back in time isn't really the same Lucina that Chrom and Robyn have. That's the whole premise of this very, very short one-shot. Not sure where I was going with this thing...
I'm so rusty!
Time travel...messing with my head.
Later!
