It's an ordinary enough day. He's stopped a few muggings, a car-jacking, and he even managed to return a little girl's balloon. Not a bad day at all, and the relieved smiles on people's faces are the reason he's picked up the name Spider-Man. It's all for them, and for all the people who can't help themselves. Meeting other heroes is rare; The Avengers are busy and the X-men handle other areas.
With a bright blue sky and the air filled with sunlight, a lone, floating figure sticks out from the buildings and clouds. She's a sight to behold to, and he finds himself staring from his ledge. Her skin is perhaps the warmest shade of orange he's ever seen, and he's never seen eyes so very green. Is she even real? When she looks his way and offers a bright smile, he can't help but smile back from under his mask. It's a shame she can't see it.
"Hello there!" Her fingers are curled around a map, a bag slung over her shoulder. She looks almost like a tourist. She probably is. He greets her back, giving her a small wave. She seems nice; That smile is contagious. The mysterious girl introduces herself to him, more than likely to be polite. Her name is just as unique as he expected it to be. Starfire.
He introduces himself as Spider-Man. There's no need to tell her his real name; The whole secret identity thing is sort of a big deal, after all. He can't just throw his name around. He can't. She's more than willing to accept it though, and when he tells her that she can call him 'Spidey' she takes him up on it.
Starfire says she's from Jump City- That's all the way on the West Coast! What is she doing here? He asks, and she gives him another one of those sunny, contagious smiles.
"I have come to see the giant apple!" Damn, that's cute. She actually thinks there's a giant apple in the city? He almost feels guilty telling her there isn't. Her cheeks flush a darker shade of orange, and she looks away, clearly embarrassed. There she goes, misunderstanding English again. It's not the first time, but the Tamaranean has clearly flubbed this go around. A whole trip across the country for nothing!
Ah, now he does feel a little bad.
"Why don't I show you around?" Spider-Man offers it without really thinking, but he doesn't regret it. Nothing seems to be happening right about now, and the bright smile she gives him makes it even better. Where should they go?
Pizza sounds pretty good. Is she hungry? She is.
He's more than happy to lead her to the rooftop of a pizza place he knows; The food here isn't bad, and he's been promised a discount. What's a better deal than that? They talk for a while, just them and the pie between them. Starfire makes for pretty good conversation; They've got some stuff in common, too. Crazy villains and stuff. At least she gets that being a hero is hard, but it's worth it.
She's cheerful. He likes that. He's just as cheerful. She likes that too.
If she ever visits New York again, he says he'll be glad to show her around. Her smile grows just a bit wider, and she thanks him.
She'll hold him to that.
