Destruction.

It was all he wanted. His mind screamed the word, over and over until it was all he could think of but, he couldn't think anymore. He felt tired, his mind felt tired and what he wanted at that moment was to fall into a deep slumber and never wake up.

He tried falling asleep but it didn't help as his mind wouldn't shut down. Even though his mind was tired, it refused to listen to him. It refused to listen to him like it did not belong to him. He tried fighting with it but as every second passed, he knew it was futile. He knew he was losing.

He felt a tremendous amount of magic shoot into him, surging through every vein in his body and for a while he forgot the entire world, forgot who he was and what was happening to him. His mind was blank and he felt empty like his body was hollow. His eyes were wide open but he could see only darkness. He felt an invisible thread tugging him towards it, showing him a path and as the thread tugged harder, he decided to just follow it.

But then he heard a voice. It sounded angelic to him and also familiar but it pained him to remember the owner of the voice. His mind wouldn't let him remember that person. He heard that voice again and now his mind was in complete chaos and he was fighting an internal battle.

Then he saw her.

Strong, courageous and always beautiful. Her scarlet hair fell freely down her back and her big beautiful brown eyes stared deep into his soul, reminding him of his identity and existence. She held his hand and pulled him towards her and he felt the invisible thread snap and let go of him.

His eyes shot open but he saw nothing. He could feel a searing pain in his head and the only thing he could hear was his own breathing. He could feel hatred creep into him from the back of his spine. He tried to avoid it but it had somehow seeped into him.

He felt a hand touch his forehead and he immediately swatted it away, like he was scared of it. He could see a person in front of him and he had a dreadful feeling of killing that person.

He attacked the person and armed himself with a sword. He lunged forward, ready to slice the person's throat but he once again heard her voice and stopped a few centimeters from piercing through that person's throat.

His mind was his own now and it took him a good few seconds to take in his surroundings and when he saw the person whom he was about to kill, his heart stopped and he felt sick.

Erza Scarlet.

Tears streamed down his face. He felt sick with himself, afraid of himself. He was about to kill the girl whom he loved for his entire life. He backed away from her, scared of his future actions but she just walked towards him.

'No! Go away!' he screamed but she just moved forward and gently wrapped her arms around him. He stayed still for a moment, stunned from her actions but then he felt himself wrap his arms fiercely around her.

He let the tears flow freely and held her close to him, like he was afraid. He was afraid of losing her.

...

"Reload." A man said as he reloaded his gun. He had a stern look on his face and a huge scar ran across his left cheek, his dark hair covering his left eye. "We're up against Titania and that ice mage." he paused for some time and then continued. "It won't be easy...might as well be prepared for a few bruises."

"You worry too much Matt." another wizard said. He had a sly grin plastered on his face. He played with his revolver before taking random aim and firing. He shook a little from the recoil. He turned towards Matt, grinning widely he pointed to the revolver in his hand. "What do you think these babies are for?" he fired again. "and isn't the ice mage on our side?"

Matt let out a loud sigh and slanted his eyebrows. "He's complicated. I heard Master telling something about not being fully succumbed to the spell."

The younger wizard didn't look fazed. "Yeah I know...wasn't Master going to infuse some kind of magic into him?"

Matt stared at his gun, he clenched his fists, a frown forming on his face. "It didn't work."

The wizard raised his eyebrows, his face showing just a hint of amusement. "Then he's as good as dead..." he said nonchalantly. "guess I'll just kill him too."

Matt raised his arm and fired at the wizard. The wizard didn't seem fazed as the bullet just whizzed past his head.

"We need him Marco!" Matt said with a stern look. He let out a frustrated sigh and calmed himself down. " Look...I know you're thirsty for revenge but if you want Fairy tail's destruction then we need Gray Fullbuster alive." Marco frowned, his eyes were filled with hatred.

"But... that doesn't mean you can't make them suffer...and you can kill Titania too...as a bonus." he said, his voice laughing.

Marco's eyes lit up, his eyes were hungry for revenge.

"The pleasure's mine."

...

Gray opened his eyes and noticed that the room was dark. His eyelids felt heavy and he had difficulty in even blinking. He sat up groggily and rubbed his eyes to get rid of the heavy feeling. He switched on the lights and tried standing up. He found it difficult but was successful at it. His head hurt like hell. It felt like ten hammers had hit his head all at once. He closed his eyes for a few minutes in hopes that the pain would reduce. He couldn't remember anything, didn't know where he was and what was going on.

After figuring that the pain wouldn't reduce, he opened his eyes and attempted to walk. He took a step forward and almost stumbled.

"What the fuck?!" he cursed.

His feet felt way too heavy. He still continued to walk, he just needed to get to the door. He stopped midway and turned left. There was a full length mirror and he could see his reflection staring back at him. The first thing he noticed was blood on his right arm. It was dried up. He touched his arm and searched for any cut or wound but didn't find any. Then realization hit him hard.

It wasn't his blood. It was her's.

He shut his eyes, trying to forget about that incident. He hadn't meant to hurt her. He would have never hurt her. It was all because of the sickening pain in his head. It was controlling him, his actions and he had no other choice but to give in for it would reduce the pain.

