Alice's POV
My date with Bella had been magical. I couldn't stop thinking about it! It was everything I'd ever hoped for and more! I couldn't stop the excited giggle from leaving my lips as I drifted through my closet debating what to wear. I was going to head back over to the Cross household and see what Bella's plans were for the day.
One of the better parts of last night was coming home to find out that Laurent and James had left. That was some of the best news Carlisle had ever given me. I knew from a vision I had while at school James wanted to confront Victoria about staying here but I haven't had any visions about either male nomads since. It was slightly worrying…but I brushed the feeling aside as I decided on a simple pair of designer black skinny jeans and a dark grey silk blouse.
Humming to myself I left the house, practically skipping, causing Emmett to laugh at me as I passed by. I nonchalantly flipped him off before I exited the house, grateful that Esme and Carlisle were having a date day and wouldn't be around to witness that. I didn't quite want to interrupt my happy plans by having to wait and listen to Esme lecture me, or know that I'd have to return home to one.
It didn't take me long to reach the house. And it seemed like I wasn't the only visitor. As I stepped into the clearing, so did Victoria. She was wearing a pair of faded jeans, a tight red shirt, and a leather jacket. I smiled a greeting to her, earning a slight nod and half smile in response as I led the way into the house, not even bothering to knock. I knew someone would hear me coming.
And sure enough when I opened the door a head popped out of the kitchen doorway. Bella grinned when she saw me, quickly coming over and pulling me into a hug that I gladly accepted.
"Hey, long time no see Raven," Bella smirked at me before placing a soft kiss on my lips.
Humming happily when she pulled away I couldn't help what I did next. I placed the back of my hand to my forehead and leant back, though still in her embrace, as I dramatically spoke, "Oh how long has it been?! Days? Months?! Years?! It has felt like an eternity since I've last laid eyes on your delicate face and been surrounded by your love! I didn't know how I would survive if I had been forced to endure more of this torture!"
"Wow, and I thought I was dramatic." I opened one eye to see Yuki looking at me with her head tilted. She and Rose were standing halfway down the stairs, both looking at me. Yuki was surprised while Rose merely rolled her eyes at my antics, fully used to my dramatic ways.
I felt Bella chuckle. "Looks like you've got some competition Yuki. I'll even say it flat out, Alice is leagues ahead of you when it comes to being overly dramatic, and I'm not just saying that cause she's my girlfriend."
I grinned and leaned up to kiss Bella's cheek.
Yuki huffed and pouted. She said something in Japanese before turning towards Rose, her green eyes wide and slightly watery, "You're on my side…right? Please be on my side Rosie…" her lower lip quivered slightly as she gazed up at my sister.
I saw Rosalie tense as she stared at the girl beside her. Her eyes instantly panicking and not knowing what to say. She immediately pulled Yuki into her arms, hugging her close, "Don't fret my sweet Snowflake, mean old Bella is just saying that cause she wants to sleep with Alice."
Beside me Bella blushed a bright red color, "Rosalie!" her voice had gone up a few octaves and she immediately cleared her throat.
That made Rose bust out laughing at poor Bella's expense. Yuki giggled lightly but her cheeks were also stained a pretty pink color. I couldn't tell if it was because of Rose's comment about Bella wanting to have sex with me or the fact that she was so close to Rosalie. Either way I simply leaned against Bella.
"Relax Bells, no need to get all embarrassed. I mean, after yesterday…" I trailed off and saw Bella's head whip over to look at me with wide eyes, her cheeks burning furiously red. I couldn't contain my smirk. It really is just so easy to tease her.
"Wait, what happened yesterday?" Rose's eyes lit up in interest.
But Yuki pulled a face, "Nope no. I don't wanna know. Keep it to yourselves. Please and thank you!" She rapidly shook her head before rapidly finishing her decent of the staircase and moving past us into the kitchen, mumbling to herself in Japanese.
Bella covered her face with one of her hands while Rose chuckled, walking down the stairs as well. "What's she saying?" Rose asked my embarrassed girlfriend.
"Oh she's just mumbling song lyrics from one of her favorite animes in an effort to keep from picturing Alice and I in a compromising position." Bella's voice was muffled due to her hand still covering her beet red face.
"Isabella!" Yuki yelled out in irritation. Her concentration on her song lyrics faltering.
Rosalie chuckled before moving past us and into the kitchen to console the young alpha.
I giggled and looked up at Bella, waiting for her to finally let her face free. Eventually she did. Her dark brown eyes shyly looking at me. I merely grinned and kissed her cheek again. "So what are your plans for today?"
Bella shrugged and pulled me into the kitchen with her, "Haven't given it any thought yet."
Yuki was sitting on one of the stools with Rose standing beside her, leaning up against the counter. Yuki was pulling pieces off an apple, eating them as she went. I wasn't quite sure what she was doing. Rose was watching her with curiosity.
"What are you two doing?" Bella asked before making her way to a counter where a partially constructed sandwich lay. Least I know what she was doing before I walked in. Speaking of which…
I glanced around, "Hey where'd Victoria go?"
"Oh she went into Stella's lab while you were busy preforming your sad little speech for Bella. She was rolling her eyes when she walked in to." Yuki mumbled around pieces of apple, her eyes never leaving the fruit in her hands.
