Dang, all these reviews and follows and favorites? Wow. I really do need to finish this story.
I took a while to re-read this and write a few more chapters. I also edited the story's cover image! Hope y'all like it :3
But anyways... This story has gotten way too far to just be abandoned. I'm really going to try to finish it. Please let me know what you guys think!
Icecloud's POV
Lionblaze spins me around and catches me in the arms as I laugh. I grasp to this moment as if it's never going to end. What I thought was impossible has actually happened, and every second I remember, Lionblaze asked me to the dance. He and I are actually dates to the dance! And the world just feels good again. He's such a gentleman, too! When he asks me to dance, he holds out his hand with a smile and says, "dance?" and I respond, "dance!" It's amazing.
Of course, there are a few songs that we exchange partners. He dances with Poppyfrost for a song, and I dance with Mousewhisker. Then, he dances with some Shadowgirl as I dance with a Riverguy. The cutest, though, was when Hollyleaf and Foxleap danced together next to Lionblaze and I… two siblings and their pairs. The whole night is amazing, and I never want it to end.
Sometimes, I fall out of reality, staring at Lionblaze. It's a bit embarrassing. But his perfect smile, his golden blonde hair, and his dimples…
"Sorry Icecloud, I'm going to get a snack… want to come?"
"Sure," I say. We walk over to the snack table together and eat some food as we're quickly joined by some friends. As Lionblaze begins to chat with Bumblestripe, Hazeltail bounds up to me.
"Hey, Icecloud, how's Lionblaze?" she smirks.
I smile. "He's fine… Oh, he's just amazing! He's such a gentleman, and I'm so glad to go to the dance with him…" I ramble off.
"That's awesome, I'm so happy for you," Hazeltail says. "You guys are kind of cute together."
I blush. "Thanks. How about you? Any guys catch your gaze tonight?"
"Actually… well, there is one…"
I giggle. "Who?"
Hazeltail sighs with a sad smile. "He hasn't asked me to dance yet, though."
I roll my eyes. "Hazel! C'mon, who is it? Unless it's Lionblaze, I can probably help-"
"It's not Lionblaze, don't worry," Hazeltail laughs. "It's…" she closes her eyes. "Well… he's kind of related to you-"
I gasp. "Foxleap?!"
She shrinks back a bit. "Yeah…"
Dovewing's POV
I love dancing. A fast-paced song comes up and I turn to Tigerheart.
"Come on, Dove!" He grins. "Do the shuffle with me!"
I try to copy Tigerheart's moves, but I somehow can't, and instead slam my foot down on the ground at the same time as I try to slink back. It just doesn't work for me.
"My sister's really good at it, I'll show you!" Tigerheart yells over the loud music.
I follow him over to Dawnpelt, and he brings her back to where we were originally dancing.
"Shuffle, Dawn!" Tigerheart exclaims. Together, on the beat, the two of them start hip-hopping to the beat, totally in time with one another. It looks pretty cool. I wish I had a sibling I could dance with… Ivypool for sure wouldn't be willing to do that.
Suddenly, a few more people gather around, and before I know it, almost the whole camp has formed a circle.
"Shuffle, Tigerheart!" I exclaim, as he and Dawnpelt make their way across the dance floor. Not wasting another minute, Toadstep grabs Hollyleaf and waltzes her across the floor, dipping her in the center. Hollyleaf's long hair flows behind her as she laughs along.
Next up come two Rivergirls who do some sort of funky dance move, followed by Emberfoot's moonwalk across the ground. Hazeltail drags her brother Mousewhisker onto the dance floor, and together, they do some sort of partner dance made up of complicated drops and spins. Everyone cheers.
When Tigerheart returns to the dance floor to try something else, somebody pulls my hand from behind. "Ouch!"
"Sorry. But hey, Dovewing." It's Bumblestripe.
"Hey, Bumble, what's up?"
"I just- I just noticed you were having so much fun out there with Tigerheart, and… I'm here to save the day. You know?"
What?
"Uh, thanks, but I really should get back to-"
"Wait…" says Bumblestripe. "I… I just wanted to say, you look gorgeous tonight, and I-"
Tigerheart suddenly makes his way through the dancing crowd and catches up to me, his dark gaze protective. "What's up?"
