Sheldon looked at Amy nervously as they both sat down on Amy's couch. It was the first time they had a chance to talk privately since Sheldon arrived home from his getaway trip. There was so much to say, and yet neither one really knew how to start.

He looked at Amy, noticing her shoulders slumping even more than normal. While he was still learning how to decipher people's emotions, it seemed he could almost see hurt in her eyes. He couldn't take the silence any longer.

"Amy, you must be really angry with me for leaving you like that."

She looked up at him. "Not so much angry as I am frustrated. Sheldon, I know you. I know how you're wired. I understand your need to escape and figure things out. As you once told me, I like you for who you are, quirks and all. But I just wish you would have turned to me when things got too hard instead of pushing me away. I never meant to make things worse. I wanted to help you."

He nodded morosely. "I know. I guess I panicked."

It was unnerving for Amy to see Sheldon so aware of his mistakes. "Yeah, I guess you did. So, what are going to do about it?"

Sheldon could feel a pain growing in his chest at what was coming next. He looked over at her little statue of monkeys because her eyes were causing him to lose all focus. "I will bring the Relationship Agreement over tomorrow so we can properly terminate our relationship."

Amy nearly choked on her cup of tea. "What?! What are you talking about?"

"I messed up, Amy. I'm not one to say that often, but I know in this case it's true. You're unhappy with me. It only stands to reason that we terminate our relationship."

She could feel her breathing getting heavier. "Is that what you want?"

"I already did what I wanted. I got on a train and left Pasadena. And I can't say it made me any happier or led me to any great solutions."

"And is ending this relationship going to make you happier?" Amy almost couldn't bear to hear the answer.

Sheldon looked straight into her green eyes and in barely a whisper, answered, "No."

Amy could feel her entire body relax. "Then we are not breaking up, Dr. Cooper. We hit a rough patch here, but we can work it out. I'm not going to let you keep trying to terminate the relationship every time things get a little bumpy."

"Excuse me! I do nothing of the sort!"

Amy rolled her eyes. "Need I remind you about the dining room table?"

Rats. "Oh." He'd remembered, of course, he'd just hoped she wouldn't bring it up.

"No more breakups?" Amy asked.

"No more breakups." Sheldon couldn't help but smile in his relief.

"Good." Amy tried to scoot a little closer to him. "So, I'm still your girlfriend. And you're sure that's what you want?"

"Oh yes, Amy! More than anything!" he answered in his excited voice.

Amy's eyes grew wide. More than anything?

Sheldon looked embarrassed. Where had that come from? "That is, erm…actually, I should probably be going…." he said, standing and starting for the door.

But Amy wasn't about to let this go.

With a small smirk, she said, "More than anything, huh? More than trains?" She began to come toward him, which only made him keep retreating to the door.

"Amy-"

"More than comic books?"

"Amy, I-"

"More than your spot?"

"Amy, please-"

He had now backed up against the front door, and Amy stood directly in front of him. "More than a Nobel Prize?"

"Yes, ok! Yes to all! I want you to be my girlfriend more than anything. Are you happy now? Is that what you wanted to hear?"

A huge grin crossed Amy's face as she wrapped her arms around his neck and planted her lips on his. He reciprocated and wrapped his arms around her waist, wondering how he could have ever left her. What a vixen.

They broke apart, both smiling, and Amy happily gave her answer.

"More than anything."