Rose, who was still watching Yuki's actions, answered Bella's question, "Same as you."
That's when I had a brilliant idea. "I know!" I jumped on the balls of my feet, a giant grin plastered on my face. Everyone turned to look at me. "We should go on a double date and go shopping!" I was practically squealing.
Bella wrinkled her nose, I already knew she wasn't a big fan of shopping but I was banking on her humoring me since I was her girlfriend now. Rose seemed to like the idea while Yuki frowned.
"But there's so many people inside the mall…" her voice was soft, scared.
"Yea but you'll be stuck with the three of us, at the least you'll be stuck next to me." Rose said. Her dark gold eyes watched Yuki's facial reactions carefully as the girl pondered the thought.
I could see Bella in the kitchen holding her breath as she waited for Yuki's response. Probably hoping she'd say no so she didn't have to spend the day with me dragging her all around the mall.
After a minute Yuki looked at Rose, her voice low, "You won't leave me alone right?" her voice was so heartbreakingly scared that I wanted to go over and hug her. And considering the look on Bella's face I wasn't the only one who wanted to.
Rose smiled softly at Yuki, wrapping one arm around her waist and giving her a side hug, "Of course not my sweet Snowflake. I'll be right beside you all day, or right outside your dressing room. I won't leave you alone. I swear."
Yuki looked in Rose's eyes for a few moments before nodding, "Ok…" she smiled slightly, a light blush on her cheeks. Rose grinned and kissed her cheek.
Bella groaned but I didn't care. "Great! It's a date then! You two eat and Bella get changed, we're going shopping!" I couldn't help myself from being excited, I got to do one of my favorite hobbies alongside my adorable girlfriend, her sweetheart of an alpha, and my amazing sister. But I also get to dress up said girlfriend in all sorts of outfits! Oh I couldn't wait!
Bella grumbled to herself as she prepared a second sandwich, handing it over to Yuki as she sat down at the table with her own. The two ate while Rose and I chatted, already planning which stores we would hit first. I was definitely going to get Bella into at least one dress before the day was done, and from the look in Rose's eyes she was considering the same thing for Yuki.
When the two were finished Yuki took their plates and washed them as Bella headed to her room to change out of her baseball shorts and tank top. I glanced at the counter where Yuki was sitting, her apple from before was resting on the counter. There were various little pieces missing from the fruit and I could almost see a design on it. Moving closer I inspected it.
Upon closer inspection I noticed that the pieces had all been carefully removed for one purpose. So that when she was finished with her intricate selection there would be an image of a rose on the apple. The parts she had carved out and eaten where the petals. I couldn't help the grin that made its way onto my face. I glanced over at Rosalie and she was staring at the apple with a surprised look in her eyes.
I giggled to myself. Honestly, the two of them were just so cute it was annoying!
We all heard Bella descending and headed out to the living room to meet with her, Yuki grabbing her apple on her way. Just as Bella was halfway down the doorway beneath the stairway opened to reveal a slightly annoyed redhead physically dragging Stella out of her lab.
"You're experiment is going to take at least three hours before anything happens. I'm not going to sit around and watch nothing happen. And neither are you. Come on. We're going out! We'll be back in time before it does anything!" Victoria maneuvered herself around Stella as they exited the walkway to the basement so she was behind her, pushing her instead of dragging her by the arm.
Stella squirmed, trying to release herself from Victoria's grasp. "You don't know that for certain! Anything could happen! The addition of the medicinal herbs could change the entire properties of the potion!" Stella managed to get around the redhead but Victoria was having none of it. Instead she snaked her arms around the wolf's waist, pulling her towards the front door.
"By my calculations the probability of that happening is so miniscule you shouldn't even consider it. And if that does happen I'll do anything you ask of me for a month. Now stop struggling and let's go!" Victoria finally managed to get Stella out of the house. We could still hear the two arguing as they drifted deeper into the forest, all of Stella's arguments weak against Victoria's answers.
We were all silent for a moment. Stunned at what we'd just witnessed.
"Well…that's one way of getting Stella out of her lab…" Bella finally broke the silence.
"Hm…I wonder if Victoria will manage to calm her down. Stella sure does hate being interrupted from her projects." Yuki took a real bite of her apple this time.
"I'm sure Victoria will manage. We vampires seem to have quite the hold on you wolves. I mean, Bella's letting us drag her to the mall after all, something she utterly detests. All cause she want's Alice…"
Yuki immediately slapped a hand over Rose's mouth, stopping her obvious sentence short. "You shouldn't sound all high and mighty missy, I got you to volunteer at the day care remember? And I did that in less than ten seconds."
Rose frowned but couldn't deny her mate's response, mostly cause Yuki was still covering her mouth. I couldn't help but laugh as I went over and took Bella's hand in my own, heading towards their garage before Bella had the idea to escape.
The four of us were finally in the car, Bella driving and muttering to herself all the while, while Yuki was practically sitting in Rose's lap as she had her head resting out the open window, preferring the one of Rose's side rather than her own. Rose didn't quite seem to mind, she seemed quite content to have Yuki in her arms, even if Yuki's dark locks occasionally got in her eyes.
