Delsin woke with a start, the white room causing him to squint intensely. He looked around, calling the names of his friends before realising that they weren't there. Nothing was. Where was he? He started jogging around the space, but nothing changed until something materialised in front of him.
"Ahh, Delsin. How great to see you, yet again." Delsin could recognise that voice anywhere. Augustine.
"Where the fuck am I?!" Delsin shouted, as he began sprinting towards her body, now standing before him. But nothing happened. He just went… straight through her.
Augustine chuckled, turning to face him, "That won't work here. In fact, nothing will." Delsin tried to activate his powers, but his arms were left cold. With that, Augustine disappeared into the white once more, and the white slowly transformed into the warm colours of his territory.
He was in his house now, standing with Reggie. His brother was complaining about the extra work that came with all of the D.U.P.s, and Augustine's plans. Delsin wasn't paying too much attention though; he never really did when Reggie would go off on his rants over this type of stuff. Instead, he was just thinking of how much more freedom he would soon have, what with Reggie occupied with bigger things.
Suddenly, their conversation was interrupted with a loud crash outside. They ran out to find the military truck that held the conduits smashed, Delsin feeling a pang of deja vu as he ran over to help one of them. As he went to help one up, Reggie called out to him saying not to touch him. Delsin didn't listen though, grabbing for the wounded person and subsequently absorbing their powers on contact. It was Hank, and Delsin had just obtained his Smoke powers. Except he couldn't use them this time around. He ran after Reggie, who was following the road towards the city.
"Don't follow me, Del!" Reggie called, not looking back.
"Wait, Reggie- I need your help! Where are you going?" Delsin asked, trying to catch up to his brother but to no avail. Reggie didn't acknowledge what he had to say, so Delsin instead headed to the warehouse surrounded by people.
"What's going on?" he asked, but the people around his glared at him.
"Don't go in there, you'll just end up hurting us," one of them told him. Delsin was confused, how could he hurt them? He was just Delsin, what the hell would he do? He was snapped back to reality with the shouting of Betty from inside the warehouse. Determined to fix things, Delsin pushed open the front gate with all of his strength to get inside. That didn't feel right. It felt easier last time.
Ignoring this feeling, Delsin ran to the door of the warehouse and busted through. He tripped through, landing on his front, at Reggie's feet. He looked up, giggling cheekily, but was met with Reggie wearing a stern glare.
"Get up, Delsin," Reggie muttered, looking around the warehouse. It had been decorated for a wedding, and all of the guests stopped to stare at him. Delsin stood up slowly, brushing himself off. He looked over to Reggie again, and noticed he was so young; no more than 18 at this point. Delsin looked himself down and noticed how small he was as well.
"Where… am I?" Delsin asked slowly. He froze, his memory flooded with images of his cousins wedding back when him and Reggie were only young. He remembered tripping through the door, and everyone joining in a chorus of laughter. He was the clown of the tribe, and this was just another silly Delsin moment. But instead, everyone was cold and serious.
Reggie shook his head, "You're so stupid sometimes. You'll end up killing someone with that thick skull of yours," and walked away. Delsin was unmoving. He watched as Reggie walked away, as everyone stared at him. All of these people would soon be in immense amounts of pain because of him. Because he had to get involved, the next few years would be the rest of their lives.
Delsin fled back out the door behind him. He was suddenly in the makeshift hospital they had set up after Augustine interrogated his tribe. He could taste metal in his mouth, and looked down to see he was 24 again.
Delsin wandered through the building, straight to Betty's tiny section. He peered inside, and she looked over to him.
"Delsin." Her face was hard. He slowly crept through the curtains and sat down beside her. She stared at him.
"Betty, what's going on? Why is everyone acting so strange?"
Betty shook her head, "People don't let being killed, Delsin. That's why they're mad at you."
"I-I don't understand. I didn't kill these people."
"But you will. Your friends, your family; you'll kill Reggie."
Delsin's eyes darted to her, "Reggie's already dead, Betty."
Betty's face froze. "Your friends, your family; you'll kill Reggie."
"Betty? Did you hear me? Reggie's dead."
"Your friends, your family." She didn't move. "You'll kill Reggie."
Delsin stood up from the seat as Betty continued to repeat the sentence over and over. He didn't understand what was happening. Turning on his heels, Delsin sprinted out through the curtains.
As they parted, he realised he was on top of the Space Needle in the city. Delsin looked over the structure. It still had all of the protective equipment on it from the start of all of this. Then it clicked. This was before Reggie's death. Reggie was still alive, and he could stop him from being killed.
Delsin wandered to the edge of Space Needle, looking down and the city below. He could see the people walking around like ants, all unaware; all well and truly alive, for now. How many more people would die at his hands? Would Fetch, Eugene, even Carter, face the same fate as his brother simply because of him? No, because they didn't know him yet. Delsin breathed through his nose, attempted to power up once more and when he realised he was still unable to, smiled as his leaned over the edge of Space Needle. This was his last opportunity, to save them from himself. To give them one last chance.
As Delsin plunged toward the concrete below, he noticed the buildings beside him stretch and distort. They became infinitely long, and the ground grew further from him. He was falling, forever.
Oh wow wow wow, it has officially been over 2 years since I last worked on this... I am so sorry. I don't really have an excuse, life just sort of, happened? It's so crazy to think of how much has changed since I last published here. I'll admit, I'd forgotten pretty much all about this until only recently. My knowledge of the game itself has also run almost completely dry, so now that I'll be adding to this again (Woohoo!) I'm going to have to return to it to make sure my details are all correct.
I want to thank everyone who's stuck around, and every newbie who has come through recently as well. It was so shocking to see this still getting attention, to the point where I feel bad not adding to it! I hope you all enjoy this, and that you look forward to what's to come! I didn't want to pass through what had been happening since last time, so please bare with me as we get through this little part and then the show will be back on the road!
Until next time!
