A/N: My first Sugarless Gum/Bubbline fic.

Her heart hadn't moved in years; grey and lifeless, looking much like a strawberry she'd consumed, it simply took up space in the cavity of her chest. For some reason, for the first time since she could remember, she felt it move. A clenching, throbbing, tight feeling in that fist-shaped muscle caused her breath, albeit useless, to catch in her throat. Breathing was more of habit than necessity anymore.

Amidst the considerations on the strange feeling happening in her chest, Finn piped up, "Marceline, was the world really in black and white back then?"

Her eyes flicked to meet his, mind frozen for the interruption, and then to the television that was playing a black and white movie from the 1900s. "No, dingus. They just didn't have, I dunno, a way to make it colorful yet," she said, irritated, after collecting her thoughts and gesturing to the VCR. How the plop was she supposed to know why it wasn't colorful?

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense," he laughed and tucked his chin back between his propped up knees, losing himself to the TV once more. Marceline couldn't care less about the movie at the moment. She was much more concerned with the weird, floppy, clenchy-thing feeling. What the plum was that?

She let her eyes coast the room, like she had before the feeling, and, again, briefly, she met Bonnibel's eyes. The princess was seated on the couch just behind where Finn had himself positioned on the floor. Something flickered in Bonni's eyes before she looked back to the movie, something like a smile, although her lips didn't move.

Marceline's heart flopped over like an earth-stuck fish.
