Alex being in Emma's office has never been unusual. Their history would never allow it to be so. Alex being in her office on a Saturday night, in a gray undershirt, and laying on her office couch in the dark while she franticly organizes his office is less unusual than one may think.

Emma's worked herself into a tizzy again. Her latest clients by no fault of her own broke up and she's been a little, a lot, down about it all week. She's re-organized her own filing system twice and has re-arranged her office furniture. It seems that it's Alex's turn for some office changes. He doesn't mind though. It's just one of Emma's many coping mechanisms and he'll gladly help her through this. Even if it means offering up his office to Emma.

The fact that it was supposed to be a date night and he was just running into the office for a file he needed and she was supposed to stay in the car to avoid this situation, well that only sort of bothers him. The reservations at the sushi bar were cancelled the minute after she started looking through his desk drawers and filing cabinet. He was rewarded with her smile, from her position on his office rug surrounded by files, for his understanding.

The ordered-in sushi had long since arrived and been stowed in the fridge. He sat down on the rarely used couch in her office about two hours ago to give her space. That just led to him unbuttoning his shirt and tossing it over her chair and laying down on the couch not long after trying to get more comfortable.

He's close to sleep when she returns to her office looking for him. Not bothering to turn on the lights. He hears her flats first and opens his eyes to look at her in the dark. Her jacket apparently forgotten in his office and her black pants wrinkled from her sitting on the floor.

"There's sushi in the fridge…" he mentions as she sits down on her desk chair and turns to look at him, at the same time he rises to make room for her next to him.

"My hero." she states, voice low as she moves to join him, removing her flats and folding her legs under herself. Her eyes are moist.

"You know that it wasn't your fault right? That guy was a creep and she was right to cancel the wedding." he says as she settles into the crook of his arm.

"I understand that, but it's just I want everyone to be happy. As happy as you make me, Alex Knightley," as she reaches up to nibble small kisses along his jaw. "Everyone deserves this." She finishes and places a small kiss to his lips before settling her head on his chest.

His arms wrap around her immediately, like a reflex. He whispers, "We are truly, so very lucky," as he continues to hug her.

They stay in that position for a while. Her listening to his heart beating and he every so often placing a kiss at the crown of her head.

It startles him when she begins to move away and he grips her tighter and mumbles, "Nope, more snuggling."

"No, I know, one second," easing away from him and standing up. "Lay down," she suggests to him while grabbing the blanket off the arm of the couch as he complies.

Wrapping the blanket behind her back and laying down on top of him. She wraps her arms around his neck, her hands play with the small hairs there. He moves his arms around her and settles them on her lower back. His fingertips just graze skin, thanks to her shirt riding up.

"I am so in love with you Alex," she mumbles into his chest.

Moving one hand from her back he lifts her chin up so he can look at her, "And I'm so in love with you Emma" he says and moves his head forward so he can kiss her. The kiss is gentle and slow, full of pure emotion and love.

Neither break the kiss but eventually they aren't anymore and Emma mildly breathless, smiles at him and states, "I'm glad we can agree on that Mr. Knightley."

"It really is a good thing Mrs. Knightley." he answers while smiling making his eyes crinkle as he leans in to kiss her again.