I reached over and claimed one of Bella's hands in my own, smiling at her when she looked at me. I was ecstatic to get to go shopping with her, especially considering how much she hated it, so it meant a lot that she was going along. Complaining. Yes. But still humoring me by tagging along. I honestly think all the complaining was just for show since her eyes didn't seem to upset. That thought only made me grin wider.
When we finally got out of the car and inside the mall of Port Angeles I noticed an instant shift in Yuki's body language. She immediately went from being calm and silently confident in her stance to anxious and frightened, instantly clinging to Rose's side when we stepped through the doors. Her green eyes darting around at all the people around us.
It made me wonder just why she was afraid, when the unfortunate incident happened she had been all alone, so shouldn't she be more afraid being alone rather than surrounded by strangers? I wasn't quite sure.
As we walked deeper into the store Bella leaned over to whisper quietly to me, "She's never been a fan of people. And after the incident she developed major trust issues and is in a constant state of worry around large gatherings. It's the main reason she refused to go to school."
I nodded at the explanation. So in an effort to help relax the poor alpha I decided to detour from my original plan, heading towards the few art shops located in the mall. They usually weren't all too crowded inside most days and despite it being a Saturday afternoon that was still the case. Yuki seemed to relax slightly as she began dragging Rosalie around the store to look at all the paint colors they had. Rose threw a grateful smile over her shoulder at me, which I returned with a smile.
Besides, I quite enjoyed art myself, so I pulled Bella over so I could grab a few sketchbooks and pens for myself. Bella in turn kissed my cheek when no one was in sight, making me grin. The adorable smile she gave me made my heart ache pleasantly.
Once Yuki had picked out some new supplies we left the store, Yuki looking much more at ease than before. Smiling proudly at my ingenious plan working I decided to start with the more quiet clothing stores to keep the sweetheart calm. The day was meant to be a fun outing together, not one filled with anxiety. The four of us chatted as we walked to different stores, Yuki happily squished against Rose's side and me happily leaning against Bella's. For once I quite enjoyed my shorter stature, since it allowed me to fit so snugly against my mate's side with her arm around my shoulders.
Once we were at the first store I immediately set about grabbing different things, a few for myself but many for Bella. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Rosalie pulling Yuki to a few sections, testing the girl's clothing taste before she too started grabbing various articles of clothing. When I head a decent amount I pulled a reluctant Bella towards the dressing rooms.
That was how our day went. Hitting up various clothing stores, Rose and I dressing up our respective dates, Bella complaining constantly while Yuki seemed to be enjoying our clothing choices as she happily switched from one outfit to another without complaint. Meanwhile I had to constantly pout and beg Bella to try on certain things, bribing her with kisses and me trying on various revealing outfits that made Bella's eyes darken.
When we finally left the mall, we were all holding a ton of bags of our new purchases, Bella carrying the most since Yuki still had claim on one of Rose's arms. We dumped the bags in Bella's car before the four of us walked towards a nearby restaurant so the wolves could eat.
Rose and I weren't too keen on having to pretend to eat human food but we endured it, Rose seemed far more interested in playing with Yuki's hair. I busied myself with chatting about how cute Bella looked in some of the outfits, making her blush the deep red color I adored. When we were finally back in the car we were all smiling happily.
"All right….I'll admit it. Today wasn't…awful." Bella admitted after a short silence in the car. Yuki and I both gasped at the statement, making Bella blush lightly, "Oh quit it you two, or I won't be going next time."
I scoffed, "Oh like you'll be able to say no to me." I stuck my tongue out at her when she fixed a glare in my direction.
Yuki giggled, "Today was really fun." I glanced in the rearview mirror to see Yuki smiling shyly up at Rose, "I'm glad I said yes." Rose smiled happily and kissed Yuki's forehead, making the wolf blush.
When we got back we found Stella and Victoria cuddled together on the couch watching a movie. Stella leaning her entire upper body against Victoria, who had her arms secured around Stella's waist. They both glanced up when we walked in and waved lightly.
"I take it the experiment blew up?" Yuki said as she dropped some bags on the stairs.
"No, it actually did what I wanted and is ready to try out for the next full moon." Stella answered, her voice calm and seemingly unconcerned with her success.
"Really?" Yuki and Bella asked simultaneously both scrutinizing their eldest sister. Bella was the first to ask the question we were all thinking, "Then why don't you sound excited? Last time you had something for us to try out you were grinning like a madwoman."
Stella frowned and shrugged, making Victoria laugh. "She's just a little peeved off that I was right. The success is partly my doing."
"It was all your doing…" Stella muttered to herself, her eyes narrowing at the TV screen but her body unmoving from Victoria's embrace.
Victoria rolled her eyes, "Oh stop it." She chuckled. I figured Stella had been stewing on this for a while now. But they were both currently wrapped up in each other that it didn't quite matter.
"So how'd you convince Bella to go to shopping?" Stella asked as she reached over and took a sip from a wine glass sitting on the coffee table.
"Easy. Alice batted her eyelashes in a cute little manner and Bella became putty in her hands and was incapable of saying no. Rose convinced me and so we went. Now I have to figure out how all this is going to fit in my closet…" Yuki frowned as she looked at the bags at her feet.
Rosalie chuckled and picked up most of the bags. "Oh I'll make them fit. Come on. I was taught by the best," she winked at me and I smirked. The two disappeared upstairs.