He opened his eyes and the next thing he noticed was the Fairy tail insignia on his chest. Images flashed in front of his eyes. Natsu, Lucy, Happy, Cana, Mira, Juvia, Loke, Master, Levy...he couldn't hurt any of them.

"I-I can't do this." he clenched his fists.

Pain. It shot through his head like a bullet. He winced. He could hear a voice in the back of his head.

'Destroy Fairy tail.'

"No!" he refused. He wouldn't give in this time.

'Destroy Fairy tail...kill her.'

His eyes went wide. He looked at the mirror, his reflection smiling mockingly at him. He punched it hard. The mirror shattered into pieces. His fist started bleeding.

"I said no...I'll kill myself if I have to kill her."

The pain left him.

...

"Damn!" Erza cursed for what seemed like the hundredth time that day. She was trying to treat her wounded left arm but was horrible at it. The one thing Titania was horrible at was treating wounds. How she wished Wendy was here. She wrapped some bandage paper over her wound and knotted the ends of it tightly. She winced in pain.

"That's not how you do it." she looked up and saw Gray leaning against the door, surprisingly fully dressed. Her eyes immediately softened with concern.

"Oh you're up...how are you feeling?" she asked sternly yet concern graced her words. Gray immediately looked away.

"That's non of you're concern." he replied coldly. " You're horrible at treating wounds." he quickly diverted the topic. Erza frowned both at his tone of voice and his words.

"Well apparently, I'm just working with one arm...thanks to you." She replied indignantly. Silence followed.

Erza cursed herself. She hadn't meant to say that out loud.

She sensed him walking towards her. She looked up and he was already in front of her. He knelt down, picked up some bandage paper and then stared at her, his face expressionless. Erza raised a brow but before she could say anything, Gray forcefully wrapped bandage paper over her mouth. Her eyes went wide and her words came out muffled. She tried fighting back but he held her right arm and her left arm was temporarily out of order.

'This is the second time I'm being choked by him...'

Gray then froze her right arm so that it couldn't move.

'What the hell?!' All sorts of crazy thoughts filled her brain. 'It's okay, this is just Gray.'

Gray then knelt down once again and picked up some medicine and then gently applied it on her left arm.

Thunderbolt number one. To say Erza was surprised would be an understatement. Out of all the crazy thoughts, this was definitely not one of them.

Gray continued treating her wound and she hardly felt any pain. Once he was done he let go of her right arm and removed the bandage paper over her mouth. Erza looked at her arm and then back at him.

"There was no need to do that you jerk!" she glared at him menacingly.

"I don't even get a thank you?" he shot back. " Are you hungry?" he asked out of the blue.

Thunderbolt number two. Erza just stared stupidly at him. "Yeah I'll just go make so-"

"I'll do it...you can't cook now." Gray replied.

Thunderbolt number three. Erza's eyes softened. 'That's considerate of him...'

"I can't bear your horrible cooking." and with that he walked out of her room. Erza felt like punching him hard in the gut but refrained from doing so.

'He's acting differently.' she thought, observing his weird behavior. His eyes were still cold but not like before. 'Is that spell wearing off?' she felt a sudden spark of hope. Maybe she could bring him back to his senses after all.

As she was absorbed in her thoughts she didn't notice that Gray was already back and was sitting right in front of her. It was only when she smelt something delicious did she look up. She then saw the source of the smell.

'Fried rice.' she thought, pleased.

And once again before she could even speak, Gray forcefully stuffed a spoon full of fried rice into her mouth.

'Third time I've been choked.'

Erza swallowed with great difficulty and then started coughing violently. She was surprised at the taste though. She didn't know that Gray could cook this well heck she didn't even know that Gray could cook. Once again she felt like she didn't really know Gray as much as he knew her or maybe she had never payed attention to him.

She glared angrily at him for a while and then let out a helpless sigh. How could she be mad at him? He had been surprisingly nice to her and she didn't even thank him properly and to be honest she felt a little guilty for that.

"Hey Gray..." she started uncertainly. Silence. She just continued. "thanks a lot for the fo-kya!" she was cut short as Gray swiftly grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. Erza fell forward against his chest. She felt him gently put his arms around her. Blood rose to her cheeks. She didn't know what was going on. He then pulled her closer against him and gently ran his fingers through her hair.

Erza then heard him whisper, very close to her ear.

"I'm sorry..." his voice shook as he said the words.

Her eyes went as wide as saucers and her heart beat started beating faster. This usually didn't happen to her with Gray. His cool breath almost tickled her neck and his lips were almost touching her ear. It had been so long since they were this close and in all honesty she missed it. She missed being close with him, missed his scent, his company...she missed her best friend.

It was almost like he was back to normal but then she felt the tremendous amount of dark energy surrounding him, like it was latched onto his back and she knew that this was all just temporary. He was still cold, still possessed, still not Gray but she wanted him back and she was going to do anything to get him back to normal.

Just before she could wrap her own arms around him, she heard a deafening bang. The ship shook violently. Gray quickly pulled away from her and cursed something under his breath.

"Crap...we've been hit..."
