A small object, shiny and pink rested in peters calloused hands. It was slightly larger than a Teran twenty five cent piece, printed with a triangular symbol encircled by a ring on the front.

"What it is?" He asked Gamora, who had given him the small device. A white cord stemmed up from it and divided itself into two. He turned it over in his hand, looking at it pensively. Gamora bit her lip, furrowing his brow at the lack of recognition in his face.

"The dealer called it a shuffle." She said, trying to hide the slight disappointment that her carefully selected birthday present for Quill was an unknown rather than a nostalgic. She paused, a small grin on her face. "It plays music." She added, now content in the smile that came to his entire face.

"You're kidding." He said, trying weakly to hold back the giddiness in his voice as he pushed what he now recognized as headphones into his ears. "Where the hell did you get this?" He asked, astonished as he fiddled with the minimal amount of buttons that littered the front of the device.

The fact that Taren goods were strictly outlawed was what made the gift so special. Even traveling anywhere near their solar systems was a highly punishable offense. As a highly volatile and violent world, the idea of giving earth any new technology, accidentally or not, was simply unallowable. The little pink square from home, despite being far beyond his time of stay there, must have cost at the very least and arm and a leg to someone somewhere.

"Shh." Gamora hushed him, planting a small kiss on his forehead as he leaned against the counter of the Milano. She pressed the large circle, and the new music poured to Peter's mind as he listened.

"My baby don't mess around because she loves me so and this and I know fo' sho'" Peter danced into the main gathering room of his ship, his less than amused captive audience didn't even flinch at this point. Rocket was past the point of rolling his eyes as Peter pulled Gamora from the waist into a quick, cheerful kiss. "Heyaaa" He dipped himself backwards, continuing the song as he danced out of the room to pilot the ship.

Despite his blaring and annoying happiness, they really couldn't be happier for the guy. The new supply of music from home and the thought put into the small gift were making his demeanor contagious. Even Drax was smiling brighter and more often. Rocket gave an honest compliment at one point, it was difficult, but he did it all the same. In fact, everything seemed to just keep getting better for all of them.

"Where the hell did you even get that thing?" Rocket asked, raising an eyebrow as Quill made his dramatic exit. Gamora smiled.

"I...convinced a merchant of Knowhere that I truly needed it more." Her smile turned a tad mischievous as her eyes met Rocket's.

"Nice."

Drax looked at both of them, tilting his head in the same way that Peter would have remembered that a dog might have.

"How were you able to make him believe that you truly needed it more?" He asked, genuinely curious. Neither Gamora or Rocket had it in them to explain yet another figure of speech to Drax at the moment, and simply let it rest.