I grabbed the bags that had Bella's clothes and waited for her to lead me up to her room so I could help her do the same. Sighing a little to herself Bella headed up to her room at the end of the hallway. Her room was just as I expected it to be. The walls were a pretty royal blue color, there was a large bookshelf settled on the opposite wall that was organized expertly, a cozy looking armchair sitting in the corner next to the window. Her queen sized bed had dark blue sheets and melded together with the wall.
Her closet was settled on the right and was a decent size, a little smaller than I would've liked but I managed to get all the new purchases inside with little trouble. And without the need to use the waist high dresser she had. How I detested those things. They wrinkled everything you put inside them! Why anybody used them would always astound me.
Bella was laying on her bed watching me organize her closet. Silent in her observation of me. I wasn't quite sure of what to make of it but I continued with my task. When I was done I finally turned and looked into Bella's chocolate brown eyes. She smiled and patted the bed beside me. Needing no further invitation I happily plopped down next to her, she instantly wrapped an arm around my shoulder as I snuggled against her side. I could picture myself doing the exact same thing a hundred years from now and the thought made me smile.
Bella ran her fingers through my hair as we sat together silently, simply enjoying each other's company. Bella finally spoke, her voice soft, almost like she didn't want to break the calm silence we'd created, "Thanks for today. I think it did wonders for Yuki's recovery."
I smiled, "Good. I'm glad." I looked over at Bella, her eyes were looking up at the ceiling, deep in thought. "Did you have fun?" as much as I was glad Yuki seemed to relax and enjoy herself in an uncomfortable environment I was more anxious to hear if Bella had fun. Sure she said she didn't hate it…but that could mean she just barely tolerated it.
Bella looked down at me and smiled, "Yes. I did. I'm surprised, well, only a little surprised. I really don't like shopping. But I was happy spending the time with you. You made the day quite enjoyable."
If I could blush I'm pretty certain I'd be doing so right now. Instead I just smiled shyly up at Bella. She leant over and kissed me softly, making me sigh lightly, I loved feeling her warm soft lips against my cold ones. It felt like pure heaven each time and I couldn't get enough of it.
The kiss was gentle and sweet. Neither one of us moving to deepen the kiss like last time. As much as I wanted to trace my lips along every inch of Bella's beautiful body I wanted to take things slow. Despite everything that's happened, the fact was we'd only really known each other a couple of weeks and I want to really get to know her before we delved into anything more than we've already done. And it seemed like Bella shared my sentiment as when she pulled away she gave me a sweet smile before resting her head against my own.
We stayed like that for a long while, occasionally chatting quietly about various things, getting to know each other. When it started to get late I figured it'd be a good idea for me to go, let her rest in peace but when I made to leave Bella reached out and gently took my wrist in her hand.
"Stay. Please? I…just don't want you to go." Her voice was soft, her eyes warm as she looked at me. There wasn't any fear in her eyes. She already seemed to know the answer to her question. I smiled and nodded. She smiled, leaned up and kissed me softly, "I'm just going to go change real quick."
As she left with a new change of clothes to the bathroom I dug through her clothing and found a pair of shorts and a worn oversized shirt of hers to wear. I changed quickly then resumed my position resting on her bed. Shortly after she walked in, pausing as she took in my appearance.
She grinned at me as she took her place beside me. "You look absolutely perfect in my clothes." She kissed me again. I was really grateful I couldn't blush. Bella pulled me into her arms then. Spooning me and was soon asleep.
Being surrounded by her scent and listening to her even breathing and steady heartbeat pulled me into a state of complete relaxation. I closed my eyes, focusing on those two wonderful sounds, they were quickly becoming my two favorite sounds.
...
Rose's POV
It's amazing how quickly this became one of my favorite places to be. I'd never expected to set foot into a day care. Let alone help at one. Interacting with children…it's amazing. Amelia had called and asked Yuki for a favor. To keep an eye on the place because she had to call in a sick day and the new girl she'd hired wouldn't have been able to handle everything on her own. Yuki was more than happy to accept and pulled me along without any forewarning, not that I minded.
I loved all the kids here and a few of them seemed to like me more than Yuki or the new girl Beth. It made my dead heart ache in such a pleasant way. Every time I picked one of the kids up, or helped them with something small, or get asked to participate in their games. It made me fill with warmth.
Looking at the kids now a smile lit my face up as I saw all the kids sitting in front of Yuki as she read them a story they chose. While Beth and I were cleaning up and getting lunch ready. Yuki's smile was bright and infectious as she read, her eyes lighting up in delight that mirrored the children's.
God how I adored that girl. It's been three weeks now that we've been spending every day together and each day has been pure bliss. I'd taken her to my place and she and Emmett surprisingly became friends instantly, we've been on quite a few dates, each one better than the last. But most of the time we'd just be in her room, lounging about. Her either drawing or playing a song, while I read a book. Just…simply being beside each other. It was perfect.
Well…it would've been where it not for the other night about a week ago…
Yuki had been sleeping pretty regularly. Not more than five hours at a time but at least it was progress. Though one night she'd woken up at about three hours in a panic unlike the others. Normally she'd be afraid and unaware of her surroundings for a good few moments before I'd be able to bring her back into reality. But this time she was fully aware of where she was. She had looked straight at me with wide green eyes.
