Acknowledgement/End Author Note
Finally, the end! It's a little late, but I suppose anybody who's followed this story has gotten use to that by now.
Judging by some of your reviews (which I have read many many times: I can't thank you guys enough for reading this and caring enough to review it, it seriously means a lot to me), this is probably not the ending you were expecting. If you read my author's note for chapter five, I say that I really hadn't planned this one out too much, and that remained true of this series, for the most part. That's probably why it took so long for me to do, plus the difficulty in finding the time... But in spite of all that, I knew I wanted it to end like this. Not only is this a surprisingly pleasant ending to an incredibly dark story, but it also helps reflect the themes of Awakening, that our future is ours to command and no one can predetermine it for you.
Also, I wanted it to end in such a way that it could actually fit into the main story, regardless of who you pair up with who or what choices you make or what your Avatar is. I actually considered an epilogue for quite some time in which Lucina and her S-Class support talk on their wedding night and she shares her experiences as a slave with her husband, and they have a moment together. I realized that this probably wouldn't work all that well (for one thing, there's like a billion people Lucina can S-class support and it would be really weird to try and make it ambiguous, or I would have to make it one specific person and that didn't fit with what I wanted). But maybe that's something for you to consider the next time you play Awakening.
Lastly, I'm incredibly relieved to have this finally over with. 2016 has been an awful year for everyone I know, but it's good to go out with a bang and get this off my back. I hope that all of you and yours have a happy new year.
Good night, everyone!