"Tigerheart," breathes Bumblestripe. "I was just… talking…"
"Come on, Dovewing, let's go back to dancing," Tigerheart says.
"Wait!" calls Bumblestripe. "I need to be honest here for a second. Tigerheart, you've always won with Dovewing, and I just want a chance."
"What do you mean?" Tigerheart narrows his gaze.
"I want Dovewing."
I frown, music blasting around us. I like them both, but-
"You can't have her!" Tigerheart aims a punch at Bumblestripe's face just as Bumblestripe dodges. Barely, though, as he still hits the side of Bumblestripe's cheek. Before I can say anything, though, Bumblestripe kicks back at Tigerheart, and the two are in a full-out fight.
"No! Stop it!"
Ivypool bounces over. "Hey, Dove- Whoa! Fight!"
"I don't know what to do! Help me, Ivypool!"
Ivypool rolls her eyes. "Morons. Tigerheart, Bumblestripe, stand up!"
Both of them ignore her until she forces a kick, hitting Tigerheart's shin. "Ow!"
"Normally I might find this entertaining, but right now it's just kind of stupid," Ivypool states, hands on her hips. "Now seriously. Grow up."
"When did you begin to suddenly sound like Leafpool- ow!" Ivypool plants another kick following Tigerheart's remark.
Ivypool sighs. "Shut up. Just enjoy this last night, okay?" She bounds away. I'm still there.
"Well," I offer with a weak smile, "I really like you both…"
Bumblestripe rolls his eyes. "Dove, that won't do. We both want you too-"
"Some of us, more so," Tigerheart says. "I mean, just a bit of respect, dude."
"Let's let Dovewing decide," Bumblestripe says. "Dove?"
I'm a bit shocked and don't know what to do at all. I like them both! "Oh, I can't decide right now! I'm sorry."
"Come on!" Bumblestripe grunts just as Tigerheart just sighs.
That's when I knew which one really cared for me more. "Sorry Bumblestripe," I say, "but I do want someone who really cares."
Bumblestripe looks crestfallen. I feel really bad, but Tigerheart is so much more of a man for me. "I'm so sorry," I breathe, just as Tigerheart smirks, slowly coming closer to me.
I can barely proceed with my thoughts as I'm swept back to dancing, but I catch a quick glimpse of an upset Bumblestripe, his movements empty.
Firestar's POV
Camp was definitely a success this year. Most of the campers seem to be having a lot of fun on their last night of Camp Warriors, and I'm left reminiscing on my own times here as a camper.
I stare up longingly at the sky, which is normally full of sparkling stars, but is instead starting to cloud over. That's strange. The weather forecast for tonight was nothing out of the normal.
The trees next to me pick up some wind, and the branches begin to rustle. I frown. Looks like a storm is coming. The campers are having so much fun, though… I'd hate to force them back to their cabins just yet.
I decide to wait it out a little more, give them maybe another hour of dancing before it's time to go to sleep. Many of them have long journeys in the morning to head home.
Tigerstar's POV
"Remember: the goal is to take over camp. We're not here to fight anyone… well, except Firestar, but he's mine... just create a huge disturbance. Got it?"
My followers around me smirk. "Let's go!"
Firestar's POV
I spot a quick rustle of the bushes from the opposite end of the wind. Which can only mean someone's in the bushes.
I turn another way and catch a glimpse of a pair of beady eyes. The campers dance on, completely unaware of anything. I need to stop this.
Quickly, I grab a hold of the foghorn and press it loudly. A few campers shriek, and the music stops. The eyes watching me have disappeared.
I stand up on top of the bench and yell. "We have a weather storm warning in effect, campers... some sort of hurricane! Everyone, please meet up by your counselors and return to the cabins, please! Thank you."
Unfortunately, I probably spoke with too much urgency, as a couple of the campers now look a little frightened. They all begin to gather around, until a few Thunderkids note that their counselors are missing. And now, come to think of it… where's Squirrelflight?
All of a sudden, I don't have time to think anymore. I feel a hand quickly grasp my shoulder, and an all-too familiar voice rings into my ear.
"Nice to see you again."
Tigerstar.
Oooooh...