She said she couldn't remember what her nightmare had been about. Just that it wasn't the same as it normally was. Instead she just remembered being hot. Too hot. And from the moment she woke up she said she had a bad feeling settling in her stomach. She couldn't tell what the feeling meant or what it was warning her about but the feeling never left her.
So for that past week she'd been more jumpy than normal and had taken to observing her surroundings even while at home. Despite the protections of the house and around the area. The feeling in her gut told her something was going to happen. She just had no idea what and it was terrifying her.
It got to the point where she told her sisters about the feeling and expressed the desire to call their mothers to see if they could shed any light on the situation. The other two wore similar concerned looks and agreed to the call, Stella saying she'd leave work early today so they all three could be present.
"Everything okay Rosalie?" Beth's kind voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I quickly turned to look at her a smile already on my face.
"Yeah, sorry about that. Got a little sidetracked."
Beth nodded. Her eyes went over to land on Yuki for a moment before refocusing on me, "You two okay?" her voice was barely above a whisper.
I chuckled, "Yes. We're fine. Nothing to worry about there. Snow's just been anxious recently and it's putting me a little on edge. But we're fine." that was the truth, if my wolf's anxious, so am I.
Beth nodded then continued about her task as I finished mine up, just in time for the story to end and the kids to immediately turn towards us and their food. Yuki came up beside me and gently squeezed my arm. We shared a quick smile before continuing about our day.
The two of us stuck around until there were only three kids left. We normally wouldn't have left until they were all gone but Yuki was anxious to call her mothers. Beth said she'd be fine and waved us off. We thanked her as we got into Yuki's car and began the drive back to her place.
"What were you thinking about earlier?" Yuki asked after a few minutes of silence.
"What do you mean?"
Yuki glanced at me, a small smile on her face, "I felt you watching me. Then I heard you tell Beth you were sidetracked. So, what got you all sidetracked?"
I was silent for a minute, deciding on my wording. "My thoughts were pretty scattered really…I did think about that last full moon though." Which wasn't a lie. The entire night seemed to be replaying in my mind a lot since it happened.
"Really?" Yuki looked over at me, a slightly bewildered look on her face.
I just smiled and reached over to tuck some of her hair behind her ear, "You're wolf form is really stunning, you know that?" As expected Yuki's cheeks darkened in color and she mumbled some nonsense beneath her breath as she drove us in silence. I couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction.
Her wolf form looked exactly as I expected it to. Her fur was as white as snow and her eyes shone a brilliant violet, so different from her green eyes now, yet equally captivating. I didn't quite know what to expect when the three sisters began getting ready for their night. I'm pretty sure Alice and Victoria felt the same way since the three of us just kinda stood in their living room watching the trio wander about the house talking in Japanese to each other.
Eventually they stopped in front of us, each with a bag slung over their shoulder. The three of us were just really waiting around to see what they'd want us to do. We weren't sure if it would be dangerous to be around them during the full moon. Despite their human appearance the fact was they were true children of the moon and lost themselves to their wolf state when the moon was at its fullest.
Stella spoke first, a smile on her face, "You three ready?" I'm almost one hundred percent certain we each sported matching 'what?' faces, since Bella immediately grinned and Yuki chuckled. "Don't worry, you three will be safe. Honestly, it makes everything a lot easier for us tonight."
Yuki nodded with her sister's words, "Yeah. If the potion doesn't work and we still lose our human minds we won't have to worry about our wolves getting real close to humans with you three around."
"Why's that?" Victoria asked on our behalf.
"Because you're our mates." Bella shrugged as if the answer was obvious. "Our inner wolves see you as such and because of that they'll probably end up staying beside you all night since your safety is of utmost importance."
Stella nodded, "We'll still travel a good distance away from civilization just in case. Since we'll probably see anyone as a potential threat to you three."
"Now, keep in mind that the wolf forms you've seen already aren't what you'll be seeing tonight." Yuki pulled out a sketchbook from her bag. She flipped through it before showing us a picture of three overgrown wolves, similar to the La Push wolves and how we saw Stella before when she protected Victoria from Sam. "Since we're Purebloods we can use this form whenever we so choose. But it's not the form of a true child of the moon." She turned the page and showed us what it seemed like everyone thought of when they think of a wolf-man. The wolves stood on their hind legs, had massive hand shaped claws and their torsos were extremely muscular. The wolves seemed very similar to what humans depicted werewolves like in movies.
"Let's get going, we've only got a couple hours left." Stella glanced at her watch before heading out the back door, Victoria instantly moving beside her. Bella went over and took Alice's hand before they too followed the eldest. Yuki walked over and looped her arm with mine, making me smile, as we trailed behind the others.
We all ran for about an hour straight before the girls found a decently sized clearing to stop at. Yuki let me go and dropped her bag onto the floor before stretching. "Man that run felt good. I hate how tightly wound I feel leading up to the moon."
Bella rolled her shoulders a couple times as she answered, "Yea, I came real close to letting loose during gym. Almost punched a guy to."
"What happened?" Since I hadn't gone back to school since meeting Yuki I didn't hear much regarding the gossip surrounding both myself and the newly out couple.
"One of those idiots that was trying to harass Yuki from before started making comments about Bella not being butch enough to be a dyke, and how all she needed was for one of them too…well yea, Bells and I had to keep each other from doing something drastic." Alice crossed her arms and huffed, still clearly annoyed. Bella immediately wrapped her arms around her girlfriend causing Alice to relax and burrow deeper into the embrace.
I wrinkled my nose in irritation, "Those boys are damn lucky I wasn't there. I would've broken something…quite possibly them." I was still a little annoyed that Emmett had purposefully gotten in the way before when the group was harassing Yuki, I had really wanted to scare them but I know myself well enough to know I wouldn't have stopped at scarring them. And since Emmett is my best friend, he knew so as well.
"Okay, we've got a little time which is perfect," Stella dug through her bag before pulling out three vials of a brown liquid that seemed completely unappetizing. And judging from the grimaces on her sister's faces they thought the same thing. "The three of us are going to head just a bit further ahead and wait for the change to take effect. If it works, we'll come back as we are, if not our wolves will come back." Stella walked over and kissed Victoria's cheek, "Here's hoping our project worked."
I glanced over at Yuki as she come to me and wrapped her arms around me in a hug I instantly returned, pulling her smaller frame completely against me. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Bella and Alice do the same.
"Stay here okay?" Yuki whispered to me. I was a little confused but I nodded my consent. I kissed her cheek quickly as she pulled away, loving the blush I got as a result.
The trio then walked deeper into the woods and out of our line of sight. "Why'd they leave us?" Alice frowned, "I thought we'd be safe around them." Victoria and I both shrugged.
So we waited. It didn't take long before I started hearing quiet whimpers of pain. My instinct told me to rush over there and find out if Yuki was okay but I remembered her words and forced myself to stay frozen. I saw Alice take a step, "Don't. We have to stay here." Alice looked at me, a question in her eyes but she too froze mid-step.
Then I felt my heart break as I managed to register sounds of serious pain. The girls must've went farther than I originally thought because the sounds were so quiet. But the more I focused the clearer I heard their pained groans and muffled screams. My mind immediately pictured my smiling Yuki being overcome with an agonizing pain and my heart throbbed with a need to go to her. A need that intensified as the sounds continued for what felt like hours.
Just as I was about to ignore Yuki's parting words and rush after them the sounds vanished. All that was left was silence. The three of us were very still, even for vampires, as we waited to see what would happen.
Eventually we heard movement. My eyes were glued to the spot the three had disappeared from. I knew in my gut what would appear. But I was still hoping for my tiny Yuki.
Violet eyes where the first things I saw. Brilliantly shinning in the darkness. I was immediately captivated as I watched a large wolf slowly stalking towards me on all fours. Her claw like hands digging into the dirt with each step until she finally stopped before me, her face level with my own. It made me briefly wonder just how tall she would be if she stood up fully. Her fur was so beautifully white and appeared to be so soft I wanted so badly to reach out and feel the softness run through my fingers. But I held still as my Snow Wolf observed me. Almost…studying me.
I could feel just how powerful my Snowflake was now. I didn't realize just how much power Yuki repressed on a given day. But now. I felt her entire Alpha power engulf me, feeling almost like a tangible blanket that followed her. I knew now why that man feared her so. And why he wanted to chain her. Because if this is what she is capable of…then I seriously doubt anyone could stop her.
Her ear twitched. Her head titled slightly. One way. Then the next. Then she closed her eyes and pressed her snout against my cheek, her forehead touching mine. A gentle rumble was heard coming from her, almost a growl but with no real threat in it. More of a wolf's version of a purr.
I hadn't realized I'd been frozen stiff till that moment. I felt myself instantly relax as my hands came up to caress her wolfy cheeks, the fur just as soft as I imagined. The wolf-like purr intensified. I heard movement and shifted my attention slightly to watch as two more wolves emerged from the shadows. Stella's dark grey fur made Victoria's red hair stand out as she went over and nuzzled her hand. While Bella's rich chocolate colored fur seemed to envelop Alice as she accepted Alice's attentions.
Their eyes astounded me. Bella's eyes shone a bright red color, almost like a newborn vampires but somehow not nearly as threatening. While Stella's normally dark blue eyes brightened so considerably they nearly appeared white with a hint of blue. And my Yuki, I felt myself fall captive to those shining violet eyes that watched me with the same curiosity that Yuki's normal green eyes did.
The entire night was spent with the three of us vampires simply being held by our wolves. Victoria had ended up with Stella's head in her lap, while Bella curled her body up around Alice, protecting her completely. I made myself comfortable between Yuki's large arms. She had laid down and I took a seat nestled between her left arm and her furry head. She then happily nuzzled against me while I stroked her fur, her right arm bending to lay across my lap. She alternated from nuzzling me to glancing at her two sisters from time to time, checking in on them and making sure they were okay.
It was a night I will never forget.
"You hide so much of your power…why?" I finally pulled myself out of the memory and refocused my attention to the young Alpha beside me.
I had meant to ask sooner but when the sun rose and I was faced with a very naked and exhausted Yuki the question was not on the forefront of my mind. The next few days the girls took breaks from school, the hospital, and Yuki's charity work to spend the time recuperating from the moon. They were all exhausted the days following the full moon. Dark circles present under their eyes. Normal activities seemed to visibly sap what little energy they had. It was the only time I'd seen Yuki sleep longer than five hours, her stating that her mind was so exhausted that not even her nightmare could penetrate through.
Then two days later they were virtually back to themselves. Dark circles nearly gone, at least for the eldest two, Yuki still had faint circles. Their energy was back and Stella immediately threw herself into figuring out why her potion hadn't worked, Victoria glued to her side.
"A couple reasons." Yuki pulled into her parking spot as she spoke. "One, even humans would be able to feel it and become instantly wary and afraid of me, their instinct telling them to avoid the obviously very strong presence. Two, other lycans would be able to feel my alpha nature from a couple miles away, maybe further if in their wolf forms, making me easier to track. And three, I prefer to be able to surprise my opponent…people immediately assume I'm weak because of my size and stature, and I get a lot of satisfaction from seeing the looks on their faces when I unleash my full power." She blushed lightly, "My inner wolf is pretty competitive." She mumbled as she exited the car, me close behind her.
I chuckled at that. "Yea. Though I guess I can see why, with that power I'd feel quite satisfied seeing my opponents freak out." I linked my fingers in with hers and gave her a quick peck on her cheek.
When we got to the living room Bella and Alice were already present, Bella tapping away at a laptop. "There you two are, Snowball go snag Stella, she and Vic are downstairs."
"Kay," Yuki surprised me by leaning up and kissing my cheek before she disappeared behind the basement's door, calling out for her eldest sister to join them.
I sauntered over and took a seat beside Alice, who was snug up against Bella's side. "How often do you two talk with your mothers?"
Bella shrugged as she pulled Skype onto the TV screen, which was acting as a second screen to her laptop, "Not as often as we'd like. All five of us are quite paranoid that someone might be watching us somehow. We all came to the mutual agreement to limit our calls, just to be on the safe side. Now, to be fair, we made this deal after they left and I guess Yuki made initial contact with them. But well…"
"They don't know the reasons behind our departure, remember?" Yuki showed up and plopped herself down beside me. "They think we left voluntarily, and that we're still in good graces with that bastard. So to them, if we're feely communicating on a sporadic yet constant basis, there's a higher chance of someone from his pack would notice us and consider us traitors as well."
"Why don't you tell them why you left then? Surely they'd want to meet up or something." Victoria asked as she and Stella sat on the loveseat.
Yuki shrugged and avoided eye contact. "Mother will freak…"
"Duh. So what? I still don't see why we shouldn't say something." Bella was frowning as she looked at her alpha. Said alpha was still looking anywhere but at someone.
Yuki sighed heavily. "Because…Mother will want revenge just as bad as I do. She already does. The only thing stopping her is the fact that she believes we're still safe and unharmed by the community. If she found out, especially over a call, she won't listen to me or mama or anyone. She'll just charge right for him…Mother's strong…but not even she can take down all his guards and anyone else who tries to stop her from getting to him."
Bella sighed. All was silent. "What if we met up with them?" Stella asked, her voice soft. Yuki shrugged and wrapped her arms around herself. "Well?" Stella probed gently.
I placed a hand on Yuki's back and gently rubbed her tense muscles. She slowly relaxed, but her arms remained around herself. "If we do that and tell her. She'll still want to…and the only way I can think of stopping her would be to…make her…"
Yuki must've felt our confusion because she sighed and continued, "I didn't even what to be alpha to you two. I really don't want to become my mothers' alpha too. It just…feels wrong to me…and I have a feeling that would happen. She'll try and charge in ignoring all of us. And since she's an alpha you two and mama wouldn't be able to stop her. Only I could. And that would require challenging her, alpha to alpha. And because we're family I know she won't attack me, nor I her, but then I'd be forcing her wolf to submit to me. And…I just…really don't want to do that…not to my own Mother…"
We were all silent. No one knew what to say to that. It was made pretty obvious early on that Yuki wasn't a fan of being an alpha. Sure she was strong and she knew how to use that power. But being in charge if your older sisters and being able to make them submit to you if you so choose…that's rough. Especially on a fragile girl who's own mind is still tormenting her.
I pulled Yuki close to me and kissed her forehead softly, "Let's just deal with one thing at a time. Okay?" I felt her relax against me as everyone else nodded. "Now, do…you want me here?" Yuki looked up at me confused. I shrugged, "I was just wondering if you wanted your mothers' to know about us. I don't mind stepping aside for a few minutes."
"Yea I'm with Rosalie there. It just seems like it'll get in the way if we're here. This is about your feelings of dread or what have you. If your moms see us then they might just focus on us. And if you're trying to keep your communications with them sparse and short, now really wouldn't be the best of times for introductions." Victoria leant her elbows against her knees as she looked at the three sisters, settling on her mate beside her.
Yuki bit her lip as she glanced at her two sisters who seemed to be torn as well. Stella said something in Japanese and the three sighed, Yuki nodded. "Okay…I don't really like it but do you three mind sitting in the kitchen?"
"Of course not," we all said in unison, causing us all to pause before laughing. Chuckling I leant over and placed a quick kiss on the corner of Yuki's lips before getting up and walking into the kitchen with Alice and Victoria right behind me, leaving the trio of wolves to contact their mothers.

Bella's POV
These past weeks had been some of the best weeks of my life. We found a nice balance in our lives that we hadn't had since Mother was our alpha. I was going to school, and while that had turned out to be nothing but irritation, I was just happy to be spending time with my Alice and her family. Then we'd either go to her place and relax, go to Port Angeles and pick things up for Stella, or go to my place and relax.
Yuki was visibly happier now since Rosalie came into her life. Before there was this slight shadow always present in her eyes, and that shadow slowly began to dissipate the more time the duo spent together. Now it was hardly noticeable.
Even Stella seemed to effortlessly involve Victoria into her 'nerd den,' though I'm sure Victoria's experience from her human life aided in Stella trusting her around her experiments so quickly. I doubt simply being her mate would get Stella to let anyone else touch her projects till they were finished.
The six of us seemed to just…fit. And I loved the feeling. We were family. And after having lost mine twice in my lifetime, it felt real nice to have us all together like this.
Sadly, things can't stay neat and perfect in our lives it seemed. Yuki had begun feeling antsy about something. She wasn't able to figure out what the feeling meant, or what it was in reference to. She just said she felt…off. That something was going to happen. She just wasn't sure what or when it would.
Obviously her instincts/her wolf were trying to tell her something. She just couldn't decipher what that something was. So we thought that maybe our mother would be able to shed some light on the subject. Hoping that she might've had some similar feelings before and what she recommend we should do.
And that's what we're about to do. I had Yuki's laptop sitting on my lap with Skype all ready to open. We decided that it should just be the three of us visible and have our mates wait in the kitchen since we needed to focus on the feelings Yuki had and not about our new love lives, which mom would definitely want to know all about. I wasn't quite happy with the idea but it made sense.
Yuki scooted closer to me on the couch and Stella took the spot next to her. I sent our mother a message and then waited. Moments later the sound of someone calling us rang out into the room. I answered the call before setting the laptop on the coffee table, adjusting it so that the three of us were all in the camera's line of sight.
Mother's face appeared on the TV, "Hey girls, what's wrong?" her voice started out loving and gentle then swapped to a business-like tone in an instant. It always amazed me with how she did that.
Yuki leaned forward, a frown on her face, "I woke up the other night terrified. I don't remember what my dream/nightmare was about, I only remember being too hot. Then I woke up and this…odd feeling just sitting right here," Yuki touched her stomach, "I feel so…worried…anxious…nervous…all of the above and more. I don't know what's going on but I'm really freaking out…please…help…"
Mother rested her chin on her hands, a pensive look on her face. "Before or after the moon?"
"After. It was about a week ago." Yuki wrapped her arms around herself.
Mother nodded before sighing heavily. "Honestly my sweet…I can't help you…" I felt all three of us deflate at her words. We were all hoping she'd be able to tell us…something that could help. "I think I know what the feeling is. I felt the feeling a week prior to our forced departure from the capital. I had no idea what was going on, I just simply knew something was going to happen. And then it did and the feeling vanished."
"And you had no idea what it meant?" Stella asked, Yuki looked too dejected to speak.
Mother shook her head. "No I didn't. After we were safe I noticed that the feeling was no longer there. I think it's just our wolves telling us that something bad is about to happen." Mother snorted. "Not that it did me any good. The event still happened, I was unable to stop it or anything, I was simply plagued by an uncomfortable feeling for a week."
Yuki sighed and tightened her grip on herself, "So my pack's in danger?" her voice was so quiet and scared. I immediately wrapped an arm around her at the same time Stella did.
"It's all right Snowball. We'll make it. No matter what life throws at us." I tried to reassure her but she didn't react in the slightest.
"I think it'd be best for the three of you to be on your guard at all times. Anything could happen. You might not be able to prevent it but you sure as hell can survive it. I know you girls can. You're my girls, you can survive anything." Mother's voice was so matter-of-fact that it made me smile.
"Okay. We'll be careful. Promise." Yuki managed a faint smile.
"Good. Take care my girls, I love you all. Now I need to hurry and finish cleaning before your mom wakes up." Mother waved and gave us a reassuring smile before ending the call.
Nobody moved. Yuki eventually sighed and stood up. "Well that sucked…" she shut down her laptop before gathering it and the cords attached to the TV. "I was hoping for a little more than that…" she sighed again. "Belle?" I looked up. "Do me a favor?" I raised my eyebrow, waiting, "Come straight home after school. I'd rather us all be somewhere we know is safe as often as possible. If something bad is coming for us I don't want us to be separated."
I nodded, Alice appeared before me, "We'll come straight here. Promise." She smiled softly at Yuki, "If it's any consolation I can still see all our futures so that's a good sign."
That made Yuki actually relax and smile genuinely. "Yea…thanks Alice." she nodded at her before heading upstairs to her room, Rosalie right behind her.
Stella sighed and leaned back, "Guess I'll press pause on the project I was about to start up. Don't want to create any explosions during this delicate time."
I couldn't help but chuckle at that, "Yea that would be just what she needs. You accidentally blowing up the house while she's busy trying to figure out what's going to happen."
Victoria laughed, "Relax you two. With me here there won't be any more explosions."
Stella eyed her suspiciously, Victoria merely grinned causing blue eyes to roll, "Whatever Scar."
